Wait, am I missing something here? They earned x64 the budget and it was still a disappointment? I know that the production budget doesn't accurately reflect the true costs (there is also the advertising budget and the profit the theater takes; usually, the total is twice the listed budget). But their goal being 80 times the budget just seems way too optimistic. They already got a net gain of tens of millions of dollars for basically nothing... unless they just spent way more on advertising than should be possible for this kind of project.SpiritBombTriumphant wrote:What negativity? Methinks "Lord Beerus" dislikes the movie that isn't out yet and thinks that his opinion is the popular one. But that's just a guess, I don't know/care. As for me and viewing it? I will go see it in the theater two or three times then buy it when it comes out on blu-ray.Lord Beerus wrote:Given the current negativity around the movie
Remember everyone - the more money they make, the more Dragon Ball Z we get. After the U.S. release Battle of Gods made around $32,000,000 which was their goal for Japanese theater viewings only. But since they had a budget of $500,000 that was a colossal success. If this movie doesn't make their target ($40,000,000) then we may not get another one in 2017 =/

Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

Not gonna lie: if it's not in theaters in my area, then I'm pirating that sucker. Then I'll ask for the DVD as a Christmas present. It's looking more and more like the Canadian premiere will be at the Fantasia Film Festival in late July/early August as a double bill with BoG, though.

I'm not gonna watch it in theaters or most likely at all, unless reviews from other people change my mind.
Re: Resurrection F poll
Yes I will.
I don't like the FUNI cast and much prefer the Japanese track with English subtitles but don't want to wait the extra 4 months or whatever it is for a good sub to come online

Re: Resurrection F poll
I will, assuming it airs here again. I have a friend who is still looking forward to this and I don't get to hang out with her very often, so I'll go with her to this. I've already told her I'm not at all looking forward to it though, and we both agreed BoG was a mixed bag.
For BoG, I went in with really low expectations and enjoyed Beerus' character and the gags, so I don't regret seeing it. Even if I hadn't seen it, I still knew almost all of the crappy details I didn't like beforehand due to summaries and stuff. So even though I haven't seen anything in Resurrection F that appeals to me, I probably won't actually lose out watching it.
Then again, I've been saying my expectations couldn't be lower for a while now, and the new info just keeps finding new depths to them.

I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Re: Resurrection F poll
I do plan to see it in theatres, but with caution. I don't like what I'm seeing so far(those angels, Pee-laf, and Frieza's "evolution" knockoff form).

I would like to see it but just like dbgtFO said, I don't think it'll released in my country too (Poland).

I'll see it in one shape or form, I think BoG was a good refresher for the franchise, the story was good as was the writing, and believe we'll see just as much character development in the next movie as opposed to the majority of past dbz movies that ran with giving goku energy at the last minute routine.

I'm going to see it. I didn't know there was a lot of negativity. I only saw the trailer and that looked awesome. I don't know anything about the manga preview that people are dissappointed by, though.
