Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.
Bullza wrote:Seeing as it looks like we won't be getting the summary anytime soon because Julian is probably asleep, would it really have been so hard for him to just let people know that he wasn't going to be posting up a summary today?
He must have known that there were going to be plenty of people that were going to be waiting to hear what he had to say, some people were staying up for it and getting up early for it.
But he just went to sleep without even bothering to let people know?
Come on, he is clearly tired after this event, I think that he just came back to see what was new here, saw a lot of posts in this thread on which he clearly didn't have time to reply to, so he just read a bunch of them, and replied to one major misbelief, and went to sleep. We have waited for this movie for 2 years, we may wait for just one more day.
Last I saw he or someone said he was going to do a short summary. A brief overview could have been written up in as little as 10 minutes but there was a 5 hour window where he'd been posting on his twitter.
Kei has also shown up sporadically the past few hours and answered several questions about the movie and he could have done one too.
There just seems to be more beating around the bush than need be.
If I am not mistaken he posted from his phone, it is not quite comfortable to post from it, let alone writing a summary. Plus he was on his way home afterwards.
This is exactly what I am speaking about, he didn't have time or a chance to write a proper summary.
We should just wait for one more day, not much of a problem

Well, seems like the word despair was just for the teasing. There's isn't anything "Shocking" here.
Still not as absurd as the "Clash!! 10,000,000,000 Powerful Warriors" from Meta-Coola movie though.
So the post-credits scene is Freeza's Hell cocoon still being empty?! I take that.
Its a bad move bring back a villain and kill him right away in the same movie. Come on Toriyama, you're better than that. Surprise me!
I have no doubt I will enjoy the movie anyway. Its impossible to be the worst ever, especially while I remember things like Lord Slug, Coola revenge etc...

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.
Favourite old DB Animators: Masaki Sato and Tadayoshi Yamamuro
Favourite new DB Animators: Yuya Takahashi and Chikashi Kubota

Well... Frieza destroyed the Earth after all... Kind of.
Something happened with him once again. But if he is not in the cocoon, then that means that he isn't dead
Well, it may still be very good, despite somewhat disappointing ending.

I know many of you will be expecting a full summary, and I promise I will do my best, but do keep in mind I will be decompressing a bit with Peking Duck et al. afterwards, then headed home where familial duties may require my input before anything else can be done. (I can certainly type a few things on my phone while taking the subway home, though.)
Also please remember the following:
I'll be seeing the 2D version, so I can't comment on the 3D effects.
I don't care about battle powers or who should logically be stronger than whom.
I will do my best to clarify plot points and dispel rumors, but I will do so at my own discretion and may not answer every question.
Getting snippy at me due to my failure to answer a particular question, or to give a satisfactory answer when the initial one is not to your liking, will give me every good reason to ignore your questions completely from that point on.
I can and likely will add to this list by Monday.
So with that in mind... feel free to get excited? I know I'm pretty fired up to be among the first few hundred people in the world to see the movie. And hopefully I'll be able to take enough of the heat so that nobody needs to pester Kei a week from Saturday.
He pretty much layed it out that he'll get to it as soon as he can but he's gonna do it at his leisure/discretion and he's asking not to pester him about it because that ain't cool.

That's fucking crazy.

I would really like to see this story continue in a sequel, keep it going like as if we were reading the manga. Nothing ends that quickly or easily in the manga.

It may sound crazy, but what if someone saved him? I can't actually even quite imagine who could possibly have done it. I highly doubt that Whis did it, because there was no need for him to do all this time-travel stuff then, Sorbet and Tagoma appear to be killed earlier, and Beerus... Just had a lot more reasons to kill Frieza. So my best guess is that if Frieza somehow survived, then some outside force interfered, someone like God of Destruction from the other universe. Don't know how it may work, but I don't see any other explanation as for now.

You don't know the exact details of how he spent those five hours (he has small children, for one), nor does he owe you a detailed minute-by-minute progress report of his life.
Seems like Freeza is pulling a "he is alive" moment just like Goku did on namek (thats if what people are saying is true). Sometimes no matter how hard you try some guys just wont die.
Doctor. wrote:So what's the post credit scene? Freeza's cocoon is empty?
Apparently so. Which may imply that Freeza really didn't die in the end.

Me as well... At least my boy Vegeta is bringing it...
I'm not a Vegeta fanboy either but I don't see how good is he taking advantage fighting a injured Freeza after battling Goku, he throws his Saiyan Pride in the trash cam again?
Are we too old to enjoy new Dragon Ball movies/series?

Guys, I'm going to be straight with you. If you feel the show has gotten 'silly' ... it hasn't. You're just 'too old for this shit'. Seriously, 95% of the people in those boards do not fit the target demographic of the show, so don't expect the show to be 'everything you hoped for'. I'm referring to the people here who expect Super to be rich with dark moments, serious storytelling, meaningful characters etc etc. It won't. It's a show for kids. A show for kids being kids. Everyone in those boards has a manchild in him/her, clamoring to get out, and that's fine. But having unrealistic expectations (such as believing the show grew up alongside you) is naïve at best. Honestly, do you take seriously a story where the supposed God of Destruction halts his urges to blow up stuff in order to eat ice cream sundae? That's the show's silliness at full force, take it for what it is. The show hasn't matured one bit, so don't expect it too. Again, I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I'm saying *that* is DB and always will be.
I don't mind waiting for the summary but when everyone is waiting to know if the blue SSJ God is real, does Vegeta beat Frieza, is there a cliffhanger and what is it then why is Jaco's voice actor and the name of the Red bull guy being mentioned instead when that's the least interesting thing to know.
It's like if I saw the new Avengers and everyone was asking about who dies, how is Ultron defeated and what's the after credits scene then I told you who the stunt double was for Scarlet Witch.

Yes, all these things are so important. More important than "real life."

I think this actually shows his character development. Earlier he fought only for his pride, but now he has the different reasons to live and fight for. Was it actually explained how exactly Vegeta was killed? Maybe he was trying to tank an attack protecting the Earth and failed to do that? It may be a good character development if he did something like that.

It's Kanzenshuu man. You should know how they do things by now...they take their time and do it right...and with class/efficiency. They're not just gonna throw some shit together. They're gonna put something together that's well made/official looking. This is probably the most authoritative Dragon Ball website on the internet. They're under constant pressure to maintain that quality.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.
If we're all here for a reason then I'm just visiting.
