I'm getting the feeling that this is movie is the part of a bigger picture. Not suffering from any real disappointment for Goku winning again because I always left that a possibility, but I'm kepping my fingers crossed for a better ending in the next movie, which will likely be even better.

I recall Toriyama stating when BoG first came out that if there was a new film it'd be focused around Vegeta? Or how the interviews said Vegeta's the star of the show? Or how Vegeta stated in Battle of Gods how he'd be the next Super Saiyan God? Or how the trailers heavily implied Vegeta would beat Freeza after Goku's down for the count? I didn't just say that out of my ass dude. This isn't just because Vegeta doesn't take down Freeza, it's because he dies again by Freeza. That's a pretty low blow to a character.

Still, that wasn't fully decided. He was essentially thinking out loud. And to be honest, in that trailer the dialogue almost makes it seem like Vegeta was going to betray us...

“Mr. Vegeta! I’ll make you the commander-in-chief of Freeza’s forces.”

Overreaction from Vegeta allegedly not getting the big finish aside, I can acknowledge that besides this movie sounding very status quo so far, there's still a ton of aspects we haven't heard about, such as Jaco's role, involvement from Bulma and the others, etc. I'm sure it'll still be a great fight between Goku and Freeza too. Positive thoughts, while I'm not super happy I know it'll still at least look cool, which is another factor in Dragon Ball IMHO

Well, Freeza does indeed manage to stomp both of them and destroy the Earth, apparently. Even if reversed, he got his revenge.

What the? this is the first time I heard calling someone a jap person as something insulting or bad. I just called him that for credibility that a japanese friend of mine was the one that told me that rather than google. Relax.

We don't know what Toriyama did with her. But if you are going to include her in the discussion, then you should be including all the game's tidbits. Which means Whis almost certainly didn't create an alternate timeline, because alternate timelines are created when people use primitive time machines. They don't function correctly and cause splits. Techniques like those used by Towa and Demigra, as well as time machines developed by the Time Kaioshin don't cause splits.

Ok guys at first I would've agreed with you, but now that I think about it, its just ONE movie. Not an entire series. If we start being ungrateful, this could be our last dbz film, or anything of that sort.

Some complains are valid, even if I don't share a few of them (and even when we've only seen a handful of lines about a 90+ minutes movie, but I digress) but I just CAN'T understand the complaint of "Goku saving the day again". Seriously, what series have you been following all these years? This is not DeathNote, or Evangelion, or any series you've seen with an incredible plot and amazing character development. Toriyama is not that kind of author, never has been. Dragon Ball was a series with a simple plot, but with great fights and silly humor. AND it is also a shonen series to a T, where the hero always defeats the main guy. Not the rival, not the sidekick; the hero.
And yes, Toriyama did state sometime ago how he'd like Vegeta to be the main hero, but couldn't he been musing aloud? I mean, when he said that we weren't even sure there'd be another movie!

Anyways, finally I got this off my chest, sooo.... TO THE LURK-CAVE!!

He goes Gold and starts winning.

It becomes clear that Golden Freeza has the same weakness as before(he has an issue with stamina fighting at max power)

Goku tries to take advantage of this but gets beaten by Golden Freeza (though part of it was being caught off guard by Sorbet)

Vegeta steps in and gives Goku a senzu and then fights Freeza instead.

Vegeta is winning but then Freeza blows up Earth thus killing Vegeta(Goku survives because he's over hanging out with Whis while watching Vegeta fight and he made a barrier)

Whis uses his power to go back 3 minutes in time so Goku can finish Freeza off with a Kamehameha before he gets to blow up Earth.

The summaries make it sound like that Goku saves the day in his original timeline too, and not just the one he got sent to by Whis. Which makes no sense if we play by the "old rules" (see Future Trunks), unless Whis has more control over time than just a mere mortal.
