Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection 'F'"
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
You only need to play Dragon Quest (or any game he makes designs for) to see that Toriyama's mind is still filled with creativity and innovation. You may argue that he lost his touch when it comes to writing, but he's still as good as he was, if not better, when it comes to his drawing skill and designs.

I don't think Toriyama cares about money, he earns money from EVERYTHING related to DB. Games, card games, movies etc. Reading some of his interviews, seems that he's a simple guy. Not spending money on expensive things like cars and houses. I really think that he's making new movies just for the fans
English is not my main language. Sorry if I make a mistake.

I don't know this for sure, but I imagine they bought the rights from Toei or Shueisha, not Toriyama himself.Retan wrote:Fox couldn't do anything with DB until they paid him for the rights to the movie, then they could do whatever they wanted with the movie franchise, he knew this when he was paid.

All rights regarding the series go thorough Shueisha.Retan wrote:Fox couldn't do anything with DB until they paid him for the rights to the movie, then they could do whatever they wanted with the movie franchise, he knew this when he was paid.

I feel like everyone suggesting that AT is all out of excitement/originality/creativity are off their rockers.
He's been more active in the past 5 years than he has been in decades; producing fun material that quite honestly has reignited my passion for the source material. I was all over Jaco and BoG. They helped remind me why I loved the franchise in the first place and above all, I could see AT was having fun with the series for the first time since maybe pre-Z. Every plot turn since the Android Saga started felt like a man running out a steam and inventing things just to keep a straggling story still going. Present day AT is a man who has come out of the wood-work after years of silence about DB, excited about his own franchise and his own new ideas. It's an amazing time to be a fan of this 30+ yr old series.

Toriyama dislikes making public appearances, lives in a humble house, and wears a tracksuit whenever he does show up in public. I'm pretty sure that if he loved money it would be more obvious.

Fox bought the rights of Dragon Ball from Shueisha, not Toriyama. Shueisha are the legal owners of every commercialised, licensed product that has "Dragon Ball" on it. If you want to make any licensed, commercial Dragon Ball product, you have to go to them first. If you don't, they can sue you over copyright infringement.Retan wrote:Fox couldn't do anything with DB until they paid him for the rights to the movie, then they could do whatever they wanted with the movie franchise, he knew this when he was paid.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Fukkatsu no F"
Yeah they paid Shuiesha as well as Toriyama, it's called a contract.
True, and I'm glad he is, but if Toriyama was poor, and he was living on the streets, you don't think he'd jump at the chance to continue the DB manga? This'll be my last post on the subject, as were getting to far off course.

I wouldn't exactly call his house humble, he could easily afford something much bigger, but it still stands out really easily.Marco Polo wrote:Toriyama dislikes making public appearances, lives in a humble house, and wears a tracksuit whenever he does show up in public. Based on his BOG interviews I think he just wants his series to look good and I can't blame him after what happened with Evolution and Gt.GeeRod wrote:I really think that he's making new movies just for the fans

I don't understand what point you're making here, though. He's not poor or living off the streets, so it's irrelevant what he would do in that situation. Nobody's saying that the man is burning his en because "I don't need money." They're saying that him getting back into DB recently doesn't have as much to do with money as some think it does.Retan wrote: True, and I'm glad he is, but if Toriyama was poor, and he was living on the streets, you don't think he'd jump at the chance to continue the DB manga? He said that in one of the BOG interviews and the reason is bcause he doesn't have to do everything on his own which shows in the new stories.radrappy wrote:I could see AT was having fun with the series for the first time since maybe pre-Z.

If that was the case then (And I'm throwing GT under the bus for this. Which hurts cause I like it.) He would have stuck around for GT. They offered him money to stay, he didn't take it but gave approval to let it be made. Contrary to popular belief some artists due have pride in their art and that can outweigh money.Retan wrote:Was just trying to say even Toriyama has a price. I love how you go from "he so greedy he gave away DB cuz he want that sweet money lolol" to "well errr guyz let's imagine if Toriyama were a bum living in the streets wouldn't he like a bit of money, right? right?"Retan wrote:True, and I'm glad he is, but if Toriyama was poor, and he was living on the streets, you don't think he'd jump at the chance to continue the DB manga? And what people are trying to tell you is that Toriyama HAD NO SAY in the movie rights being sold from Shueisha to Fox. Shueisha are the only ones who can make that decision. Toriyama could have agreed or could have disagreed, that would have made absolutely no change as it is Shueisha who decides.Retan wrote:Was just trying to say even Toriyama has a price. That's all.

1. What the hell are you talking about? 2. Well then that's just japans way of doing things I guess, and therefore I was wrong, but I could have sworn Toriyama agreed to it, and got a big lump of cash from fox too.

1. What's yours? What bum living in the streets would not accept money?Retan wrote:1. What the hell are you talking about? I mean what's your point?

2. No, it works like that in many fields in many countries too. For example in the music industry the record company can often do whatever they want with their artists' songs.

I'm the one saying Toriyama has a price as most people do, pay attention. Even though he's rich he still has a price it just goes up.

I'm asking who on Earth would not accept money if they were "poor" and "living on the streets"? Seriously?

I said that once, and I said "Everybody's got a price" several times.
