I hope something like that happens, but instead Beerus is the one who fights. We have Beerus stand tall over the barely moving Goku and Vegeta, and we have Beerus vs Freeza be the climax. Beerus references in Battle of Gods he wanted to kill Freeza, and they fight a short battle. Freeza manages to do actually pretty well, but it's clear he can't win. It shows Goku and Vegeta weren't ready for this, and it shames them. They feel embarrassed and pride hurt that they needed to be saved. Vegeta could make a joke that that's how Kakarot has always made him feel.

I'm actually in the camp of people hoping that Goku gets beat down, then Vegeta talks big only to get roflstomped and in the end it's Jaco who saves the day!

I actually made a joke it's Jaco's destruction bomb thing that kills Freeza in the end possibly. He never did get to use it...or did he?

Got to look over the chapter. Looks to be a ton of fun. I'm glad a good chunk of this will be in the movie. That bit from the trailer where we see Beerus firing a blast and a explosion near Goku, Vegeta, and Whis are in this. Hopefully more makes it in.

If Freeza even dies again, I don't think he needs to go out with anything this time. I love his character, but he's repeatedly shown to be a fool and he continues that trend by coming back to Earth in the first place. It's true that he's returning to life and surpassing all but the highest gods (maybe even them, we don't really know yet) in an insanely short amount of time, and may even defeat both Goku and Vegeta. Regardless of if he gets his revenge or not at some point in the film though, he's not going to "win" at the end of the day. He'll eventually be defeated, banished or something...which he could have completely avoided if he just followed Tagoma's advice and ignored the Saiyans upon his revival.

As one of the series' biggest fools, if he does go out with honor, that's fine, but it's by no means a requirement.

Whis' reverse time ability would have been interesting for one of the villains in these movies. It'd make them almost unbeatable, what good would it be charging up a Spirit Bomb or Kamehameha if he could simply go back to before it was formed rendering them useless.

It's like a superior version of Guldo's time freeze ability but combined with someone enormously powerful.

In none of these screens Vegeta is a Super Saiyan. I really hope they don't make him a Super Saiyan God off-screen, even though it would make sense. I want to actually see the transformation.

Yep, but this would suck harder since we wouldn't actually see the transformation, assuming he would absorb the power the same way Goku did.

That would suck even more... It has been stated only the "prodigy" could do that, isn't? Well, the "Original Super Saiyan God" died because "he wasn't a prodigy", Kakarot absorbed because he is the protagonist is a prodigy... Now Vegeta is prodigy too?

I don't think Vegeta will absorb it like Goku since well it's Vegeta, I think Whis requested them not to fight in SS and by any means if Vegeta does become SSG then I think it will be on screen.

While I agree, it may be the only way to keep up with him, I would rather prefer another way, because like I said, Vegeta being a prodigy like everyone else kind of sounds stupid... Not to mention Freeza saying he is a prodigy...

The way Whis has been portrayed until now I don't think he is going to be a bad guy. At most morally ambiguous. It would be an interesting twist if he turns out to be a bad guy and something really new to the Dragon Ball franchise.

Well I think he is definitely NOT a bad guy. No reason to mask his real personality in Battle of Gods. However, I do think that like Beerus is not a bad guy, per se, but just doing his job as God of Destruction, the same way Whis can maybe do some morally ambiguous stuff.

But Whis turning out to be a straight up bad guy, I don't think that can happen, given the history of Dragon Ball characters.
