Or if you're a purist, read the manga from A to Z.

He's right. I might have read this the wrong way, but anyways I'll go with what I thourght. When I first started watching the show way back years ago. I used to watch the dub that is what got me into Dragonball. I saw a few of the movies in Japanese but I thourght this sucks, I don't even understand it. So anyways I stuck with the dub but then got to an age when I didn't appreciate it as much. When I got a little older although I still liked the show and watched episodes it didn't have the same appeal as what it did when I first started watching the show. So anyways I don't know what I was up too but I decided to watch a few of the movies in Japanese and loved it, way better then the dub and it got me back into Dragonball the way I used to feel when first watching the dub. It felt more mature then the dub and it felt right watching it being older.

I don't know if that went a little off, but that was my opinion/experience of how Dragonball kept its affect as I got older.

If you're asking from a general point of view it's never to late to be a fan, I know people who have only joined the fandom this year and in some cases know more about it then me! Personally though, I really think that the height of fandom was around the nineties, but since I was a wee lad then I was completely obsessed with it. But hey, I still am!
