However, I've met pretty much no one in real life who loves the Japanese version as much as I do. I like both the dub and the Japanese verison as I kind of watched them simultaneously as I got into the series. I watched what was dubbed and then bought a bunch of fan subs to jump ahead in the series. So in a way, I've been exposed to both at the same time so I prefer neither over the other as they're both special to me.

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

I just got into the franchise a couple years ago after seeing that it had a high IMdB rating, so I was shocked that even the community was so huge online! Then again, I never paid attention to any fandom until I experienced Dragon Ball!

yeah you absolut right i dont belong here, i am not an activ user ..check my statistics lol..the new movie brought me back. in my opinion u shouldnt get to nerdy about DB ..i find it sad. dont get to sensitiv about my statement..it's all good.VegettoEX wrote:So... why are you here, exactly?tx3 wrote:i am wrong here, anything which become an obsession is taking away the fun of a beloved thing ..step by step ..i wish i never meet a guy who is as u call it a "super nerd" it's just to much for my taste. I can understand why people love dragonball ..it's the best thing that came out of Japan, i like talking about it on the surface ..things like why the story of Broly is BS or why BoG was just a 6/10 or why Vegeta is the best Character ..something like that .also i would never call somebody pathetic thats to much. i find it only sad.MagicBox wrote:I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't feel insulted by someone entering a thread just to call them (and their discussion) pathetic.
Anyway, there's one guy at my work who went to see "Battle Of Gods," and we had a little chat about the whole "seven universes" thing, but that's about as far as his interest went. The only real-life person I know of who actually talks about all this super-duper nerdy Dragon Ball stuff is my fiancée, who often finds herself trapped in an anime discussion against her will.
You're not above anyone else. Writing these kinds of responses, quite frankly, only reinforces the exact opposite. You're clearly threatened and embarrassed, yourself.
Don't come to a forum about a kid's cartoon from 30 years ago, talk about said series, and then go on to pretend you have something over someone else. You don't, and you're not fooling anyone.

Naturally my experiences mirror the thread, and that's okay, I just enjoy the series on whatever level my friends do. I have one friend who was freaking out about Revival of F a couple weeks ago, and the exchange was just a simple "Did you see the trailer, though?" "Yes, it's like I'm a kid again! Toriyama, stop it!" "I know, right!" We know too much about Dragon Ball here, VegettoEX has agreed as much on the podcast, but it really should not color how you interact with other fans whose span of interest is simply smaller than yours. The older Toriyama interviews, what the Dragon Boxes are, the animation styles guide? A service to any type of fan. The name puns on the movie characters, Japanese guidebook-exclusive content, Jump publishing dates? Novelties, no harm in having them but not much is lost in lacking them, either.
Is he, though? Or is he just saying "when you dig too deep, your down a hole?" Which this thread is kind of acknowledging in a humorous, unoffensive way.VegettoEX wrote:So... why are you here, exactly?tx3 wrote:i am wrong here, anything which become an obsession is taking away the fun of a beloved thing ..step by step ..i wish i never meet a guy who is as u call it a "super nerd" it's just to much for my taste. At the risk of digging this "hole" deeper...
But...it being "sad"? This is all a part of being a fan of something; discussing it with other people, anticipating new information/products, and sharing your love of it with fellow fans. It's no different from the guys who go out and paint themselves for their favorite sports team, or the guy who can list off every type of Bugatti. Everyone has at least one, big thing that they "geek out" over. For a lot of people here, that thing happens to be Dragon Ball.
IMO you belong here because you like Dragon Ball, like the rest of us. Not everyone here is a "hardcore" fan. A lot of users only drop by when big news comes along.tx3 wrote:yeah you absolut right i dont belong here, i am not an activ user ..check my statistics lol..the new movie brought me back. in my opinion u shouldnt get to nerdy about DB ..i find it sad. dont get to sensitiv about my statement..it's all good.VegettoEX wrote:
