It helps because now he understands why you feel that way about Pepsi. That is all there is to it.

This asinine conversation has stemmed from someone wanting to understand a viewpoint. That. is. it.

I cannot even put into words at how baffled I am that this isn't abundantly clear from the numerous posts that have been made on this subject already.

I am doing my very best to remain calm with you, but at this point, I am seriously struggling to work out how to make this any clearer.
What he found out was, in short, that Pepsi feels better to me than Coke. That was something that was already implied by my preference. So, in terms of knowledge, he didn't really gain much. And in terms of understanding, since he disagrees, he doesn't really understand how it tastes better to me, how its sweeter to me, he just knows it feels better to me, but, as stated, that was already implied by my preference. So, its kind of circular or redundant, which was my point.

As for the conversation, well, I just didn't see any point in just questioning his (unpopular) opinion, nor did I see what was expected from his answer, other than a reaffirmation that he prefers certain aspects of Linda to the other voices that Freeza had, which is something already implied in his original answer. And I explained why. You are free to disagree. Maybe my intervention was a waste a time and wasn't really needed, but I felt it was relevant to question what was really expected from his answer and why his opinion was the one being put into question. Anyway, at least I didn't call you/imply you were "asinine", just so you know...

Ajay is right. I'm not trying to sway anyone. If you told me you liked Pepsi because you prefer sweeter sodas, that would be enough because it was a reason.
he doesn't really understand how it tastes better to me, how its sweeter to me
Actually, Pepsi is objectively sweeter. Tests have been done on the subject and Pepsi is in fact sweeter than Coke, however that's measured. It's the reason Pepsi does better in taste tests, but Coke still outsells Pepsi. In small doses, more people enjoy sweeter drinks, but not when drinking larger volumes.

In any case, Rereboy, you are making more out of this than I intended. Even if the guy said he couldn't articulate his view well, he just preferred it, that would've sufficed because at least it would've been something. Why do I want to know? I'm inquisitive, and that's all the reason I need to ask an earnest, albeit trivial question.

I atually don't like Chris Ayres. Something about his voice just irritates me. I was ecited when I heard that there would be a guy playing Frieza, but his voice just sounds really annoying to me so I would have preferred someone else. My favorite english Frieza right now is the ocean dub one, and it's not because of nostalgia because I didn't hear the ocean dub until after I watched Kai.

Chris Ayres by far. He encapsulates Frieza perfectly and is the definite English voice for him.

Ironically I prefer Pepsi to Coke because Coke tastes far too sweet to me. Drinking a bottle of Coke tastes, to me, like guzzling carbonated maple syrup; it's quite putrid. Pepsi tastes nowhere near as sweet to my tongue.
I understand tests and differences in sugar content and whatnot, and logically Pepsi should be the sweeter of the two, but that's absolutely not how it tastes for me.

EDIT: In the interest of the topic and explaining our positions; Chris Ayres, particularly when compared with Linda Young and Pauline Newstone, I find does a much better job capturing a faithfully translated version of the character. The fast-talking articulate nature of his dialogue is well-complimented by Ayres' voice. Beyond that, Ayres' performance is, in my opinion/experience, genuinely creepy.

To me, that reason is not really different than saying "I prefer it because it tastes better to me". Which was already implied by preferring that drink. Like I said, I see no significant gains in knowledge or understanding with that, but ok, my intervention was just to put this into question, not to offend or change anyone.

I also never implied or meant to imply that its only relevant when someone can change their opinion. Just that I didn't see gains in it.

Me, I like Fanta. :lolno:

For the english dub, for Freezer, I like the Ocean Dub (weird & funny dialog/text, but the best cast ever for a Dragon Ball Z English Dub) & the Kai Dub (the perfect dub for you, american, finally(!!!). Perfect and the best dub in any way (cast, dialog, OST, cut, opening, etc...).

For a forgein dub, i really like the French Dub for Freezer. http://youtu.be/fuYJyMzcPng?t=52s
The sadic nasal voice, like a Joker or a psychopath clown, is very cool.

I agree. Sadly DBZ had often very bad scripts for the french version, even though it had many good actors. For some reason they made Freeza's voice chance slightly in DBZ Kai, though...

Ayers. He doesn't sound like a woman. He sounds aristocratic, like his Japanese counterpart.

Chris Ayers, though I think Linda Young's work in the video games and '07 redubs is perfectly fine. The only problem I'd have is that it's more of a goofy caricature, while Ayers is a lot more interesting and serves as a good compliment for the character.

To me, that reason is not really different than saying "I prefer it because it tastes better to me".
Then I don't know what to say to you because someone saying they prefer something sweeter is more constructive and interesting than just saying "I prefer it." It gives a why that satisfies my question.

Ayres's feels more like a royal, intimidating yet elegant, emperor to me. Linda Young's voice felt forced in the series, in the games it was a lot better but I'm still an Ayres guy.

Looks like Ayers wins, hands-down!

Btw, what really happened with Linda Chambers and Sabat?

I remember years ago someone on this board claimed that she cried and was devastated that the role of Freeza was taken from her, now I'm reading in this new thread that she was all buddy-buddy with the idea of a new Freeza.

Does anyone have any concrete evidence to backup either story?

^ :? Yeah, I was wondering about this, too. I'm guessing it couldn't have been anything TOO bad since she still has other roles in Kai, namely Baba and Piiza. But I've seen this mentioned several times and nobody's been able to back it up with hard facts or evidence.

I think the reasoning behind her being replaced, that she couldn't keep with the Kai script is also a bit iffy, judging by her perfmance on Shiki as Ikumi Itou I am positive she could have kept up with the Kai scripts, infact I didn't even realize it was Young until I saw the credits and my first thought was I guess they just didn't fancy her for Kai then.

Ayres...I know that's a predictable answer, but he really does nail it...I'm not even one of those newer =/= better people, but this is one case where it really is.

That makes sense.

They're just going withe a polite-sounding excuse.

I actually got used to Linda's old voice a while ago, it does have kind of a creepy, weird, evil vibe to it that does kinda work.
