The direction that they wanted to go brought Freeza's performance and dialogue much closer to the original. Young was having a hard time keeping the pace and attitude they were going for. Ultimately, they decided that she was not suited for the part. The director, with over 15 years experience, made that decision. It wasn't them being "dicks". They did what they felt was best to make sure the material was appropriately deliver.

Please do remember that you are in the minority of people who prefer Linda Young over Christopher Ayres. You're not wrong for preferring her, but it was the right decision for the product.

Didn't their BoG announcement come with a teaser trailer? Strange they did nothing with this.

I mean, you're pretty open about looking at cartoon porn. Why would you do that? It's fiction. The proportions of these women are not possible to reach in reality.

They probably haven't even started dubbing it yet. Something tells me that they just got the rights and were excited to announce it as soon as possible.

More like they wanted to get it out there ASAP so people would stop badgering them about it.

I actually like Young's voice for Freeza. It'd be interesting to see her under the current direction/script if she returns.

I share the same sentiment here, though more fans will be happy if Ayres returns here.

It's again more or less the same reason I'm not fond of the way they gave Vollmer, Nadolny, Jackson, and Antonelli (and some others I might be forgetting?) the boot. I understand that business is business, and let's be honest - as much a part of 'let's get better/more fitting actors and actresses for the roles' was a part of the re-casting, 'let's get people that are in other things and more likely to be hanging around when we need them' is probably an even bigger part of it - but c'mon. They had been playing the roles for over a decade by that point. They had officially dubbed everything of the franchise up to that point. I think they deserved a little notification that they were being let go at least, rather than having to find out from fans once it was announced. That's just awful.
Actually, Antonelli quit herself before Kai started. Brina had voiced the characters in the last few games before Kai was announced.
Cold Skin wrote:"F" had to be kept anyway since it's a reference to a song actually named "F", which is even featured in the movie.

But I thought there would be a double "F" title like in Japanese, where you repeat the letter "F" in "Fukatsu no F".
So I thought the title would be an "F" word to go along with Freezer, like "Freezer Forever", "Forever Freezer", "Forthcoming F", "Formidable F", "Fortified F", "Foolproof F", etc...

I wonder if other countries are going to inherit the English title ("Battle of Gods" was given in the Japanese title itself and used as-is all around the world, but "Resurrection F" was apparently made up by Funimation specifically for the US release, so will other countries use it or will they come up with their own title based on the original Japanese?)
TOEI themselves included the title "Resurrection F" in their latest financial report.
Also known as "GeniDude" and "NerdyNorwegian"!

So "Resurrection F" is literally the official title now? Yay, FUNi went with the exact same translation I preferred to use!
To me it only made sense. First time I saw the title, I just thought "Oh, "Fukkatsu no F", as in, the letter F is the first letter in Fukkatsu but is also an obvious reference to Freeza. Yay double meanings!" and so this whole mindset that "The F in Fukkatsu" was objectively wrong whereas "Revival of F" was the objectively best translation, didn't quite add up in my opinion. So to me, just leaving out the "of" alltogether seemed to be the best way to keep that double-meaning in there.
...Though it doesn't quite work as well in English, with the alitteration being kinda untranslatable and all.

That said, so it's getting a subtitled screening in the US at the same time as the Japanese release? Followed by a dubbed release in just a few months? Well... Clearly as soon as the 11th hits I'm going to have to avoid this forum and any other Dragon Ball related discussions like the plague.

I think they didn't want her back. With Kai, they wanted a more faithful version of the show. Fans for years hated Freeza's dub voice, so it was about time we got a more proper faithful voice.

She voices Freeza in the very first scene of Kai with Bardock trying to kill him, her laugh is unmistakable there. So yeah, they were going to try and use her voice with the more faithful script but as others here said, she couldn't talk at the pace they needed of her.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

Not to bring it up again, but on the 'not able to keep up with the script' thing, don't forget that while DBZ was recorded ages ago, Kai is still a fairly recent dub. It's entirely possible that Linda Young really couldn't do the lines fast enough anymore. She still does work, but nothing as major as Freeza is for DBZ, so...well, yeah. She might just not have it in her anymore, sad as it is.

Though come to think of it, the YYH OVA's were done after Kai I think, and what little Genkai she had to do was still on par.

She did? Come to think of it, Brina had already kind of taken over the roles prior to Kai, I'd forgotten about that. Huh.

I can't believe all these people wanting Linda Young to return. I wonder what they were thinking in 1999 when she first appeared as an awful, cheap imitation of Pauline Newstone.

I'm pretty sure they were thinking that they wanted a cheap imitation of Pauline Newstone.

Cold Skin. The original Japanese title for Battle of Gods was Kami To Kami (God and God). Funimation certainly didnt make up a new title themselves. Toei used "Resurrection F" even before the Funim announceent.

It may seem weird but I didn't know about the announcement until literally now. I have to say that I'm really pleased with the title choice.

I can't say it enough - this really is fantastic news. I enjoy the Japanese voices, but I've never been able to adapt to subbed anime, hearing it in a language I can't understand cuts the enjoyment in half for me. I always said that if I could, I would wait for a dub of RoF so that I could enjoy it at maximum, but I was just kidding myself. I never thought we would actually get it early enough that I really could wait.

We were thinking how amazing she was and still can be.

Or maybe, just maybe, they realised that in effort to make Freeza actually sound more in tune with his true characterisation in the manga they chose a voice actor that could actually, you know, voice Freeza appropriately.

I'd be okay with either Chris Ayers or Linda Young as the voice of Freeza. I know that everyone hates Linda Young, but she wasn't that terrible. The "giddy up," etc. wasn't really her fault. It was the scripting. And at that time, who DIDN'T sound bad? I feel that Young's performance later on in Z and GT (the few bits that Freeza was a part of) weren't too terrible. During "Season 3" of Dragon Ball Z, Chris Sabat's, Sean Schemmel's, Sonny Strait's, and...heck, everyone's performance was terrible! I feel that it's a whole different ball game now and Young would be fine. With that being said, Ayers being signed on? Okay, good.
