if only he realizes his precious Dragon Ball GT is also a cash-in... Anyway.

Jaco is Toriyama's "number-one favorite story and protagonist out of anything (he's) done in the past", so I doubt marketing is the primary reason for his appearance.

Dunno if this has been posted already; it's (I think) an F promo page that leads to all the games that have tie-ins with it. https://present-f.bngames.net/
Vegeta and Whis look alright; but Gokû's eyes and eyebrows are drawn way too big in proportion to his face, and Beerus looks kinda off.

There's most likely a grander scheme as to why Goku and Vegeta aren't going SSJ in the movie.

Honestly as awesome as the Super Saiyan transformations are it is still nice to see these two in base form like the old days. I am totally fine this.

Regardless of whether he makes any immediate impact on the series or is "relevant" to it, he's an official character in the Universe now. And if he's a character that Toriyama is actually proud of and wants to include, I don't believe there needs to be any other reason than that to include him in. And I really doubt he'd end up taking time from other characters. It's not like they're including Jaco in lieu of Lunch or something. Just because he was created within the past couple of years doesn't mean he's a bad character and can't fit into the universe, IMO.

I asked this previously but don't think I've got an answer, but have you read Jaco? If you have, then cool. But if not I really suggest it. It's nice little story.

Still a baseless speculation, but do you think Vegeta would accept the Hakaishin's job after Beerus passes away? I mean if he kill Freeza in this movie it is possible that Whis might offer him such acknowledgement.

I can't see Vegeta as the next God of Destruction, but who knows?

If he were to be offered the job somehow, the old Vegeta would surely accept, but he's a changed man now. The power would be tempting, but he wouldn't choose that over his family and friends. Character development!

Good, Super Saiyan has been done to death.

Besides Goku absorbed Super Saiyan God into his body so his base form is actually stronger than his SSJ3 form.

I second this. I've just always preferred their base forms over Super.

I agree and disagree with both of you. Let me share with you a minor anecdote. After having been a fan of the Tenchi Muyo! OVAs for years, I finally sat down and watched the third OVA. I had long since wanted to see the story continued, and the loose plot threads connected. Instead, what I got was a bunch of cameos by a bunch of characters I'd never heard of before, who seemed to do nothing but show up to say that they existed. It was very frustrating. I later learned they were characters from Tenchi Muyo! GXP, a spinoff I'd never watched. But it frustrated me even more. I came in expecting to see a sequel to Tenchi Muyo!, not this stuff. Maybe fans of GXP would appreciate that, but since, as far as I watched, they never contributed anything to the plot, it couldn't be appreciated on anything deeper than the level of fanservice.

Now in this case I'm on the opposite side. I've read and own Jaco, and I really like him as a character. So when I first saw that he was going to be in this new movie, I was excited... on a fanservice level. Once I calmed down, though, I realized that there does have to be more to it than that. Yes. A character does need to be "relevant" to justify being in a story. Toriyama doesn't have any business putting him in unless he needs to be there. Otherwise, he's just going to be a waste of time in a franchise that is already bloated with characters craving screen time, and he's going to piss off people who have no idea who he is.

So, in short, if Jaco's written in well for this, because the story needs him, because he brings something to the table, then I am all for Jaco being in this movie, and I will probably find him one of the best things in it. If he's only in this story because he's fresh and new and Toriyama likes him, then I'm going to be annoyed. But the fact of the matter is, we don't know right now why he's here, so it's impossible to judge.

And thus Ultimate/Mystic Goku, was born. :P

But I would really love to see the aesthetics of the Super Saiyan God appear again the FnF. I loved the design of the transformation.

I don't see that happening because we already know how Z ends, and Bejita doesn't look like a God, to me. The God Powers will probably be a temporary thing.
Hey who knows if we must believe Beerus there are still many foes to fight before DBZ ends, anything can happen. I'm very curious about what is going to happen to DBZ after this movie.
