Question about the European versions

Post by _Jrinu_ » Tue Oct 10, 2006 8:23 pm

Hey guys,

This'll probably sound stupid and I'm sure it's common knowledge, but I was just wondering about the voices in the european releases of video games.

Is it the regular europe dub voices? Or is just it the voices from the american FUNi dub?

There is no better combination in the world than Dragonball, Cherry Pepsi, and Cheez-Its. It's a proven fact.

I'm pretty sure that it was just FUNi's dub voices. I couldnt find anything on Google. But if the europe release is the same as whats released in australia, then its the FUNi DUB voices.

Considering how much FUNimation & Atari have gotten involved with the last two series of games, it would be insane to presume that the Ocean cast would show up in any of them in any country.

When it's not the Japanese voices by default, FUNimation's cast is included throughout the world's releases on these games.

I'm German and I only got Budokai 3 Platinum (which is equivalent to the US Greatest Hit's version) and Super DBZ, so I can just tell you about these.
Budokai 3 Platinum does of course include the FUNi-voices and the japanese cast. The original game, which I played first at a friend's house, only got the FUNi-voices.
However, in the European version of Super DBZ only the japanese voice-cast was included (which I gladly appreciated :) ), but it had the US-Intro and subtitles only in Englisch (a weird release, isn't it?).
Finally I shortly played Budokai Tenkaichi with a friend of mine and this game also got the FUNi-voices (plus the japanese ones).

What I really like about the Euro-versions are the japanese cover arts :D

For DBZB1, we had the Japanese voices. For DBZB2 and 3 we had the Funimation voices. However they re-released DBZB3 with the Japanese extras had an option to switch to Japanese voices, and the GameCube version of DBZB2 also had an option to switch to Japanese voices. Sparking had the same feature and I believe Super only has the Japanese voices but I'm not 100% sure on that.

I'll give you a list starting from Budokai. I'm in college, so I have to hurry this up! ><

Dragonball Z Budokai - Japanese voice cast

Dragonball Z Budokai 2 - Funimation voice cast

Dragonball Z Supersonic Warriors - Japanese cast

Dragonball Z Budokai 3 - Funimation Voice cast

Dragonball Z Budokai 3 Collectors Edition - Both Japanese and Funimation

Dragonball Z Sparking! - Both Japanese and Funimation

Dragonball Z Supersonic Warriors 2 - Japanese voice cast

Dragonball Z Shin Budokai - Both Japanese and Funimation

Dragonball Z Sparking! NEO - Most likely Japanese and Funimation.

Thats about it.. if I missed anything important please let me know.

Yeah that's just about right, we've had the Japanese voices for everything except Budokai 2.

I hardly ever watch the anime, just play the games and read the manga and I can honestly say I'm far more used to the Japanese VAs.

Well, everything 'scept Budokai 2 and 3(We got the Japanese voices for the Collectors Edition  )
I don't think Nintendo of Europe have a lisence with Funimation, because all of the Nintendo consoles so far have ONLY had the Japanese voices 'round here.
Does anybody know if this is true?

Well, before the ps2 titles, the only dbz titles were released in France which used the Japanese language in their videogames.
Jord doesn't have a avatar because the combination of Jord and a equally cool avatar would cause the universe to implode.

Hey!! I have that on my Dreamcast.
Do you mean you emulate it on the Dreamcast?
Dragon Power was an American NES game, basicly a HUGELY edited Dragonball game.

... to the point that it wasn't even DragonBall anymore. I've actually had the "oppertunity" to play that game. I got punked bad.

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.
