Not really cutscenes, and more or less, slideshows with text and images of the characters. It's a really lazy storymode.Bullza wrote:Yes, it very much does.
With cutscenes and everything?

Don't let the lazy storymode discourage you. There is still tons of fanservice and the multiplayer is quite fun and addicting.Bullza wrote:Ah I see, will not buy.

From what he's said in the Xenoverse thread, he only plays the story modes...Lord Beerus wrote:Don't let the lazy storymode discourage you. There is still tons of fanservice and the multiplayer is quite fun and addicting.Bullza wrote:Ah I see, will not buy.

Indeed, that may sound strange to some people but I like story modes in my fighting games. That's why I look forward to Xenoverse and couldn't have cared less about Raging Blast 2.
And it's just annoying knowing this developer got the rare chance to make a game like this that has DBZ, One Piece, Naruto, Bleach etc characters all together then they don't take the opportunity to make a unique story where they meet up and interact. The possibilities that they could have come up with and yet they do nothing at all with it.

Re: J-Stars Victory VS+ (Western Release) for PS3/Vita/PS4
The game does have a story mode where all the (main) characters meet up and interact. It's just not fully animated. Which, for a game that originally came out on PS3 and Vita, is extremely lazy on their part. I would expect this for maybe a PSP game, but not a PS3 & Vita game.Bullza wrote:Indeed, that may sound strange to some people but I like story modes in my fighting games. But I understand what you mean, I buy all my games for the story mode too. That's why the 1st Budokai is my favorite and I couldn't care less about games like Super Dragon Ball Z.
Re: J-Stars Victory VS+ (Western Release) for PS3/Vita/PS4
You're right the way the story is presented is just like Naruto Ultimate Ninja Impact on the PSP but at least that had voice acting, this doesn't even that going for it and it's a recent PS3 game.
Re: J-Stars Victory VS+ (Western Release) for PS3/Vita/PS4
Yeah, even a three year-old PSP game had more production value put into its story mode than a one year-old PS3 game, which is disappointing to say the least. But still, since it's the 1st time a game like this will make its way to Western shores, with plenty of fanservice and no cut characters to boot, I'm still going to get it, despite my qualms.Bullza wrote:You're right the way the story is presented is just like Naruto Ultimate Ninja Impact on the PSP but at least that had voice acting, this doesn't even that going for it and it's a recent PS3 game.

Re: J-Stars Victory VS+ (Western Release) for PS3/Vita/PS4
It's been confirmed that we're getting all characters (playable and support) from the original Japanese version, so we can probably assume the same is true of levels, and we do know that we're getting the story mode. As far as I know, that pretty much covers everything from the original.mikezilla2 wrote:so are we getting everything that came in the original plus more ?
As for the '+' meaning we get more stuff though, so far that just seems to be an Arcade mode, and they're balancing out things in the game a bit more. Despite rampant speculation, I don't think there's been any real hint of any additional characters coming to it.
Oh, and it's also going to be on PS4 now, not just PS3 and Vita. So there's that too.

The story mode can get repetitive, but I found it to be a good opportunity to test out the variety of characters. Luckily, you don't have to trudge through storymode to unlock all the characters. The other modes provide you with enough currency to buy what you need.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

I'm starting to go rage-broke Vegeta over needing this game at this point.

Official site now available.
And a new hidden trailer.
This trailer is specifically for Dragon Ball, so the other animes also have their own. Don't know why they are locked, though.

Thank God for the trailers featuring characters from other series. I get seriously mad whenever people call this the "Dragon Ball vs Naruto vs One Piece videogame".
Sorry, I can't speak English very well, but I'm trying my best.

Well, not to defend their outlook too much, but it is the other most high-profile crossover game, after Battle Stadium D.O.N., that more casual fans will have heard of, so there is that.Wobbuffet wrote:Thank God for the trailers featuring characters from other series. Honestly, I'm kind of hoping this game makes some of these other titles a bit more recognizable, and creates some kind of demand for some of these manga to come over. I realize it's a crazy dream, but man, I really want to read KochiKame dammit. Viz. Viz, please.
Edit: Okay, who voices Taro Yamada? Cuz I swear I know that voice. I almost want to say it's Tanaka again.
