Wish is to bring back Freeza and undo everything after that point (except from the perspective of Goku, Vegeta, Beerus, and Whis... who are somehow "out of the universe" or something training, so they retain all their memories).

This movie is about defeating Freeza and putting an end to that nonsense. But history is still changed.

Time Patrol Trunks shows up at the very end. Marty, we've got to do something about your kids.

BOOM. Multimedia franchise crossover pulling in all the time/history correction stuff (Online/Xenoverse/Heroes) for the third new movie.

There was that Naruto Road to Ninja movie that had something similar to that. It wasn't an alternate timeline that needed to be fixed but they got stuck in an alternate reality that had a different history. Naruto's parents were still alive and the villain was that realities Naruto, so an evil Naruto.

I suppose a Dragon Ball version could be interesting but I'd be more interested in a movie where they go to another universe.

I'm sure Whis will get more screentime to explore his character to a degree. And don't count on a rematch for Goku vs Superman. ScrewAttack don't do rematches. (Even though Goku would totally win)

The Road To Ninja actually had a really good concept but it wasn't really explored that well. All we got from the move was that Sakura should grateful about her parents and... well... that was it. The whole alternate universe trope is actually one of the more interesting and simple plot devices you can throw in any story. But more than often stories end up underusing the trope, like the the Road To Ninja movie did, where were only see the AU cast of Naruto for at most five minutes in a near two hour movie. If Dragon Ball is gonna go into different universes, I'd rather it be a completely different universe, with a different set of rules and a different set of characters.

I think if Dragon Ball did an AU story like that, I'd want it to be something like the Elorius arc from Fairy Tail, where the rules of how their powers work are so changed that even the heaviest hitters have trouble fighting back against mooks. It could also lead to them going back to more of a martial arts focus again, where they don't all have flight, giant beam attacks and transformations. It would be kinda cool.

Seriously speaking though, I'm just not fond of the idea of multiverses, time travel, and all that stuff. I'm not saying I'm not up for change in the Dragon Ball universe or anything, but if we were to have some event where say an evil villain travels back in time and messes up the previous events or there's a universe where Goten never existed, it would just bug me for some reason. Time travel brings about too many plot holes and multiverses just come off as weird to me for some reason. I mean I only got behind the whole time travel Trunks thing was because it was an alternate universe and even then I consider the Cell arc one of my least favorite arcs because of the whole weird multiverse aspect thing.

For Alternate history are we going with Freeza is wished back and then it screws up a timeline where everyone is sent to or just the movie begins in some alternate timeline? Not a fan of that one..

I'd be okay with an alternate timeline so long as it sticks. I want the characters to be able to die and stay dead. I don't want the Uub chapters to gets us stuck in the proverbial corner. I want to sweat it when I watch the movie and I want to know when I sweat it it is for real.
