But not for about 10-13 episodes. Sure, it depends on how good the story is(first half of AoT was perfect in that area), but still. Frankly though, I don't like anime as a whole as I used to, and that goes for every category, not just shonen. This series and One Piece(to a degree) are the only anime I still like.GeeRod wrote:Every goddamn shonen series is like that. Talk, fight and talk again. I would be like "shut up and fight already" after about 30 minutes of too much talking. BoG sorta did bore me to tears in that area. What was Toriyama trying to do, kiss the Otakus asses or something?

How is empty? I'm saying this because when we have a fight between characters, they talk A LOT. I'm not saying they talk about meaningless things and that's it.Drayenko wrote:This comment is so empty. If that were to be true, Dragon Ball wouldn't be what it is. I agree they shouldn't talk for 10-13 episodes. In BOG we got some little talk between Goku vs Beerus fight, you really got bored? Ok then...EXBadguy wrote:But not for about 10-13 episodes. I agree with the people who are saying you are all bashing the movie without giving it a chance. Kei just gave his opinion, are we all automatically supposed to have the same opinion as him? Just because he didn't like it doesn't mean no one else will. Personally I'm looking forward to watching it.

Kei17, how was the animation, the in-motion, and the overall direction of animation? Did it look better than Battle of Gods?
As the director, did Tadayoshi Yamamuro surpass your expectations or it's as we feared?

I had a feeling it was going to be mostly fighting, all the footage and images pointed to it.
I was hoping there would be more to it than that, it looks like it is just a generic revenge plot after all.
That said as much as I liked Battle of Gods it had next to no plot either and was let down by too much goofy comedy. I would take the additional action scenes over anything to do with Pilaf or dancing and singing Vegeta any day.
So this isn't disappointing to me. I would rather have the action than the comedy, a bit more of a story would have been nice though.

From the sounds of things Fukkatsu no F is definitely not the best Shounen JUMP film. I guess The Last: Naruto The Movie will continue to hold the title a little while more.

I honestly think I'm even more anxious to see the film now. After reading Kei's initial thoughts, I think I have a much better grasp on what to expect out of it, so I can go into it with the right mindset.

So is there a summary of the movie buried in this thread somewhere?
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection '
From the summary I read of The Last, it seemed like a terrible film. Still have to watch it though, but I'm really bummed that we don't even get a glimpse of Freeza's training. Perhaps it'll come in the extended edition?
Tim Duncan is dope and forever.

Kinda sad that Yamcha and Chaozu didn't get more of a role in this film. I was at least expecting them to fight some mooks given that I saw Roshi fighting in the trailer.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection '
I just want to reiterate how happy I am that Freeza dies at the end of the film.
I was so, so worried that they'd do something weird. Have him escape and vow to return again someday. Have Jaco arrest him. Or worst yet, give him a humorous change of heart. There were so many ways they could have messed this up, and Toriyama's so unpredictable. But as soon as Nakao proudly stated that they didn't want to ruin Freeza's image, I knew we were in good hands. Freeza's the best, most ruthless villain in all of Dragon Ball. He's too good for that "I'll get you NEXT TIME, Gadget!" stuff. He's too good for any "redemption" stuff. He's the same ol' Freeza as ever, and he's way too dangerous to be kept alive. He needed to be vanquished completely. And this premise isn't good enough to carry more than one film. They handled it perfectly.
And y'know what? I'm happy Goku kills him. I don't like it when Goku wins everything, but darn it, Freeza is the one villain that Goku deserved to beat.
EDIT: It's nice to see everyone acting so optimistic for a change. So... what happened, exactly? We just needed Kei telling us that the movie was sub-par for everyone to band together and say "Well, I'll try to enjoy it for what it is..." The heck? Actually, wait. Forget it. FORGET IT. Don't try to figure it out. Just keep acting awesome.

That's a really good point on Freeza. I wouldn't have minded if Jaco arrested him, but I can see how that would be a bad move (What kind of prison could hold Freeza, anyway?).

I've been told of promises of super-fun Gokû and Vegeta relationship stuff and am genuinely surprised by just how heavily it's baited me into excitement/positivity.MagicBox wrote:I just want to reiterate how happy I am that Freeza dies at the end of the film.

Even if there isn't much plot on the story front; character development between the two of them is an easy way for me to drop any sadness I felt towards possibly losing magenta ssjg Gokû (I still don't know if he's in this movie, actually).
Also, adorable awkward hand-holding teleport! First scene from the movie I see fanart of and it's that! With Gokû all :3 and Vegeta doin' his tsundere looking-away thing. How can I possibly stay upset when I know that happens?

At this point, before the summary is posted, all I'd honestly like is a non-secondhand translation/explanation of what Blue!Super Saiyan is. There are a couple different versions I've seen floating around and I kind of feel like not providing an explanation of whatever details were given in the film is just helping part of the western fanbase to spread misinformation. So I was hoping this would have been nipped in the bud. Stuff like Bills was an uphill battle. :/

Again, though. What were you expecting?SSJGFrieza wrote:him coming back just be killed to be off again was stupid and pointless
There's absolutely no other ending for a character like Freeza. Keeping him alive, making him a recurring villain, etc. Nothing else does the character justice, and the premise doesn't warrant anything more than what Kei said we got. We got to have one last story with Dragon Ball's most popular villain. We got to have one last story with Nakao in the recording booth. I don't know how anyone could have expected this to turn into a multi-film epic or whatever people were thinking.
