The manga version says he is a "life-form". Whatever that means...

A form of life, an organism, a being...just like everything else that lives: Beerus, Goku, Bluma, Oolong, a bug, a tree, etc.

He would give Whis trouble without Whis getting serious or full power.

Why Whis is so strong? Could it be that he is from a different universe? Like he is one of the Gods Of Destruction from the other universes he was talking about. Like how in the first place he could learn about them?

That could be the case. I heard a rumour that Whis is a mutant kaioshin.

This is a good theory. And he still can be from the another universe which makes things even more complicated Oo Do we know for sure if Kaioshins can become Gods of Destruction, or was it never stated?

Same as a "being." It's a joke. They ask him what he is, since they're awe-struck by his powers, and he basically says that he's a being known as Whis, which is purposely obvious.

The important part is his him calling himself a "Whis" as a individual/species or whatever, not the life-form portion. He's refusing to be specific for the sake of a joke and a little bit of mystery.

I don't think he hides anything, really. He's just a guy named Whis and is really strong. I doubt there'll be complicated things here.

Was just about to pop in here and say how hyped about this movie I was. I've been reading the manga previews all day today, and I love everything about them.

...and then I came in and saw the blue transformation. I really liked that it seemed like Goku and Vegeta would stay in their base form and just draw power from the godly ki, and I can't say I LOVE this design. If there is a decent explanation for this form, I'll likely be satisfied with it. Besides, I very much disliked Golden Freeza the first time I saw it, but it has grown on me to an absurd degree. Once we see this form animated, I'm sure something similar will happen.

I guess the thing I dislike most about this is that there has to be yet another transformation. Even if I thought the design was cool, I don't think it's something the Saiyans needed more of. But again, I'll withhold judgement until we hear an explanation.

Well, he didn't reveal who he was. We know that Kaioshin is Kaioshin, Kibito is his servant/bodyguard, Old Kaioshin is Kaioshin from the long past, but who is Whis? Why is he the one who trains Beerus? How he was chosen for that job? Why him being stronger than Beerus he doesn't destroy planets by himself, rather than choosing/training Beerus for this role. We don't even know why he is that strong to begin with. And the most important thing, if he is Kaioshin (theoretically), why both Old Kaioshin (East Kaioshin of the past) and present East Kaiosin don't know or recognize him?

There are gods who create and a god who destroys. I like to see Whis as the unknown one in the middle who keeps the god of destruction in check from ever going awol and harming the creators, which would subsequently disrupt the balance of the universe. I guess you can see it like Rayquaza from Pokemon, only on a universal level.

But Goku isn't apparently a random guy anymore, he is now a chosen one, the genius who was able to absorb SSJ God into himself.
