Hum... When planet Vegeta was destroyed, Jaco was already on Earth (losing contact with the HQ) or still on Space (but didn't have any method to get contact with the others, which I think it is most unlikely), that is why he didn't mention it.
737, 738 and 739 would be "three years", in the same way the the Cell Arc to Buu Arc is "seven years"...even though it's actually like 6 and 11 months when Gohan starts high school.
Jaco the Galactic Patrolman has the Galactic Patrol state they have a ship leaving planet Vegeta and send Jaco after it. Freeza is due to exterminate the Saiyans in a month, so if it took any longer than that to get to Earth, Jaco would still be in space with his radio (which he broke on Earth and Bluma fixed).

Four months of training is shorter than I'd have liked, but it's not like this is the first time this has happened. Goku went from fighting Vegeta to Super Saiyan in much less time, not to mention Goten and Trunks, who never had to work for anything.
Cautiously optimistic, though I'm not appreciating some of the details.
AT may as well bring Cell back and make him GOD too. Since everyone can become a god these days, and can achieve the power with only 4 months of training.
After being trapped in that hell being tortured by the MomoClo angels for seventeen years, Freeza develops a fear of pop music. Think of it like Captain Hook and the clock ticking in that crocodile (Smeeee!! X3 ).
Unable to match him in power, Gokû and Vegeta form a band and defeat him with the power of song. (Un-tan!).
Piccolo and Bulma are the back up singers.
I'm just messing around. Trying to cheer myself up. :3

Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

I love the continual assumption that we know everything that's going on when we most likely probably don't. Because I'm sure they'd totally spill every bean right up front in this manga before the movie even comes out, right?

Truthfully, I would love to see Frieza allying himself with the others in the same vein Dr. Doom did when he teamed up with the rest of the Marvelverse to "stop" Thanos. He'd still be fucking evil and wouldn't turn over a new leaf like Piccolo or Vegeta.
That's just me. I'm pro-Frieza-living.

Exactly, the movie contains the story not in some spin off manga, this no different to what DC are doing, an Arkham Knight comic series starting this month or next and the game is out in June. Are they really going spoil the game's plot in a comic book? Nope.

I really do hate the author's immunity. I'm sure Toriyama might...might....make this work. But honestly if I posted this information in the fan works thread, and no one knew this was Toriyama's idea, would people still think it all sounds really good? It really feels like fanfiction to me so far.
Actually I wonder if we should put this to the test. Let's check out Fanficton.net, Deviantart, or some place with fanfics. Search the oldest ones with Freeza returning, and let's see how they compare idea wise to this.

I wasn't even alive when Dragon Ball was in serialization so I can only imagine the fans' reaction to each new release every week. I know this is just 3 chapters, but I now understand how those fans must have felt. I can only hope we have more manga projects in the future of such a serious nature, be it from Toriyama himself, Toyotaro or a new artist.
So, Freeza is revived and then trains for four months? I don't see what so fan ficy about this? It is no different to Goku going away for 7 years and coming back with SS3, or Vegeta going off to space and randomly becoming a Super Saiyan. Or Trunks and Goten becoming SS right off the bat, or Freeza's infamous 5 minutes or Goku conveniently having new techniques like Instant Transmission. Do these sound like Fan Fiction too?

I agree. Same goes for the whole SSJG and God ki thing.
Personally though, as long as the movie is cool, the action is intense, the tone is more serious than BoG, and Frieza is still the coldest mother****er in the neighborhood, I care little about what a contrived asspull the majority of the plot is, which is essentially what I expected it to be from the get-go. =P

I'm complaining about what we know that doesn't really jive with previously established information, but I'm still really excited for the movie and willing to wait for its release before passing judgement. Even if I end up not liking how it works in terms of continuity, I'm sure the film will still be a fun story that I'll enjoy.
Most likely it will just be the trying to deal with the inconsistencies for my own stuff that annoys me. xD
