Thank goodness. I was worried.

On the whole "redo Season 1" thing, honestly, all I'd want is to have it redone with Dragon Box footage. I don't think you should mess with the recording or the jokes. Sure, the Myspace joke is super out of date now, but its reflective of its time, and it shows the progression of the Team as writers and as actors. It would be a shame to lose that.

Of course, this would all be dependent on y'all (and by y'all, I basically mean Kaiser) having the time to go back and edit the footage.

I like how he did Goku, I was hoping for Gohan to sound the same way.
Two things:

1. Future Gohan is very, very different from Goku in this. Trust us, MasakoX would not have been the appropriate choice.

2. This special is actually remarkably non-serious. Which is why this teaser is humorous to me; it's one hundred percent serious.
The Future Trunks special is almost oppressively dour the whole way through so I am very curious to see how you guys went about this

I'm expecting a callback to the "disarmed" joke from season 1.

Not sure I should be posting this here, but can't really think of where else (don't have a TFS forums account, too lazy to make one for a single topic).
Anyway, not sure this has been discussed before, but am I the only one who has noticed the degradation of video quality ever since the episodes were switched from being hosted on blip.tv to the new website?
For comparisons sake, here's a picture comparing the new website version, YouTube version, and old blip.tv version of Lord Slug Abridged. The new website version has a noticeably higher amount of macroblocking, even in 720p mode. Meanwhile the version I downloaded from blip.tv (they're no longer hosted there btw, at least I can't find them if they are). Even when I download directly from the source of this new host (which is a pain in the ass, by the way), it's still more compressed than the old version. I have all of the episodes from when they were hosted on blip.tv up to episode 27 and the difference is visible with every one (blip.tv versions looking like they were unaltered at around 250MB each). Anyone care to fill me in as to why this is? Is there an extra level of recompression going on with the new service TFS is using?
This is mainly an issue (for me at least) for the episodes/specials in 480p, the ones Kaiser has rendered in 720p on YouTube look great since YouTube allows for higher bit rates at that resolution.

Comparison: http://i4.minus.com/ibm3iAMgaYRR7W.png

Filesize/BR Example: http://i3.minus.com/iizkLn5Ede3d8.png

I know it's not too big of an issue to some, but I thought it was worth bringing up. Thanks.

I'm just going to flat out predict that Cell's self-destruction attempt when Goku takes him to King Kai's planet will end with a WTF Boom joke. If it doesn't happen, that's cool. If it does happen...well you'll definitely see me repeating Cooler's line or something. XD

I almost forgot the likely call back joke. Vegeta's rage transcends time and reaches Future Trunks. Hope to see that in the special....and maybe a February 20th release date

...Dammit Roshi. Just...dammit.

Though I have to admit, that's not what I thought he was about to ask...I was imagining something...well...worse.

My god do I love Master Roshi's laugh. Utter madness and senility in that cackle.

That was pretty funny lol.

But the comments depress me. "This will be definitely better than the original (the actual TV Special)" :lolno:

ShadowDude112 wrote:Hey, Kaiser, would you ever consider re-doing Season 1 of Abridged? You know, better video (Dragon Box), better audio, better jokes (no offense to you, but they're incredibly unfunny looking back), less Vegeta3986 in the voice cast, knock on Chaozu a bit more since he's the most useless fighter in the arc, and less Vegeta3986 in the writing department. I mean, I feel Season 1 is the weakest of them all, and I feel because you hadn't gotten your footing yet, and if you re-did it, it would be on par with the rest of the series.
Ugh-uh. I really liked their season 1!

You mean this?
I sure hope they managed to make it more entertaining than a movie that basically amounted to Trunks getting slapped around like a cheap whore for nearly half of a 48 minute long feature. Ah, who am I kidding? This is Team Four Star. This will be FAR superior to the original, like everything they’ve done so far. TFS is life, TFS is love.
I DO hope Gohan shouts “DODGE!!” right before the last kick in the seaside cliff training sequence…

You gotta ignore those people. They only like us more because we're newer and we're different. They're only a small percentage of our fans and we get a lot more poeple talking about how much they either loved the original and look forward to our version, or have gone back and rewatched it because of us. Which, really, is what we want.

Same here!
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.
