One line. One. Line. They didn't waste /any/ time.

They wasted a few seconds with it. And scenes showing them fighting soldiers would also just take a few seconds if they wanted it to. Adding them to the background of characters wouldn't even add to the run time.

So... Where's the significant increase in run time that would happen with their inclusion?

And sure, their role in the movie would be very minor in these conditions, but it beats having lame excuses for their absence, imo. If you must have them missing, at least figure out some satisfactory excuse.

If they're in the background, then they're not really "included". Not the way the fans want them to be. And no, having them in the background would be a bigger slap in the face to the people who want them in the movie at all. They want to see them fight. They want them to interact with Freeza. None of which will happen if they're in the background.

Guys, it's hard to write a script that involves stand-out moments for 15+ characters. Do you really want every new movie/work to be a reunion setting?

I think people are angry over who's included and who's excluded--not over not having EVERY character in the movie.

How do you exclude Trunks in a movie that mentions Future Trunks? How do you exclude Mr. Buu in a movie that mentions Majin Buu? Yet you include Tien and Roshi in the battlefield? It's beyond stupid. Because Trunks isn't Future Trunks? And just because someone gets mentioned doesn't mean they have to show up.

I said before that it was nice to see all the characters in BoG but the next movie should have a smaller cast of characters who would actually get to do something and that's exactly what they've done.

I'd have liked to see Buu instead of Roshi who seems incredibly out of place but I'm glad Tien got a spot.

In none way trying to be rude, but... If he wants to bring Cell in "Ressurrection C", then people have to like it? Or people aren't allowed to demonstrate their frustration of seeing the same thing over and over?

Funny how they even try to suggest Goku is the overconfident one between the two when everyone knows that describes Vegeta more. Guess they didn't want to make Vegeta's flaws stand out so much more. Besides if Vegeta wanted to be closer to Goku, he should have continued his training of push ups, sit ups, and plenty of juice.

Goten and Trunks got their own subplot with Pilaf and co. in Battle of Gods, which got so much mixed feedback as a majority thinks it was one of the weakest aspects of the movie. I would've loved to see Gotenks whoop Freeza soldier ass in this fil,, but let's be honest, we're not missing much.

So, I just checked out the new manga. I liked Goku and Vegeta training. Seemed fun. And Beerus is pretty funny. However, Freeza arrives at Earth in his first form and stands in front of Piccolo and Gohan in his first form, so... he continues to look not very smart....

He can choose whatever characters he likes to use... But having a satisfactory excuse for why the others aren't there is basic good writing.
