How do you know it isn't Freeza that takes out Gohan? We don't see what causes him to go down.

Cause Goku and Vegeta are there with Gohan at all times. Why would Freeza waste his time on someone he doesn't care for. He only wants Goku. We have a screen shot with a 100% Gohan next to Goku & Vegeta. Gohan seems to fall in front of some mook. I don't see Freeza deviating from his fight with Goku just to attack Gohan while he's fighting some mooks.

Seriously a glass of milk gets better respect than most of the DBZ cast, and also has a better chance of being over.

Was that CGI? I didn't think it was. I didn't particularly notice anything that was CGI in the trailer (nothing major anyway). The characters all looked line drawn.

Jako was CG. Stuck out like a sore thumb, like all CG.

Even if this film only cost $400,000-600,000 to produce for eighty minutes that's still a good amount of money.
 No, no it isn't at all. Battle of Gods would have cost several times that much to produce, $400,000-600,000 is nothing.

What's the difference?

I disagree. Looks pretty seamless to me, I'm re-watching that portion and it doesn't look obviously CGI or obviously bad. Not like the BOG CGI which absolutely did look bad.

Yay for more Jaco footage! Also, while he may stick out as CGI...at least it's still better than the CG on those Freeza soldiers Roshi scatters. That part just looks...oww.

The average television episode costs $90,000-100,000 at the lower end. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann had $180,000-200,000 per episode. Even so, cels don't have to be spread across the film equally. A lot of the money could be saved for action cuts while dialogue cuts could merely use a small number of cels combined with interesting layouts and storyboarding. Satou Shinji, Niidome Toshiya and Murata Masahiko did wonders for their episodes of the 2002 Naruto series using only 3,000-4,000 cels per episode. Murata's Episode #139 and Episode #146 are genius examples of how to say a lot with little money.

Of course, Yamamuro doesn't seem to have any real sense of directing, so I doubt we'll see much here. These commercials and trailers have had some of the most bland and disgusting storyboarding I've ever seen.

Oh wow I didn't see that some random nameless guy with a blaster or 24,000 power level beat Goku, and then Freeza took credit for it....wait it was Freeza....after what seems to be an epic fight...hm. That's way better than dealing with no name minions who can't logically dent you. Imagine if Beerus was overwhelmed by Freeza's army. You'd probably think that's stupid too.

There's 2 forms of jobbing. The kind that makes someone look good without sacrificing someone's credibility (In this case Goku and Freeza having a cool bout rather than Freeza finger flicking Goku), and then there's a squash job where you lose without keeping any dignity (Like losing to people who can't hurt you, or to nameless characters).

I don't know how you guys are saying that sticks out like a sore thumb, it doesn't even look CGI to me. And what exactly is CGI during the Roshi scattering scene? Are you guys just making major assumptions on the animation?

I'm with you there. Especially compared to the BoG CGI.

With Jaco I'm not 100% sure, but with the soldiers that Roshi knocks away with his Kamehameha...it just seems kind of...it looks kind of like they're scattering away on clearly defined tracks, which screams lazy CG to me.

Yes we went through this before and you didn't understand it back then either. You just think its as simple as stacking the cost of a few episodes together and that is not the case.

These Naruto and One Piece movies arent just 80 minutes TV episodes.

As I mentioned before the entire cast and crew need to be paid specifically for this one movie, a score needs to be done just for this movie, they've gotta pay Momoiro Clover and Maximum the Hormone Z etc.

The movie has CGI costs, 3D conversion costs, it obviously costs more to make the more suitable for big screen viewing and then IMAX viewing and then 4DX viewing.

As I also mentioned back then the Transformers animated movie in 1986 cost $6 million as did Batman Mask of Phantasm.

The DC animated movies cost a few million also and Pokemon the movie cost millions of dollars. Some of these movies are 15-30 years old.

There is no conceivable way at all that this movie being made in 2015 cost anything but millions. Common sense alone should tell you this.

There's a reason these films are coming out so quickly and being produced so quickly with relatively untalented staff. They're cheap to make. Common sense says you don't give guys like Hosoda and Yamamuro multi-million dollar films.

JULIAN! JULIAN! JULIAN!....though seriously guys...especially people who are into power levels n shit, don't badger a guy who doesn't care about that stuff.

Hopefully this means Kanzenshuu can get an early summary out like when Kei I believe had the early screening, and helped create it.

Whether they are cheap to make or not when compared to other anime movies is another thing but it would still definitley cost in the millions, there's no doubt about that in the slightest.

If these movies could be made for that cheap they wouldn't have stopped making the Bleach movies or the Hunter x Hunter movies or the Dragon Ball Z movies for 17 years.
