I hope a live action DB movie never happens... again. DB just doesn't translate well into live action. Keep it animated.

Kung-Fu Hustle is the best we'll ever get to a Dragon Ball movie.
There is no Dragon Ball canon.

It's normal. After all, there has never been a U.S. live action DBZ movie.

None of the live action films of DB should exist because they're all awful and Toei's right to not hand out the rights to Z, however it's a shame they allowed companies to make live action movies based on DB.

Even the fan live actions don't look very good so.. yeah.
FUNimation 2015 Releases I want:

The fan live action stuff may not look the best (although I thought it looked great personally) but you do have to give them some credit for at least putting forth an effort to try and be faithful to the source material with their work.
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out. ;).

This video is old news. They got their facts wrong since Fox got the movies rights from Shueisha, not Toei. I do think a proper DBZ live action movie can work depending how works on the movie. If they do a proper American Godzilla movie after 15 years later of the last film then anything is possible. If what he said is true then I'm not surprise if Toei and Shueisha don't want another live action movie then I don't think we will see another live action film until the next decade or two. Evolution was a box office and critical failure. Most studios in Hollywood probably want to stay away from Dragon Ball for a long time.

So what's this Dragon Ball Evolution...? I've never heard of it. Ever.

I've blocked that abomination out of my mind.

While some of their stuff is impressive for what they are and I've enjoyed their videos, making a live action film is a whole other matter. I'm in the camp that believes a live action DBZ film could be done and wouldn't be impossible to make good, but I'm far from convinced a channel like that could pull it off even if they had the backing of a big company.

Fair play to them for trying though.

It's just as well. Too many elements would have to be in place for a dbz film to come out even decent, and with Hollywood in the mix, that just seems more unlikely. Among those elements: a japanese cast, a moderate budget, a director that can balance comedy and action, a faithful script, and most importantly, starting the series off from dragon ball and moving into Z.

Of course some of these factors come down to preference, but all in all, its just too massive a franchise for Hollywood to get right. Possible imo, but very unlikely.

Wow, for once Toei actually makes a smart decision. Hopefully they continue to avoid these K&K amateurs like the plague. All they've proven is that they can make a low budget trailer with bad choreographed fights. They've shown zero creativity and clearly just want to ride the DBZ money train.

Seriously though, shame on Toei Europe and Manga UK for supporting this crap. They should know better.

K&K Goku vs. Superman project is going to end up terrible. They will likely have Goku win and they are going to deal with a lot of fan hate and dislikes from the Superman fanboys and DC fanobys for having Superman lose. It will be like what happen with Screw Attack all over again.

It's not a movie but Robot Underdog's live action Dragon Ball Z: Light of Hope series begins this Monday. I'm interested to see how it will turn out. The script was written by Derek Padula, the creator of The Dao of Dragon Ball website and blog.

Let Stephen Chow direct it and produce and have a major say in the project or forget it.

I don't get why people want to see K&K direct a DBZ movie. Just because they are fans does not mean that the film will be good. People seem to forget that James Wong is a fan of the franchise too. I remember him talking about how he grew up reading the manga and that this movie was a dream come true to him.

I wouldn't exactly rely on k&k as they really don't know what they're talking about.

This ^ And so it wouldn't it be possible to still make a movie that takes place in the Z era as the manga in which Evolution was based off of was only called Dragon Ball?

After I corrected them, they got all upset and started acting very immature and blocked me everywhere. I remember when I was the only website out there supporting them giving them a lot more fans and donations. If it were possible I wish they would just refund every penny they made for that embarrassing trailer.

I can't see a live action DBZ movie not happening as a bad thing. After the garbage that was Evolution, I'm sure Shueisha realized it wan'st quite worth it to make another live action DB movie. Hell I'm sure Fox realized it isn't worth doing. The series really only works well as a manga/anime. It just doesn't translate well to live action.

I get that they are fans and its nice they are trying.. good for them.

But I thought their Saiyan saga trailer was kind of bad.. just came across as cheesy I don't think Dragon Ball translates to Liveaction... and we've yet to see a Freeza saga trailer... a couple teasers two years ago but nothing since...where is it?
