I'd assume he likely is ignoring Cooler/didn't remember him/doesn't count him/etc. too, but that is a pretty interesting note there, Kaboom. Good catch! You might be on to something, but only time will tell.

That's any half-way competently run business at all, really.Lord Beerus wrote:That pretty much Toei's angle with the movie and Dragon Ball as whole. Only time will tell until Toei or Bandai copies Frieza's new form, and gives it to Cooler.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
If I'm not mistaken, Toriyama-sensei didn't so much adopt the Tsufurujin as he did create them. If my memory serves me well, the entire concept of the Tsufurujin living on Planet Vegeta before it was Planet Vegeta came from a note Toriyama-sensei left the anime staff.Kaboom wrote:Something I just thought of is how, in a recent interview, Toriyama indicated that Cold and Freeza were the only ones born with such freakishly high power, and he didn't mention Coola at all. Which I find odd, considering he helped create him, and hasn't been afraid to "adopt" anime stuff like Bardock or the Tsufrians.
Now from a production perspective, it could very well still just be that Toriyama didn't remember or care about Coola since he wasn't part of the original story. But from an in-universe angle, there's this new revelation that Freeza's never trained before, and was apparently just naturally as strong as he was. So maybe that's true for Cold and Freeza... but Coola had to actually work for his power, and attain things like his "Super" form in order to surpass his brother.
Just a semi-related side thought that didn't seem worth its own thread.
Regarding Burdock, I may be wrong, but I believe he was a special case. The Father of Son Gokū special was Toriyama-sensei's favorite Dragon Ball anime work at that time, so he included Burdock in a panel or two in the manga as a result. I thought of that simply as Toriyama-sensei having a particular liking toward a character originally conceptualized by the anime staff and not so much as Toriyama-sensei considering Burdock's story as part of the story he wrote. Coola, by contrast, is a character who Toriyama-sensei didn't feel the same liking toward, I would assume. I could be way off, though.

What is your personal stance on Dragon Ball’s theatrical films, Sensei?
• I take the movies as “stories in a different dimension from the main story of the comic”. I’m entirely just an audience member for them.
Source: Here.
Seriously... How can someone actually think Akira will include movies in his original work? Or that he needs to remember something that does not fit in the manga?
All movies (except for Movie 14 and Movie 15, of course) doesn't need to be included when the author is speaking of something or someone specifically. He said about Freeza and King Cold because they are the only ones we know, if ever Freeza has/had a brother, he eventually will be mentioned or will make an appearance, though it is obvious that will not be the same concept seen in Movie 5 (Or Movie 6), and it is obvious that what happened in those movies will not be alluded.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Really... What about when Frieza destroyed planet Vegeta because he was afraid that bunch of low class saiyans posed some kind of threat too him? What about when he crapped his pants when Goku transformed into a super saiyan? What about when piccolo said during the battle of gods that just by powering up isnt enough to be able to compete with god? Goku is no longer a child with a power level of 10, Hes now a god! and he has the power that even if Frieza trained for million of years wouldnt be able to compete against him let alone only 4 months lol.Tunjevina wrote:Nobody said that Freeza will compete with SSJ God with only training, he only thinks that 4 months will be enough to surpass the power of Goku that defeated Buu. Maybe he will became a God too? But even if he does became stronger then Goku with just training, he was born thousands if not millions of times stronger then him, so his potential is logically much higher then Goku's, and it's not mentioned that only God can defeat God of Destruction or Super Saiyan God, after all, Whis is not a God and yet he is much stronger then both of them.GokuRules987 wrote:Didnt goku said in the battle of gods that the power he had obtained from the godly ki would never been able to obtain just from training and how he felt bad that he needed his friends help in order to become super saiyan god. so then how could Freeza from training be able to compete with god goku? thats right, from a PULLASS! and toriyama refusing too retire from making dragon ball.
Also you said that nobody said that Frieza will compete with ssj god with only training? well technically I wasent actually talking about ssj god Goku i was talking about base god goku because technically Goku now has godly ki even when hes not a super saiyan god. during the Beerus fight he was even able to fight Beerus with only his base form which shows he technically doesnt need to transform into super saiyan god in order to have godly ki.
And unless you think there is a possibility that Frieza training 4 months later would prove him being no where near as powerful as Goku what would be the whole point of the movie? Frieza resurrects, Frieza trains 4 months, frieza realized that Goku has godly power so he gets blinks away by Goku and movie ends? lol
If this movie took place in post cell saga maybe it would made more sense but at this point frieza needs more than 4 months to even face against piccolo or gohan

We'd need to know how much of a multiplier SSJ4 is to begin with.Kakarot9001 wrote:Coola could train 4 months to surpass SSJ4

I don't understand why some people are already bitching about "4 months of training" even though we don't yet know what the method is.
Even if it's just a normal training, what's the problem? We have seen so many instant powerups throughout the series. What's so implausible this time compared to the past ones?

Or if it will even actually be 4 months of training, since that's just Freeza's estimate. He doesn't have to be right.kei17 wrote:I don't understand why some people are already bitching about "4 months of training" even though we don't yet know what the method is.
(Though it probably will end up being only 4 months for the sake of Toriyama's wordplay.)
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Nothing has been stated about this. What we know is that they born and right after that they start to do their jobs. I don't know if training would make something different to them, but who knows?Bullza wrote:All this stuff about Freeza never training has got me wondering....did the Supreme Kai ever train?

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
So much has happened today, so I'll just vomit up some random thoughts.
1.) Yay for website updates.
2) Goku and Gohan look awesome. Tenshinhan looks awesome. Kuririn looks awesome (though I do wish he still had hair). Videl and Bulma look awesome. Everyone just looks so damn awesome.
3.) I'm sorry, I can't take Vegeta's "hands on hips" look seriously. The man looks ridiculous.
4.) Tagoma is being voiced by GAOMON. I had no idea Kazuya Nakai voiced a couple of minor roles in GT. Neato.
Bring on Yamcha and Chaozu, dammit. I would be incredibly surprised if this was the full cast. They've got to be saving something.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
The Tsufruians were created by him for the anime, so they are not exactly anime stuff. Bardock was added to the manga briefly because he liked the TV Special that much, but he completely changed his story when he recently got the chance to make his own version. He also says that he considers the movies taking place in different dimension(s) from the manga, and he has ignored the filler parts in his manga story, and also ignored GT for in his new movies. He seems to be viewing the anime as Toei's story, while he is telling his own story.Kaboom wrote:Something I just thought of is how, in a recent interview, Toriyama indicated that Cold and Freeza were the only ones born with such freakishly high power, and he didn't mention Coola at all. James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
And even though he changed his story, we have here a minor plothole, Bardock's design does not match with the one seen in Dragon Ball Minus, as we know, Bardock going to face Freeza scene from the TV Special is in the manga with that outfit. While Akira does not come up with something explaining or filling on what happened in the one-month gap, it is a inconsistency.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
It's not. People are getting their panties in a twist just because it threatens their already preconceived notions of how strong certain characters are/should be. Some people are still offended that Frieza is back at all as opposed to whoever is their personal favorite movie villain.kei17 wrote:I don't understand why some people are already bitching about "4 months of training" even though we don't yet know what the method is.

No narrative ass pull will ever top the hyperbolic time chamber as far as I'm concerned.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Or it just would be better a new character, bringing a lot more to Dragon Ball universe than a long-time dead villain, clearly brought back because... Well... Popularity or worse... Fan-service.radrappy wrote:Some people are still offended that Freeza is back at all as opposed to whoever is their personal favorite movie villain.
