So not sure if I ever got an answer for my question answered. Are there two story modes one with your custom char and one with the original Z story? I could of sworn some guy in a interview said there would be two story modes.

Granted, I'm only a bit into the Freeza arc...Psycho50501 wrote:So not sure if I ever got an answer for my question answered. Are there two story modes one with your custom char and one with the original Z story? I could of sworn some guy in a interview said there would be two story modes.
But no, not that I'm aware of...?
There's the straight-up story mode where you're your custom character and you're fixing things in history. It's basically the Z story as-is... just... as you're fixing it.
Then there are the Parallel Quest missions you can undertake from the hub world, which are variations on those fights from the story mode, but you don't HAVE TO fight as your custom character if you don't want to.

All this talking about it makes me want to load up my custom character and start playing already! I'll probably stick to my custom for the side quests and everything, at least at first.VegettoEX wrote:Granted, I'm only a bit into the Freeza arc...Psycho50501 wrote:So not sure if I ever got an answer for my question answered. Ugh This game had/has so much potential I feel like this game could have been o much better if they had dropped the create a character system and focus on gameplay, all important characer inclusion, a lot different/unque combo ad moves, make all moves as destructive as the anime and better story mode. 3 years would have been enough time to get this all right.

Try the game first and you'll find it has most of the important things you are talking about.Friezaa! wrote:Ugh This game had/has so much potential I feel like this game could have been o much better if they had dropped the create a character system and focus on gameplay, all important characer inclusion, a lot different/unque combo ad moves, make all moves as destructive as the anime and better story mode. 3 years would have been enough time to get this all right.

When I see these kinds of responses, I don't think people truly understand what goes into these games.Friezaa! wrote:Ugh This game had/has so much potential I feel like this game could have been o much better if they had dropped the create a character system and focus on gameplay, all important characer inclusion, a lot different/unque combo ad moves, make all moves as destructive as the anime and better story mode. 3 years would have been enough time to get this all right.
It basically reads as, "If all they would do is [spend inordinate amount of time on licensed property that cannot sustain that budget or time investment], then we would get ___________".
I mean, yeah: if they made exactly what you wanted, you would get exactly what you wanted.
But Dragon Ball can't sustain that. It just can't. It's not the kind of property that sells enough of an install base to justify that kind of monetary and time investment. Even if you somewhat ignore the passed-as-gospel quote of "must have one game ever year" stipulation, they've done everything they can do to alleviate development timeframe concerns by putting out Ultimate Blast/Tenkaichi into Dragon Ball Z for Kinect while farming out Battle of Z all while at the same time bringing things back to Dimps to work on the game. It's like a mini, franchised version of Call of Duty and its... what, three now?... studios working on "every (blank) years" kinds of schedules.
You're not going to get a massive roster with each character having individualized move sets and combos, while also having massive/destructible environments, while also having in-depth story mode (or modes!), while also having a robust character creation mode, while also having flawless netcode, and so on and so forth.
That just can't happen here.
The fact that this game is what it is should be seen as nothing less than a miracle. Personally, I see it as their Hail Mary. If it doesn't work at all, they're just going to go right back to dumping everything into Heroes in Japan and abandon this console nonsense while they still can.

And as VegettoEX put it; a miracle it is. Besides, if everyone who is interested in these games shows support when something as impressive as XENOVERSE is put together then perhaps a sequel to build upon it may occur. But the real point is that XENOVERSE is very well put together and meets or exceeds our reasonable expectations.VegettoEX wrote:When I see these kinds of responses, I don't think people truly understand what goes into these games.Friezaa! wrote:Ugh This game had/has so much potential I feel like this game could have been o much better if they had dropped the create a character system and focus on gameplay, all important characer inclusion, a lot different/unque combo ad moves, make all moves as destructive as the anime and better story mode. 3 years would have been enough time to get this all right.

I'm trying to watch streams that are only doing random exhibition matches, not advancing in the story or doing any quests. You know, XV is doing really good on Twitch for not being released in NTSC or PAL regions. I bet even more streams will cover it by March. Heck, it may even be the first DB game to get its cover art on Twitch's game list.

you will never have a dbz game without flaws.
and what you said can be said about any game.

Dont need to play it to know its already lacking. I expect it to be entertaining some what like all previous dimps (dbz ofourse) games are. but its missing a lot, and could have been far better if they dropped the silly create a character system and focused on the damn characters from the anime..Careless Saiyajin wrote:Try the game first and you'll find it has most of the important things you are talking about.Friezaa! wrote:Ugh This game had/has so much potential I feel like this game could have been o much better if they had dropped the create a character system and focus on gameplay, all important characer inclusion, a lot different/unque combo ad moves, make all moves as destructive as the anime and better story mode. 3 years would have been enough time to get this all right.
the moves arent as destructive and on impact look more like something from street fighters, the moves arent enough (theyve shown move list for some characters already) , and they're missing some important characters, where the ... is dabura? he was boss in budokai 3 and tenkaichi 3!

The game can not be tailored to your exact needs, I'm not going any further with this because I don't think you're here to have discussion but just want to cover your own ears and yell at people that everything is terrible.Friezaa! wrote:Dont need to play it to know its already lacking. I wouldn't be even half as excited about this game if it weren't for CaC system. It's just such a new thing for DB games (sans UT, but that isn't 5% what XV is doing) and they've even set up a (decently) fresh premise for it. The sheer amount of customizations is astounding, and just about any character, established or original, can be made with it. Without the CaC system, I would consider XV okay at best.

2015 ladies and gentlemen, where the last thing people want to do with video games is actually play them. Virtual dress up is apparently the highest priority here.Super SaiyaJon wrote:I wouldn't be even half as excited about this game if it weren't for CaC system.
