When does the Capsule Corporation logo first appear?
Anyone know when the Capsule Corporation logo first appears? It's not there on the capsules in Chapter 1, on the capsule house in Chapter 2, nor the capsule store in the Toninjinka town, or the first time Goku visits Bulma in West City and stops by the Capsule Corporation headquarters.
Off the top of my head I'm thinking it appears in the Z era, with the spaceship to Namek.
Also, wasn't there an interview where Toriyama says that he enjoyed designing logo's like that, because after all, he was a designer before he became a manga-ka? I'd love to quote it.
Thanks.

Wow. I'd never thought of this before. But now that you mention it, I think it's entirely possible it never shows up until it appears on Trunks's jacket. I can't recall it ever appearing in Goku's spaceship. The word "CAPSULE" is written on the outside of the ship, with "CORP." in smaller lettering under it, but still no logo. Let me check...
...
Okay, after a cursory glance, I found out I'm at least partially wrong. The earliest example of the "C within a C" graphic that I can find is in volume 21. It appears on the archway to the compound in the same chapter that shows Blooma and her father working on God's spaceship. The same version of the logo appears on Blooma's spacesuit and, at the end of the Freeza arc, on the giant ship used to pick up the survivors on earth.
That said, I still do think Trunks's jacket is the first time the full, commonly accepted Capsule Corp. logo (the "C within a C" graphic with the words "Capsule Corp." wrapped around the bottom of said graphic*) appears.
*ie., this:

TyroKith just told me that this is the first example he's seen.
It's the cover of tankobon volume #14, which went on sale August 10, 1988. You can see the CC logo on the motorcyle.
Following this, there's the cover art for Chapter 199, 3 months later.
So this is the earliest known example so far. Prior to this, the official logo of the Capsule Corporation are the English words of "Capsule Corp."

Thanks, Lord Beerus. It's always nice to hear from a fan.
I've been a member of the forum since 2009, and have been coming to the site since 1998 when it first started as DaizenshuuEX.
I'd love to join you for pudding some day. We'll have Bulma's chefs cook some extra in case Buu comes by.
I appreciate the kind words. Keeps me going.

Oh yeah I've seen that book you wrote on both Amazon and the Google App store. I come across it from time to time and wonder if I should get it but then think that I probably already know most of the information in there. Is there a preview sample available anywhere?

Re: When does the Capsule Corporation logo first appear?
To quote Toonbarn.com's review of Dragon Ball Culture Volume 1, it's "For Dragon Ball fans who think they know everything." In short, I wrote it for fans like you.
Most of the information is unprecedented or presented in a fresh way. It took me 11 years to write because I had to figure things out that had never been figured out. Especially in Volume 3, where I talk about Goku's training mentality. And in Volume 1 there's interview material with Toriyama that has never been published in any language besides Japanese. SaiyaJedi translated it for me.
All of the sites have a free sample available. For example, on Amazon you click the cover image where it says "Look Inside." For Google Play, click the "Free Sample" button. You can read the first 20% of the book.

That's good to know then, I'll look it up now and then see what to do. It might be an interesting read when I'm just sitting around on the train.

It'd be pretty clever if it was first seen on Trunks jacket. It'd lessen the obviousness of the logo and greatly retain the mysterious of Trunks.Gaffer Tape wrote:Wow. Re: When does the Capsule Corporation logo first appear?
Would it have really retained the mysteriousness of Trunks? I mean Bulma pretty much says when they are waiting for Goku that the jacket has the capsule corp logo on it and asks if he is an employee. Also taking into account that the very first chapter he appears properly you can clearly see a third of the word of "capsule" written on his jacket.TheUltimateVegito wrote:It'd be pretty clever if it was first seen on Trunks jacket.
