The Japanese Dragonball voice cast are largely top of the tree in the industry these days. Hell, for BOG, they brought Furuya back just for a couple of lines. Bringing that cast together is expensive, no matter how you look at it.JulieYBM wrote: All of DC's animated series typically use 'celebrity voice talent', so the higher pay is already factored in to that.

I have to give them props for being able to bring the cast together. Ultimately, if forced to choose between that and the animation, I'd probably pick the cast too. Who knows when they'll start retiring from voice acting altogether?
I have a guess they started F this year instead of next because they don't know when Nozawa will be ready to retire.
I'd imagine it's possible she'll train a replacement at some point (doesn't she own a voice acting studio?) but no one really knows.

So um do you guys think Freeza will fight any battles in his first form, or will he go straight to his final form before engaging the Z fighters?
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
If that's the case then hopefully we'll get the 3rd movie in 2017 which I think could be the last we get in the 10 years between Buu and the final Tenkaichi.Chuquita wrote: I have a guess they started F this year instead of next because they don't know when Nozawa will be ready to retire.
Year 2 : Yo son Goku and his friends return
year 4 : Battle of gods
year 7 : Revival of F
Year 8or9 : 3rd movie
Year 10 : Final Tenkaichi
It will be interesting to see what they do in the 3rd movie and if they'll do anything set after the final Tenkaichi.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

One of the best mecha animes out there, but I'm not fan of that animation. No matter how much it cost, it all goes down to personal preference.JulieYBM wrote: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann was produced on a higher-end budget of $180,000-200,000 an episode.
Don't know about numbers but when it comes to shounens: Gintama, HunterxHunter 2011 and FMA Brotherhood were the best out there, these last years.
Talking about episodes, barely anything comes close to those three.
Dragon Ball is by far one (if not the one) of the most well looking series from his era. I always thought the anime was ahead of his time (mainly DBZ).
From animation to BGM it was flawless.
Goku is like Mickey Mouse. Nozawa is iconic and they shouldn't change his voice drastically but instead try to keep it as closer as possible.Chuquita wrote: I have a guess they started F this year instead of next because they don't know when Nozawa will be ready to retire.
No idea who can replace Nozawa as Goku jap voice but I don't wanna think about that now.

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Probably not too different from Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Bones shows are typically afforded two things: talented episode directors and animators and time. Tanaka Hironori, Kameda Yoshimichi and other talented key animators were given the time and the sheets to produce a lot of really good action and character scenes. I do know that Episode #19 used ten thousand sheets, more than twice the usual number of cels in an episode. The majority of the sheets probably went to Kameda's scene where Roy burns Lust. Kameda even did the in-between animation for that scene, too.FortuneSSJ wrote:FMA Brotherhood were the best out there, these last years.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Mr Famicom is a notorious troll across message boards, so don't believe what he says regarding budgets. The movie's staff even laughed that figure off on Twitter, saying they'd be paid more if the films were that high a budget.
Who is Mr Famicom? Amid Amidi? Where was this comment made on Twitter? An 80 minute film costing a couple million when an average TV episode can cost $500,000 is entirely plausible and has proven to be the case with other films.
Other movies like Rugrats, Spongebob, South Park, Recess, Wild Thornberry's etc all cost vastly more than the price of a few episodes stacked together for obvious reasons.
All of DC's animated series typically use 'celebrity voice talent', so the higher pay is already factored in to that.
Looking at DC's last few series they haven't had the names that the movies have been getting. There isn't a celebrity voice in every episode either whereas the movies may have a few. Michael B Jordon, Bryan Cranston, Sean Astin, Michelle Monaghan and Peter Weller have all voiced in recent movies.
It cost six million because the production team didn't know how to spend their money wisely, to say nothing of paying folks by the hour, instead of by their quantity or quality of work.
Which was an increase from a number that would have still been in the millions over 20 years ago. To go back even further (almost 30 years) the Transformers animated movie also cost $6 million.
"The film was budgeted at $6 million, six times greater than the budget used to create 90 minutes of the regular cartoon series."
So this idea of yours that there's no way that this upcoming 2015 Dragon Ball Z full lenght movie that's going to be released on the big screen, in IMAX, in 3D could cost as much as $500,000 the price of 3 average anime TV episodes is not just obviously wrong but lacking in all common sense.
There is no conceivable scenario where this movie cost anything but millions to produce.

I wonder if we'll see 2nd and 3rd form Frieza or if he'll jump straight to his final form from his 1st one. >.>

I don't get why Toriyama doesn't want to draw more DB. It's not like he's stopped drawing manga and he doesn't have to do the brutal weekly schedule if he doesn't want to.singsing wrote:Manga is pretty much close to 100% impossible at this point if you're talking about Toriyama writing it.Careless Saiyajin wrote:I hope it leaves something that can justify more manga, anime shows, or anime films. It was the inking that he especially disliked, wasn't it? Part of why ssj's hair is the color it is was so he and his assistant wouldn't have to ink as much?
You can't fully escape the "inking" step via computer either; you won't have to put up with the smell, but the time it takes is still there (there is the "fill" button, but even after that you still have to color the remaining outline that's left after you use fill).

Yeah but there is Jaco the Patrolman which he did as recently as 2013. Unless he decided to stop doing manga after that? You'd think the RoF manga would be a perfect project for him, but oh well.

Yeah he's done drawing manga. Jaco/Minus were his last weren't they? He still likes coming up with the stories which is why I think more movies are on the way, and I think he'd even like Toei to do a new series with him more involved, but not writing the script for every episode either, but that's just my opinion.

That's fine let him give us the story and Naho Oooshi or someone can do the art I soppose even though Mr.Toriyama's work will always be my favorite.

I went to go see when the second BOG trailer came out (short ver. 2/21, long ver. 2/27). Now I'm anxious the next F trailer won't even happen this month. ^^; (What with the nationwide release being a few weeks post BOG's.)
Hope we at least get the character page on the website.

No, the Ginyu Frog was most likely transported to Earth along with everyone else (at least that's what happened in anime filler!). But he would've died when Boo destroyed the planet, and then would probably NOT be revived by Porunga since they asked him to not revive 'really evil people'.Lord Beerus wrote:Nah, the Ginyu Frog died when Namek exploded. They seem to be really generous with that statement, I doubt he got excluded from being revived.Puto wrote:No, the Ginyu Frog was most likely transported to Earth along with everyone else (at least that's what happened in anime filler!). I fully expect an upcoming RoF interview in which Toriyama states that Ginyu later participated in an animal circus and was reformed through his love of entertaining audiences with his various poses, thus justifying his revival during the Buu arc.
Or, more likely, he'll show up with no explanation and leave everyone annoyed.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
I would never say Ginyu wasn't 'evil', but having recently re-watched his portion of material via Kai...he did have a bit of an honor code for a villain, not wanting Jeice's help to fight Goku. Though he also was ready to jump ship to Goku's body as soon as it was obvious he couldn't beat him...so he's a complicated case for sure, but definitely still counts as evil, since he gets way too much fun out of killing people for Freeza's cause.

...Is it sad that I actually kind of want this now?MagicBox wrote:I fully expect an upcoming RoF interview in which Toriyama states that Ginyu later participated in an animal circus and was reformed through his love of entertaining audiences with his various poses, thus justifying his revival during the Buu arc.
