Many complaints are probably because the explanation for their absence doesn't seem to make sense. Its also too soon to assume the sons of Goku and Vegeta won't even make an appearance in the film, do you honestly expect Toei to show off everything in the film?
I guess to meet these obnoxious standards some people hold, they might as well hold a conference showing off everything in the film since everybody is so judgmental on a film that hasn't even been released.
As for complaining about them not being in the movie, regardless of the explanation, its a legitimate complaint. In-universe, Gotenks is a very relevant fighter, especially when compared to Roshi, and, out of universe, lots of people like Goten, Trunks and Gotenks, so its perfectly understandable to not like the fact that they don't appear.

Wow, let's not bring people who'd be worth a million Tenshinhan's, Roshi's, Krillin's, and Bulma's. The earth is in grave danger and since apparently the mooks are a big threat for some reason, let's just make things harder by not bringing power houses because why not? I'm going to enjoy this movie most likely, but that doesn't mean the details aren't fucking stupid. It was never stated they wouldn't be in the movie, fans just jump the gun and assume the worst case scenario. Which is pretty true since thats all what people think. Personally, I know Trunks can sense Ki and I'm thinking they will find a way to the war one way or another. While the sky is dark and we don't see Tien, Piccolo, and Roshi while Freeza is fighting Goku, there is probably still tons of Freeza soldiers left. I bet Gotenks will come. It just isnt in their Saiyan nature to sit out a battle. Unless, they are knocked out cold by Piccolo for their own good, Lol.

It's possible that only part of the movie will dodge Boo, Goten and Trunks, to echo the battle on Namek.
Like first half: only the ones that were already in the story at the time of the Freezer battle are involved. Second half: remaining warriors join in to balance forces (even Gohan has been seemingly defeated, mind you).
Other than than, I'm confused by the translation of the title that is usually "Revival of F": wouldn't it be "F no Fukkatsu" if it was meant to be like that?
If it's Fukkatsu no F, isn't that supposed to be "the 'F' of Fukkatsu", meaning "(the letter) "F" from (the word) "Fukkatsu", meaning the title would actually mean "F" as in "Fukkatsu" / "F" for "Fukkatsu"?
