Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

No need to love everything DB related just because Toriyama made it
Opinions are fine. Everyone has them of course.
Insulting the author or anything that's not to YOUR liking isn't.
Why can't you insult authors?
They're not perfect and everything and everyone is open to criticism
If people want to call him lazy because all he did was change hair and eye colors and call it a transformation let them as long as they have backing behind it I don't see the problem
Anyone who knows anything about mangaka and animation knows that it takes serious dedication and time consuming work.
Calling AT lazy for making Goku's new form have blue hair is like calling Muhammad Ali lazy for wearing uninteresting shorts to a match.

We don't even know if this blue form is real. I'm not too fond of the blue hair either but if were to be real I wouldn't insult him for it. I'll just move on.
Yall love Toriyama THAT much huh? I understand calling the guy a "lazy shit" is outta line, but just calling him lazy isn't a big deal to some people, myself included. If the form's shitty, then I'll call it shitty and ask the author why the laziness?

Only I do those things, because people love me, and they despise you....derp!

"I don't like Blue hair on Goku, but maybe Vegeta... so that means Akira Toriyama is destroying the dragon ball fanbase. He is lazy and doesn't care. Even though I have no idea why this is his choice of design and the reasoning behind that. I refuse to respect his intentions because it goes against my preferences."
-Literally mostly every belittling, depressing, annoying vocal fan here. Grow up and learn to wait before being so critical.

Lol disrespect at its finest. "The form is shitty." Cool? What does that accomplish here? Is this your private chat room or a respective forum board... what the hell is wrong with this fanbase.

Criticism is fine, you can not like something and it's not the end of the world. But people don't have to be a dick about it. Insulting Toriyama and saying he should be dragged from his franchise is going a bit far.
Frankly, this topic has gotten pretty bad at times with the bile over relatively minor things.
Hell, have the blue figures even been confirmed yet as a thing from the movie? A lot of people would feel pretty silly if the movie came out and all that blue rage they had was addressing something nonexistent (Hell, it might be silly anyways if it ends up working better in action than on a not very good quality image of an SD figure).

To be frank, you should've asked this over a decade ago when some folks were turned off by the Ascended Saiyan forms and the SSJ3 forms.

To me it seems some people don't even like the series at all. Just countless nitpicking or bashing that hasn't been presented yet(rumor). Sorry for the rant btw
I'm sorry if things are toxic. You could consider me a skeptic, but I do have good things to say too. Things are kinda ugly now, but you'll definitely find people who are optimistic and a pleasure to talk to. You could always put the toxic comments on your foe listing, so you don't need to see them.
It's cool criticism is fine or not liking something is cool too.
Thanks for the advice
I think your quotes F'ed up...

This is something I agree with fully. I see the side of toxic comments that disgust me. However sometimes I see fanboyish comments too which also annoy me. I agree the toxic comments need to stop, but so do the judgmental ones when someone has a problem with a negative opinion. I see those too. In fact some comments remind me of the wait for Sonic Boom, where the same people who praised it, still did despite it being really shit. People there ignored or treated every issue like something that would be patched, or was a good decision. Also the "Wait til you play it or see it" excuse was thrown around a lot. Reminds me of this thread sometimes.
The toxic comments annoy me, but so do the one's that discourage a differing opinion that's not positive. I can't count how many "Positive people" have said "Wait til you see the movie" so people can't be skeptic.

Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!
Spoiler:
Doctor. wrote:I've explained before, I'll just paraphrase myself.
Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.
