Shin Butouden was on the Sega Saturn. It's just a matter of what Bamco wants to do, they probably think having a 2D DBZ game wouldn't cater to the console crowd (which is dumb) so they make it exclusive to the handelds.
Anyway the oficial site went live with a character page, we can expect atleast 24 characters which, is a great number for a game like this.

24?!
Then WTF is the 100 characters exaggeration about? So the game's gonna have 24 playable characters and 76 supports? You kidding me? I'm not a roster whore, but I'll be mad if there'll be more supports than playables. Plus, what's with all of these movie and GT characters being shown if there's only gonna be 24?

I said atleast, the character page of the site has 5 tabs, the only one that we can access has 24 slots, so we won't have less than 24. Relax, there's still 4 other tabs and I wouldn't be worried if atleast 1 more had an extra 24 playable slots.

That's good to know.

Me too. That's already a lot for most fighting games, especially ones on handhelds, and having a wealth of support characters is a good way to include a larger cast without going overboard and sacrificing individuality of the playable ones.
I'm not concerned about how many characters are gonna be in this. I'm just saying I'd be surprised and mad if it's only 24 after the magazine showed the movie and GT characters. Whis, I wouldn't mind him as a support, but Beerus? Oh no.

I have to assume that one of these tabs are reserved for the "Z Assists".
If it's over 100 characters, I'm expecting 60 playable and the rest are supports (of course I hope I'm wrong). One Piece: Grand Battle! X had a similar case where there were over 85 characters and I think the game had about 30 playable.
