This 1000 fodders thing bothers me, Piccolo and Gohan should be so superior to them that they shouldn't be able to see them, hit them or even make them flinch. Such large power gaps leadig to stomp matches is something that was established in the manga. One AoE ki blast should vaporize them all with no problem.
The bull guy does make me curious though, but Freeza finding someone who would stomp his Namek saga 100% power would be mind boggingly stupid.
Yeah. Tenshinhan vs Freeza's thugs would be like that, except shorter and more brutal. To say nothing of Krillin, Piccolo, and freaking Gohan.
Poor Gohan. I don't even like his character, but this movie is fucking him over so badly. He went from wiping the floor with Super Buu to having trouble with generic grunts around Raditz's power (or, at the very least, grunts weaker than Dodoria). He can barely even turn Super Saiyan anymore, and seems to have completely forgotten about "Ultimate". Oh how the mighty have fallen.

He's probably referring to the Bardock special. Zarbon was the one who first recommended destroying Planet Vegeta because the saiyans were rapidly growing in strength.
It was actually Beerus disguised as Zarbon #StayWoke
Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

I posted a comparison. He doesn't seem to have the features of his Ultimate state.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Doctor. wrote:I've explained before, I'll just paraphrase myself.
Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.
In the next movie, we learn Gohan forgot how to fly. Meanwhile, Ultimate Goku will get a rage boost when Krillin is slapped, and become Ultimate SSJ2 Goku.
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super
Zombie wrote:So Gohan is seen fighting in base in the TV spot. Did they really changed their mind again?
Why jump to this type of conclusion? The scene with him going Super Saiyan has him taking off his glasses and in the recent trailer, his glasses are still on. The logical conclusion should be that whatever forces him to go Super Saiyan happens after said base form scene. Likely with him getting KO'd after both.

The same is for Tien, Yamcha (who isn't even there for some reason) and Krillin. It is just strange why they even need to fight. Any of them can easily destroy the whole army.

Well, there was Yakon, who could have been stronger than Frieza. And I am pretty sure that there are mindless beasts (such as Kid Buu and Yakon) who may be stronger than Frieza, but don't have enough intelligence/will/whatever else to conquer the universe and to rule it the way Frieza did.

For all we know there could several of Freeza's soldiers who have great hidden depths. Hey, if the Z-Fighters can get strong through training, then why can't the same be applied to any of Freeza's army?

Heck, even Videl can fly! When your wife has a better Ki control than you, you realize that something is wrong.

By the way, I don't think that Goku even cares anymore. Beerus pretty much did it with everyone, including his son. But he didn't even bother a little.

Well, I completely agree with it, I share the same view, that villains can get stronger as well, just like Z-Fighters do.

But they're not 'uber prodiges like Freeza. It took the Z-fighters roughly 1 year to get about 6 times stronger in order to fight the saiyans.
Heck Togama boasted about Sorbet being on par with Zarbon.
If Freeza's soldiers trained they would only get a few times stronger and still get killed by Piccolo's sneeze.

Opinions on Goku being over confident as a weakness? Seems more Vegeta than Goku
It seems like Goku but it has been overdone by this point. His training with Popo was to deal with the overconfidence the Choshinsui gave him. He was also overconfident against Beerus but quickly gained his humbleness back when defeated.
I just thought of something: Since the movie features the return of Freeza's army, and they have scouters, do you think we'll get any new confirmed power levels?

I'd certainly like for the humans to get some so we can finally get an idea of their strength, but the others we can guage just by the enemies they were able to fight. Except Piccolo but their scouters would probably break if they tried to calculate his.
When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.
How the Black Arc Should End (by Lightbing!):
Spoiler:
Absolute Zamasu(my name for their fusion) wins. He fulfils his utopia and dwells in his loneliness(x amount of time for this to happen). He starts to doubt of his achievements, Goku's body influences him to seek out challenges but there's nothing. Perfection becomes a curse. Absolute Zamasu starts to dread his existence and presents himself to the Omni-King, detailing on his actions.
Using his powers the Omni-King restores everything to the moment before Goku and Vegeta perish, humanity's last barrier. Zamasu concedes. He ask for forgiveness(mainly to Goku, Gowasu and Trunks) and understands that his justice isn't justice at all. He asks for judgement and the Omni-King delivers.
Trunks is forced never to travel in time ever again, all the time-machines are destroyed.
