Just conjecture on my end but humor me. I think this is why Bamco was so ballsy as to announce the DLC before even the damn Japanese release. This game probably got a truckload of pre orders(I pre ordered the Friday after 4ku was revealed) so their projected sales are probably decent enough. The upside is we get more content, the downside is more shady-ness with future releases.EXBadguy wrote:I just went to the gamestop website and found out that this game is one of the top most anticipated games of gamestop. http://www.gamestop.com/ps4

An additional $25 when including the season pass...back in the day the extra stuff would just be in the retail version of the game(with extraneous unlock gameplay requirements) or regulated to its sequel. That is a hefty $85 before tax price tag for what we hope is a great game. Will have to think about if I am gonna touch the dlc as well.

If you want to enjoy the whole of the game you will, especially once you see what it'll offer, probably some badass super and ultimate moves..but if the most iconic ones are in I'm banking they'll be originally created dbz inspired moves.

Those days are clearly gone lol. I mean in the oldest days we had arcade machines with intentionally bad game design and cheap AI to rob you of quarters then consoles came along and deaded that tactic in the west. Now publishers have found a new scheme to crank more money out of us. Games have, are and always will be a business. All a consumer can do today is either opt out or be very selective with their product of choice.Saimaroimaru wrote:An additional $25 when including the season pass...back in the day the extra stuff would just be in the retail version of the game(with extraneous unlock gameplay requirements) or regulated to its sequel. And great game means different things to different people.
Some expect this to be a great single player, story experience - This group I feel sorry for because I think Bamco is yanking them along.
Some expect this to be the greatest DB/anime fighter ever - This is the group I'm a part of, I think the gameplay and mechanics and character design are there but I don't expect it to be SF or anything.

I'm one of the ones expecting it to be a great story experience, though my expectation aren't all that high. Step one of being a great story experience is just not repeating the same Raditz to Buu story mode (with a few changed to allow it to be condensed). Adding in Toki Toki, the Time Kaioshin, Towa, Mira and Demigra and the twists of screwing up history have already made the experience 80% better to me, and I haven't even played it yet. Whatever portion of the plot remains untold to us right now, no matter how bad honestly, it simply can't ruin the fact that I'm playing a game where I'm not recycling "Raditz Arrives, fight him with Goku and Piccolo. Piccolo kills Goku and Raditz with Makankosappo. Potentially included training fights to prepare for Nappa and Vegeta. Fight against Saibaimen (if included). Fight Nappa. Fight Nappa. Fight Nappa. Fight Vegeta." for the umpteenth time.
Now we have "Raditz arriving, fight him as Goku and Piccolo... Raditz dodged Gohan's headbutt. Piccolo only kills Goku because Raditz manages to escape, etc." because new characters like causing chaos. Even though I know Towa and Mira are going to be screwing up everything, the specifics will keep me more on my toes. It's nice.

Understandable, SF is pure fighting so idk how this can be lumped in with pure fighters anyways, this more of an MMO/Adventure than a fighter.P5BLDV wrote:Those days are clearly gone lol. I don't see how really. The entire gameplay is well ........fighting. It isn't like Naruto where there's a segment in story mode where you fight hack n' slash style. There are a few mini games sure but for the most part you're fighting head to head. Story mode doesn't involve you fighting hordes of generic grunts on open maps grinding for the best gear and weapons. It has a cinematic(maybe), you fight a guy using the game's combat engine and so on.Sigh-Ya-Jin wrote:Understandable, SF is pure fighting so idk how this can be lumped in with pure fighters anyways, this more of an MMO/Adventure than a fighter.P5BLDV wrote:Those days are clearly gone lol. ^That is the list of game mechanics, and there's been a few added since the NT as well. The majority of time, money and resources went into the fighting engine. When you complete story and all the parallel quests, you're left with local vs, online vs, online 2v2, 3v3 and online tournament. 5 fighting modes vs 2 story based modes which still involve the same fighting engine as the muliplayer along with a possible survival mode or time attack.
The difference between SF and this game is that SF is its own universe which started as a video game and can thus focus on its main objective which is fighting. Anyone buying SF knows what they are going for. An anime game sold as a fighter(which XV obviously is) has the problem of catering to those who want some form of single player experience while delivering some measure of fan service.
CaC and story mode are heavily advertised because it will draw in a wider audience of potential buyers. However those believing this game is much more than another anime fighter with some story gimmicks and bells and whistles are about to get Destiny'd.

