Funny how they even try to suggest Goku is the overconfident one between the two when everyone knows that describes Vegeta more. Guess they didn't want to make Vegeta's flaws stand out so much more. Besides if Vegeta wanted to be closer to Goku, he should have continued his training of push ups, sit ups, and plenty of juice.

I guess that's a theme that started in Battle of Gods. When Goku first challenges Beerus and becomes a Super Saiyan 3, he is overconfident to the point of arrogance, whereas Vegeta has no want or desire to test himself against Beerus, as he knows himself to be hopelessly outmatched. In terms of a role reversal, it makes a pretty interesting comparison to Goku and Vegeta's attitude towards Cell, for example.

there's no point fretting over how Goten and Trunks should be included because it's logical since they're strong. Freeza and his goons are gonna be taken care of with or without their inclusion and sure they would have helped a lot, but I think it will be refreshing to see the veterans back in the game and who knows, the duo may even end up appearing anyway.

Um..there's no point? Okay. I guess it's no point that Gohan doesn't have ultimate no more. End of the day he's not an important character. It doesn't matter if Freeza going be taken care of regardless. Thats obvious. But two characters like Goten and Trunks who can do more for this movie(plot wise) than Ten and Roshi to be missing is utter bullshit.
Next movie let's not have Vegeta in it. The bad guy will be beaten regardless. So no point in fussing about it .

I haven't been negative until Gotenks and Boo not appearing. So this isn't a Toriyama suck post. But Toriyama using characters HE wants to use...isn't always the best work. Remember Bardock, Pure Boo, and Chaozu?

Pilaf as far as we know is returning because he's a plot device for how Sorbet and Tagoma get the Dragon Balls and revive Freeza.

Something that didn't seem lame and that didn't have problems (like somehow not being able to sense Ki or thinking that Roshi is more useful than Gotenks).

If you are asking me what that excuse should be, I'm not a professional writer, comic artist or mangaka. I'm just a fan, all I can judge is if what they come up with satisfies me or not, it's not my job to do their job.

Bulma doesn't want Trunks involved because he's reckless. Gohan felt the same about Goten. Both boys being foolhardy as they are are likely to remember Freeza only from stories, assume he's about the same level of power, and foolishly try to take him on. One would guess Freeza being in his lowest form upon arrival indicates his true power would indeed be hidden. They could easily get cocky and try something only to wind up a corpse. Safer to leave them where they are, for now at least.

And Buu falling into a deep sleep is... well, Buu logic, tbh. Seems fitting.

Both reasons are perfectly fine, imo. There's nothing lazy about it and it's quite fitting. Just as fitting as Yamcha electing to stay with Chiaotzu on the farm as he feels he may not be of much help. You may not LIKE it, but it's not out of place.

Base Goku is strong enough to go toe to toe with Beerus. Base Vegeta is weaker than Frieza in the Namek saga. How is even able to see these guys move?
