Watching the Buu arc

Well, surprisingly, I was able to continue with another 4 episodes, this time reaching the point where the Earth has been restored and its people revived. Vegeta has suggested using the Spirit Bomb.

-The Spirit Bomb failed on both occasions that it was used (Vegeta himself and Frieza), so it's understandable that Goku doesn't like that idea.

-Seeing Mr. Satan stand up to Buu was unexpected and welcome!

-Aside from one line, the conversation between the two Saiyans seems to mostly forget that Vegeta is in fact already dead.

-Buu vs. Buu is nice to watch, funny that they have the same voice this time, though.

-Vegeta finally admits Kakarot is better than him. Powerful moment there.

-Dende appears to have shrunk in a few scenes.

-And both Old Kai and Vegeta are revived, YAY!

I'm glad to see you are enjoying the Buu arc so far. As a fan, I admit that it has it's fair share of problems, but it is still a good arc in my opinion.

Actually, that's almost word for word what Goku said. Although, he said he'd cease to exist "in this world". Possibly meaning there's no chance of revival or something like that. Or something like that, I don't know. That whole thing is confusing.

It isn't really important, though, since nobody ever suffers that fate. They could turn into cake for all we know.

Sorry for the double post, but this is just a reminder that I haven't forgotten about this. As I may have mentioned, I don't watch this alone, but with my two younger brothers ages 10 and 15. The 10 year old has suffered a severe constant headache that has prevented him from seeing Dragon Ball Z. He's able to see other things, even Star Wars, but DBZ in particular is just too much for him. We're doing whatever we can to help him, but if this takes too long or seems too hopeless, we older two bros. may consider going on without him. It's so frustrating that this has to happen with only 8 Episodes to go in Z.

I don't want to proceed without him, as he's been with us from the beginning and genuinely enjoys the series. But I also don't want to have to wait 10 years for him to "maybe" recover from this.

I am also currently rewatching the Buu Arc, and I can say without doubt now that I hate U.Gohan and Gotenks. U.Gohan was effective for all but 7-10mins and Gotenks inability to not be an asshole caused him to be absorbed. Mr.Satan didn't make it any better either.

Ok, the situation has been dealt with. I'll be proceeding myself without either of my brothers. The 10 year old is suddenly complaining about it being too much to watch more than 2 episodes of any series at a time, and the 15 year old is claims that watching TV in the evening effects his sleep (yeah, right, he's on the iPod Touch all night). So, I'm leaving these hypocritical losers behind.

The bad news is that I don't have anyone to share it with while watching. However, that's why I have you guys. Seriously, you guys are awesome!

Good news is I'm free to move at my own pace, which will be even faster than before. I've got two other shows I'm seeing at the same time, so I'll finish DBZ this weekend.

I just read that Akira Toriyama stated that Mystic Gohan is the strongest non fusion character in DBZ, yet he didn't make any impact. I really hate that character, he makes me sick to my stomach.

Well, I finally came to an agreement with my brothers regarding that stuff. So, the 10 year old can't see it anymore for health reasons, but my other brother and I decided to proceed. We went ahead and saw the next 4 Episodes today.

-Vegeta refers to Kibito Kai as Kibito Shin at one point. Where does this come from?

-All the cameos give this a big finale feel, even though I know it isn't really the end.
----Launch doesn't remember Goku for some reason, but thinks he sounds cool.
----Android 17 hasn't met Goku before, but it's likely he was programmed to recognize his voice.
----Eighter and Suno recognize Goku's voice somehow, though this could be explained by them either having met him offscreen since the Muscle Tower incident or simply recognizing his speech patterns.
----Tien most likely doesn't listen to Vegeta because he never forgave him for the things he did.

-Saiyaman and Saiyagirl. The good Team Rocket.

-The "Satan, Satan" chant is funny to hear.....

And now we've finished the series.

-Uub has a fairly deep voice for a one-digit.

-Bulla is never referred to by name except for the end credits

-Both Goten and Trunks have unseen girlfriends.

-They point this out, but I think it's a real dick move for Goku to leave everyone so suddenly, only promising to "visit". Considering his track record, that's not likely to happen.

-The last of the Faulconer Score. I'm gonna miss it.

-It's been a nice experience watching this, and it feels great to have come to the point where the manga ends. But this isn't the end, oh no, not yet. Still got the Specials and Movies to see, followed by GT. So, not done yet. Anyway, I think I'll make a separate thread for my Movie Marathon.

It was mostly my youngest brother's headache. We decided to go on without him after it took too long in the middle of the Kid Buu Saga. He's cool with it, though. He'll get to see this stuff once he recovers.

It's been a while here, and though I've finished the Buu Arc, I'll go ahead and post some more detailed thoughts of the earlier stuff if anyone asks. For now, here are a few notes.

Pre-Buu Notes

-Ninja Murasaki getting the Power Pole up his ass is one of the only things that has ever made me laugh!
-The Red Ribbon Army Arc is my favorite in the original series.
-Shunsuke Kikuchi's music is pure classic martial arts! I've got a lot of favorites here!
-They really swear a lot in the Namek Saga.
-Nathan Johnson's music isn't as memorable as Kikuchi's DB stuff, but it sure is dark!
-The music change at Episode 68, while I knew about it, was a strange shift. Everything except the Opening, Ending, and Eyectatchers changes completely. The Eyecatcher tune changes 17 Episodes later.
-I actually like the Garlic Jr. Saga.....
-I think Androids 19 and 20 are actually really creepy. Toriyama was clearly going for the uncanny valley look.
-The music from Team Faulconer is really great, despite the low budget! There are a lot of standouts, and its popularity can't be denied.
