Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection 'F'"

It seems this film is really cutting corners to be as badass as possible. Out with Goten and Trunks being silly, in with Tenshinhan and Master Roshi kicking ass. Coupled with the darker trailer, I'm actually kind of worried about the humor in this film. IIRC the script was originally described as "terribly funny" or something like that, but that doesn't seem to be the current tone. Anyone else share my worries?

The "utterly funny" thing was some weird thing that ANN added for seemingly no reason.

No point in bothering to check it out. Goten has girls to hit on to catch up with Trunks, who is perhaps more interested in Mai than friends casually training.

I'm pretty sure Vegeta actually criticized Goten and Trunks during Yo! for not reading Abo and Kado's ki during battle, which made them sloppy. So it makes sense that they wouldn't feel the battle.

It's a movie about Freeza so I don't see how it could be funny but that doesn't mean all movies will be this way.

It kinda makes sense to leave Goten and Trunks out of the battle. Even though they would be an incredible asset in the fight, they would be instantly targeted by Freeza. Bulma knows this and is also aware of the utter chaos Gotenks (because lbr here, they will use fusion) can cause.

However, they can feel powerlevels, so how can they keep it hidden from them?

But why are people up in arms about Bulma 'fighting'? You know she cannot do much, perhaps she is only there to recognize Jaco. Or maybe she has some fancy robots. I am actually looking forward to her role more than I can say about Trunks and Goten making an appearance.

Goten and Trunks are rivals. It might have taken Goten one DAY after Battle of Gods to be interested in chasing girls to catch up with his best friend, which seemingly turned into a thing judging by the epilogue.

Tien never fought Buutenks. Tien deflected a blast from him that was going to kill Gohan and then got knocked by him when Tien had his back turned. The end

And what wrong with non-Saiyans putting up a fight? Hasn't been one of the main complaints about franchise is the non-Saiyan, non-Nameks and non-Androids basically contribute nothing in terms of battles in the later parts of the series. And now that it's happening, people are throwing a bitch-fit about it. This fanbase does not know what it wants anymore.

Freeza may had a godly ki now which can't be sensed a la Beerus on Kaio's planet in BOG
Freeza's minions may have such low ki it doesn't register
Freeza and his henchmen may now be able to suppress their battle power or have knew technology that masks it
Gotten and Trunks may be off on another planet


The possibilities are endless

They could still sense that but their friends ki going up and down isn't anything new since they all train pretty regular to varying degrees. Moreover, if Trunks and Goten aren't looking for something to be amiss they'd be less intune to it..and heck they could be so far away the that the thing is over by the time they get there. Point is we don't know yet. I think you're just looking for a problem rather than waiting to see what comes.

No, I'm not. I've been literally defending this movie from hate, even though I find it disappointing, because we don't know everything yet, but I also have the right to call these stupid excuses and wasted opportunities, and that they are.

Yeah, Bulma would only need something about as powerful as 16 to be on Piccolo's level. Surely if Gero can do it, she can too.

Bulma was confirmed to be "participating" in the festivities. Nobody can pretend they know what that means. It doesn't automatically mean she's fighting.

This is all boiling down to "But this is so contrived! I want "X" character!"

Of course it's contrived. They're all contrived. Where are Tenshinhan, Yamcha, and Chaozu in nearly every DBZ movie? Where are Vegeta and Piccolo in movie ten? Why is Kuririn the only one who comes to aid Goten and Trunks in the fight against Bio-Broli? Why do characters keep popping up and vanishing in movie thirteen?

No reason was ever given for any of it.

The JUMP Special and the 2013 movie spoiled everybody. Now we expect to see every character and, if we don't, we demand an explanation. Ignoring the fact that things were never like this before 2008. I would like to see certain characters as well, but it's not fair to jump on Toriyama for doing exactly what Koyama did in every other movie. At least Toriyama is acknowledging the characters he's excluding.
