There's 2 ways of approaching the asinine single player in this game.

Use a saiyan and grind for Sv2 and put most of your points into ki and blast supers or use any race and put all your points into basic attack and HP/stamina.

The first approach is for lazy people who want the game to play for them. You equip a ki charge move, power up, go gold and watch things die from a distance or you grind to level 80 like I did and sail through later missions with no difficulty by learning how the game works.

Some useful tips, step, step a lot. Don't boost, don't block, stepping is your offense and defense, keep moving. If the enemy is closing in on you, move left or right or backward. If you're chasing them, move forward. Steps can be cancelled right into jumps and the inverse is true, this is how you move around while taking little to no damage. An enemy rushing you will miss completely if you jump and you can peg them in the nose and start attacking. Get used to back attacks, they're awkward but are a good way of wasting an enemy's vanish and maintaining pressure.

Screw around on early missions to see how your character functions. Nearly every character has some kind of infinite loop for no cost. Learn that any knockaway move can be step cancelled, practice this. Any move where you vanish behind the enemy and knock them away can be guard cancelled, so instead of smacking them away you sit there and wait and can start a whole new series of hits. You don't have to be able to use every combo, just find a reliable one that gets the job done, either for damage or just as a setup for positioning.

If someone is on the ground, stop attacking. They're invisible, instead if you have a slow attack like destructo disc, wait a bit fire it then move around to their back as they get up so you can put them in an awkward situation.

NEVER use ultimates when your stamina is low, you'll be screwed unless its perfect kame or super ghost kamikaze.

I researched the hell out of this game beforehand and knew how to play from the prologue, nothing in this game could stop me, just delay or really annoy me.

Finally completed all the Parallel quests today! I'm using a Human character and was exactly at level 70 after the last one, just in time to start training under Goku.

So, I went and plumped for the DLC Season Pass. Initially, I was going to wait to see how other people reviewed the first content drop, but I'm enjoying this game so much, I just went for it.

I mean, heck, don't get me wrong - there's a dozen things wrong with this game, but I think it offers a level of flexibility and customisation that fans have been wanting for decades, and whilst not smoothing over the cracks, offers plenty of enjoyment with its sandbox elements.

What gives? I've got 25 points in ki, but I didn't get a fifth bar. Don't have any ki down items either.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Really wanting to enjoy this game, but the server is so ridiculous. It disconnects constantly, takes me out of the game. And this time after kicking me off, it wouldn't get past the "Connecting to server" loading screen. I gave up. :(

Why do I need to be connected to the server to play the game at all to begin with? I haven't even played any of the online portions yet... I kind of suck right now. xD

I'm with ya! even though I have played endless battle, player and ranked matches with people, I'd rather see all the real people running around. I don't understand why when I go into single player lobby I still get kicked out a lot and sent back to the main menu? it'll even tell me sometimes that I have been disconnected from xbox live even though I'm sitting and talking to my friends :P I do look at it like this though...In my opinion the game has done much better than they expected it to do so maybe we'll actually start getting good Dragonball games from now on out with new stories?

I unlocked SSJ4 Gogeta and Super 17 last night actually. Do they have any relevance in this game's story at all? I'm just now making it into the Boo arc.

And just finished my training with Piccolo. Definitely wish there was an easier way to tell if you're moving things along with a mentor or not. Even doing missions with a lot of EXP and keeping an eye on the meter, it's still a long, slow grind.

Also, is there a list anywhere of all outfit items (including the ones you have to get from mission drops) anywhere? I feel like this'd be a lot easier to keep track of if I had a handy check list.

Well if you're playing on the xbox one version it shows a little progress bar on the achievement(s) so that's one way to tell how close you are. :P but an in game progress bar would have been cool too.

Oh no, I've seen that. I meant like an actual list of every outfit item available, so that I could check things off as I get them. :P

Like, for example, something like this.

Goku's Turtle Hermit Gi - Upper, Lower, Hands, Feet
Goku's Turtle Hermit Gi (King Kai) - Upper, Lower, Hands, Feet
GT Goku's Gi - Upper, Lower, Hands, Feet

That way I could mark off which pieces of outfits I have, and also know for sure when certain outfits might only have three of those categories to begin with or something.

I'm still working my way through the story, but when I get my other character slots unlocked I'd really like to make a Teen Goten. Since I don't believe there's a Kid Gohan wig, I'll have to settle for the Yamcha haircut...which is doable I suppose, if a bit fabulous for Goten. But what I'm worried about are outfit pieces. Is there any sort of t-shirt that can be unlocked? I'd have loved the Goten Son shirt but it would have been a bit much to expect :P pants, gloves and boots should be doable enough, but I'm not sure what sort of top I might be able to use to have a decently in-character Goten.

Nobody knows what's going wrong with my character's ki? Bummer.

Also, I finally grinding the Dragon Balls to get Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta, and... I'm underwhelmed. What makes this guy so good for Parallel Quests? He doesn't seem huge different from SS4 Vegeta, in fact I think I'll stick with SS4 Vegeta for these.

SSJ4 Gogeta is for those who don't have SSJ4 Vegeta :P

I completely forgot about Sergio's videos, and wouldn't you know it, it looks like he's got one detailing outfits that does include ones from drops. So with any luck I should be able to make myself a nice handy text-based list from that just like I did for the Parallel Quests and their requirements.

Can't for these kinds of mods to start appearing on the PC version. I's incredible how with just model swapping we can play with costumes that are already in-game but are just CaC exclusive, meanwhile the oficial characters get 2 costume slots with the same outfit.