It's always best to play the game and make sure you like it before buying the season pass. There is no time limit on season passes so there is no pressure to buy it before it's gone.Saimaroimaru wrote:An additional $25 when including the season pass...back in the day the extra stuff would just be in the retail version of the game(with extraneous unlock gameplay requirements) or regulated to its sequel. Yes, they are digital and they never run out, nor do they have a time limit before you can no longer buy them. Gamestop sells digital goods, that's why you can pre-order the season pass there, but the season pass will be available straight from PSN and Xbox Live when the game comes out for the exact same price.Gyt Kaliba wrote:Wait, the Season Passes are just digital, aren't they? I assumed that you'd have to order that kind of thing straight from PSN/etc. via your system.
There's not a chance of these running out, I assume? I should be able to get the game in and then get the Season Pass, I would hope.

I've not really noticed Xenoverse getting much talk between this forum's topic or the Bandai Namco trailers, well, guess you could include the Facebook posts too but it's not a whole lot. I'd bet that for most gamers this'll be a game they won't even know it's out until someone like IGN reviews it and then says "oh cool another DBZ game... again" or "why do they keep making these DBZ games? who even buys them?".
P.S.: I'm not hating on Dragon Ball games it's just that their popularity has shrunk within the last couple of years and aside from the DB fanbase it's not as if it matters to the rest.

Well, for February there's The Order, Resident Evil: Revelations II and Dying Light. That's something, not a whole lot but still sufficient for some.
More on this: http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/feb ... deo-games/
Evolve was once a great concept for a game but due to the DLC butchering they fucked it up.

Quick Question. Are you able to change created Characters during Story Mod Missions? Since they are seemingly free to enter in Toki-Toki?

The character you make at the start is the only one you get to use throughout the game and you can only change his/her attacks and clothes.Friggin_Krillin wrote:Quick Question. Are you able to change created Characters during Story Mod Missions? Since they are seemingly free to enter in Toki-Toki?

Nope, each character is stuck to story mode, if you make a new character you have to start from the beginning with that character, just like in an RPG or MMO, but you can apparently give items from one of your characters to another.Friggin_Krillin wrote:Quick Question. The highest viewed Xenoverse video has 981k views and it didn't even reach a million yet so its popularity is still to reach as high as some people here would wish for it to go.
If Akira Toriyama had named him "Fire Saiyan" no one would be complaining or mocking him. Also, "Pikelo" is no worse than "Friеza" or "Tîеn".
ShitIsland oh that steals content from other websites and then watermarks to make it theirs.. great website that is. :-/So over 2,000-3,000 comments on almost every article related to the game in Saiyan Island, almost a million views for the story trailer in A MONTH, and many articles from many websites isn't "getting much talk"?
It's understandable that there's gamers who already want all the characters unlocked since other games do it and as far as that YouTube "exposed" video it's no surprise they didn't know too much considering it was still a new DBZ movie. Typical DBZ fans taking it too seriously.Fuck IGN, man. They're a bunch of fake fans anyway. "Friеza" and "Tîеn" are Funimation's spellings of the names, it makes sense that people use those. Pikelo is literally nothing.dbboxkaifan wrote: If Akira Toriyama had named him "Fire Saiyan" no one would be complaining or mocking him. Also, "Pikelo" is no worse than "Friеza" or "Tîеn".

Not gonna lie...I like the name Fire Saiyan! Though on the topic. I think Xenoverse has enough exposure to have a satisfying release and over time people will look into it, friends will recommend and lend Xenoverse to other friends. Kinda like Monster Hunter!
