Re: Video Games sales: Xenoverse 430k+
Businesses don't use the calendar year when diving up their financial results, they use the fiscal year. Bandai Namco, Toei Animation and Shueshia are all Japanese companies. They use a Japan-specific fiscal year, which runs from April 1st to March 31st. Battle of Z launched in January 2014, which means it's a fiscal year 2013 product. Xenoverse is fiscal 2014, etc.Psycho50501 wrote:The release date for Battle of Z was still in Jan of 2014 even for JapanSuper Saiyan Prime wrote:Battle of Z launched in Japanese fiscal 2013.

Shipments refer to the amount of units produced that were ordered by retailers. This doesn't mean the game has sold 1.5 million units to customers ... yet.Worldwide shipments for Dragon Ball Xenoverse have surpassed 1.5 million units, publisher Bandai Namco announced.
“I would like to thank everyone for their support on this new challenge,” Bandai Namco producer Masayuki Hirano said in a press release. “We decided to take a risk and create a completely new concept to entertain our fans and Dragon Ball lovers and we are quite proud of the successful result! On a more personal note, I feel honored to create a game around a licence as massive as Dragon Ball! On behalf of Bandai Namco Games: thanks for your amazing support! We will continue working and reaching new heights!”

We've waited so long to get a good game that can build a series and based on that press release it looks like this is it.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Re: Video Games sales: Xenoverse 1.5 million shipped
That's a really impressive shipment figure, Battle of Z was said to have shipped 620,000 copies. I don't know what any of the other games shipped except for the original Budokai which shipped 3.5 million copies.
Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 had shipped over 2 million copies by about a year and half after release.

I would say for under a month for world wide release that's pretty damn good for having shipped 1 million copies...

1.5 mill is excellent. This is what happens with good marketing.

Wow this is really impressive! Xenoverse 2 should be a sure thing now!
Re: Video Games sales: Xenoverse 1.5 million shipped
Of course these shipment figures wouldn't take into account the digital versions which will go on to sell pretty well too.

How can you ship digital copies? There's an infinite amount of them.

In the post-digital world most publishers lump their download sales with their physical shipments. This is the industry norm. If you had more sales figures, wouldn't you want to trumpet them?Bullza wrote:How can you ship digital copies? There's an infinite amount of them.

If they approach it correctly (as in, like an AAA release) Xenoverse could be one of this console generation's top fighting franchises. Bigger budget and more dev time will be key for the sequel, they're in very good position to build it into a trully big propertySora Saiyan wrote:Wow this is really impressive! Vgchartz (*ducks*) has finally put up the numbers for Europe and they have the game at selling 145k first week. Here's a link if anyone wants a look.
I wonder if they'll change the US numbers once they get around to publishing global figures.
