I think the main problem is censorship in Japan.. Biggest example would have to be in Kai.. Is there any good reason for this?

Image

The dragon ball games are getting less bloody too.. The last few dragonball movies have been pretty soft too I guess. No blood whatsoever.

That episode aired in 1989. The Kai version was 2009. That's a 20 year difference where plenty of censorship laws can come and go. The US used to have smoking commercials with Flintstones characters.

You do realize that one-word replies every other post don't cut it here, right?

He's saying that censorship laws are different now than they were 20 years ago. You can't get away with the same stuff anymore.

Flintstones was for grown-ups back in the day, though. It ran on prime-time and was similar to other adult sitcoms like The Honeymooners.

there are way more violent thing on tv right now than DB from.back in the 90's...if they make DBZ an adult show and sell it as such, they could keep it authentic like it supposed to be.

Since when DBZ is adult show? You are a fan of kids cartoon, deal with that.
Also- "authentic"?

You are disregarding the fact that the tone has been significantly infantilized compared to what it used to be. Yes, it is a shonen and it was always a shonen, aka a show for young boys and teenage boys, but even within that genre, there are shows with "softer" tones and shows with "harder" tones.

By telling people to simply "deal" with it being a shonen, you are belittling their valid complains about the tone having been infantilized lately compared to what it once was.

I can understand censorship for TV, but why couldn't they show it uncensored on the home release?

Really, the scene after the Makankosappo was really the only BIG instance of blood censorship. There are others, but there's still plenty of instances where the blood was kept (Which, honestly, makes it even more bizarre, IMO. How was some of it allowed, but some of it wasn't?)

u have nude scenes (boobs), curse words, blood ...bodyparts getting cut, Death, Alcohol ...it's a kids show in the japanese definition but certainly not in the western ...so either u choose to make it adult cartoon ..which it is or u have to life with the cut DB.

Like seriously, I was just using the pictures from manga to prove my point of view on the topic.
