Dragonball/Dragonball Z collector looking for vhs/DVDs/toys

Post by Dbzlove1993 » Fri Dec 19, 2014 2:46 pm

hey everybody, this is my first time posting so forgive me if this post is in a place it shouldn't be. I recently ordered dragonball season 1 and Dbz season five on DVDs after rediscovering my love for both series. I'm here today hoping somebody has some DVDs and vhs tapes that they'd be willing to sell to help me complete both DB and DBZ on both dvd and vhs. Also entertaining the idea of buying some vintage toys as well. Any help with obtaining any of this would be very appreciated. It would be great if I could also get some general tips and knowledge when it comes to collecting this stuff, so any posts and/or messages would be nice. Looking for everything in decent condition and in English only. Wouldn't mind having all the DB and Dbz movies as well.
The Dragonball series is my one and only anime show.
always on the lookout for uncut vhs box sets/individual tapes, dvd box sets, and various DB related merchandise.
My inner child is a monster that holds me hostage until I buy it endless video games and dragonball stuff. It won't stop until I have a man cave full of stuff that I look at more than I use. It's a problem.. They tried to make it go to rehab, but it said noo noo noo. Lmao.

Welcome to the Forum!

Ebay is a great place to find the VHS (are you looking for edited or uncut VHS)? The DVD set you got comes in an orange box correct? With the new blurays finishing up, I'm sure there are a few people willing to sell those DVDs :D

thanks for the warm greeting, I agree ebay is a great place to find them but for now I'm trying to find them from a fellow collector like me. I would prefer the uncut vhs tapes (general consensus seems to tell me the uncuts are better). I'd probably take the editted's too though. Just love the artwork that comes together when you have a complete collection. Yes the two sets I bought were the brick ones.

UPDATE: I managed to score a sweet deal on an auction on eBay. Someone was selling a beauty of a vhs collection consisting of basically the entire series minus the perfect cell and cell games saga, and the fusion and namek sagas are missing one tape each. Was very surprised to win the auction at 43 American dollars which translated to around fifty canadian. This collection also includes the sixth tape of dragonball, 9 of the dbz vhs releases, and the complete baby and super 17 sagas for GT. To add to the deal most are uncut excluding a few of the tapes in the babidi and buu sagas. Stoked! Can't wait to rip that package open when it gets here. It was my first ebay purchase so hope it goes smoothly.

That's Ebay; you can get your stuff amazedly cheap If you search with patience, you'll find a seller that Is not a DBZ collector or someone that needs money.

Amazon is GREAT for the DVD's, and even the manga if you're interested in that.

Or also someone that just wants to get rid off it because he/she doesn't want it any more.

Amazon's also pretty good when they have discounts or marketplace sellers charging items for lower prices.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:
- Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray

yeah, I was lucky to place my bid really soon before the auction ended. I was getting pretty fed up with seeing people trying to sell individual tapes and small lots for ridiculous prices. I mean there's some lots on there that are a tenth of the collection I won for more than half of the price I paid. Some peoples buy it now's were outragous. Hoping to be able to find the missing tapes for an inexpensive price although I know the cell games uncuts are pretty rare. Gonna try to complete the vhs side of the collection before I move on to dvd.

As far as the VHS tapes go, I have a few Uncuts, but I mostly collect the Edited ones, because the uncut version is on the single DVD's, which I'm also collecting, albiet much more slowly. I've got almost all of the editted VHS tapes, with a few gaps here and there. The largest gap is the Freeza Saga. I don't have any of the 10 tapes.

The edited version on VHS was until a few years ago the only consistent release of the entire DBZ series. Every episode was available in the broadcast version in that manner. Meanwhile, there were no uncut DVD's of the first few dozen episodes available at all until Ultimate Uncut, which ended early. We didn't get another full consistent release until the orange bricks were released, and they were in cropped widescreen. Ugghhh!

For the record, there are a few editted dub only DVD's floating around out there as well, though I don't have one for my collection.

This is all rather pointless in hindsight, because I'm not wanting to get rid of any of it. Maybe a few dupes I have...

Don't worry about it man, I enjoy any feedback whether it gets me some new stuff or not. I'm honestly pretty broke after this purchase anyways and won't be able to afford anything new for a bit. However if you do have anything to offer at any time just post a pic if you can find the time and I'll check my list and see if I need it. I wish the original dragonball releases would have seen more episodes, debating on whether or not I should bother collecting the vhs part of that series. Probably gonna just end up getting the blue bricks. Gladly my vhs collection for Z is pretty near complete, if I don't find anything here I'm probably just gonna buy small lots on ebay and give the duplicates I run in to to my brother. After that all I want is the Orange bricks, rock the dragon set, and maybe a few toys for display.

UPDATE; the huge bundle I ordered was missing one tape for the fusion saga. So I went ahead and ordered the uncut saga for a measly sum of seven bucks on ebay. It just arrived today, in fantastic shape! Can't wait to watch it. Still looking for the perfect cell saga, uncut frieza saga, cell games saga, and one tape for the names saga.

Hey OP, I'm new here as well. Just wanted to chime in that I too just started collecting DBZ merchandise it's addicting. I've been oblivious to the limited edition Dragon Boxes before they stopped printing, I've been on the hunt for them as of late.

I'm missing Volume 2,4, and 7...they are ridiculously expensive. I'm being patient though and waiting for the right price but so far I've been able to snatch the other boxes brand new still wrapped up, I haven't even opened them yet lol. Ebay is the way to go.
