Because people are trying to make Vegeta seem bigger because he didn't get the kill. Such quotes as "Vegeta could beat Freeza while Goku couldn't". All it sounds like to me is trying to make Vegeta sound better than he is. Some people label me as just some Gohan fanboy even though Goku is right up there with him as my favourite. I don't talk about Goku as he gets the main character treatment, nothing else to say.

I'm someone who's happy Gohan one shotted Shisami, but am not happy it came at Piccolo's expense. So I do care about giving other characters their moments, without having to make someone else look bad.

It seems vegetaism is a thing for a lot of people here, likewise mate I love Gohan Goku also Goten to the same extent. I hope people dont get me wrong that they may think I hate Vegeta cuz I dont, I dont hate anyone in dbz, yes even the saibaman that self destructed himself to take out Yamcha. Its just that people seem to take that Vegeta>>>>>>Goku in the battle against Frieza and their ignoring the fact that Frieza have indeed killed Vegeta so I dont see that as a win. They keep saying that Vegeta won against frieza but also doesnt mention that Vegeta fought a depleted Frieza and that Frieza got help from Sorbet on beating Goku. Some people are too blinded for their love Vegeta.

Guys there are no rules in a life or death fight. It's kill or be killed. That's all there is to it. There is no cheating when there aren't any rules. Goku lost apparently with Sorbet helping Freeza. Vegeta lost as Freeza killed him. Goku won as he killed Freeza in the end. You could say Vegeta won as Goku accomplished the goal for Z warriors, which is the team Vegeta is on. So Vegeta did win as Goku killed Freeza for Team Z Warriors.

If you want you could say Goku won for Team Z Fighters and only Freeza lost as that was the final result.

Thank you for brilliantly summing it up dbzfan7. Freeza, Goku, Vegeta, Beerus, Whis etc. don't follow any kind of rules in battle. It's live or die. And they are all fully aware of that.

Besides, that's a lesson Piccolo was already trying to teach Gohan who talked about cheating. No rules, it's just Goku and Vegeta who sometimes made some out of pride, when Beerus and Whis try to teach them that they need to change the way they've always been (too soft, too confident, too thoughtful, etc...).

Your post adds nothing to the conversation.

And many of your posts/this discussion are/is unrelated to the movie, as there is no point in discussing one's opinion/how one should have his/her opinion.

My posts are directly related to the justifications, or lack-thereof, for the breadth of criticism of the film as a whole that is being made. I'm making an earnest effort to clearly and concisely convey why some degrees of critique require greater understanding. Having a conceptual understanding of the film's basic story outline is not grounds for critique of the film as a whole. Several users are critiquing the film as a whole (or at least making it sound as if they are), despite only having the epistemic justification for critique of the conceptual story outline. If the moderation feels what I'm discussing to be off topic, I'll gladly cease posting about it.

Meanwhile, you make a post that amounts to little more than hitting a 'like' button, despite having the mods and admins advise us repeatedly (in this thread alone) to actually try and make worthwhile posts with thought, sophistication, and awesomeness behind them.

Agreed. We are rather tired of having our opinions belittled for no reason other than that they don't match someone else's. Whether someone agrees with that opinion or not is no cause to publicly dismiss them as "not worth reading". Is anyone running around faulting people for having positive opinions about the movie?

You're either misunderstanding, or you're intentionally misrepresenting the arguments. Kei17 himself already spoke very negatively of the film. He's just saying that judgments made without sufficient justification are weak judgments, and that weak judgments being paraded around as strong judgments aren't worth entertaining.

Never got the need to inflate a character up to more than they are. Or this incessant need to whine about how "badly" Vegeta was treated.

Incorrect, sirs. It makes his opinion more well-rounded, but not more valid. I don't need to have physically viewed the movie to dislike the things I've heard about it so far.

Of course you can dislike specific things about the movie you've heard thus far. No one is saying you can't. But completely basing your opinion of the movie, based off of forum posts without having seen it, does not really make the criticism entirely valid. That'd be like a professional critic reviewing a game for instance, looking up how the mechanics work, what the story is, etc. and then reviewing it and saying it's a terrible game. Criticism doesn't work that way.

Anyway, I'm kinda disappointed by somethings, I've read so far, like the whole blue SSJG deal, lack of character development, etc. but at the same time I can't say the movie sounds awful. I'll probably wind up finding some enjoyment out of the film once it comes out state side, even if some of the story sounds disappointing to an extent.

Anyway, just playing. Welcome to Kanzenshuu, I'm new here also.

Vegeta is too slow/lacks caution, Goku gets overconfident/naive, and Freeza didn't assess the enemy's powers correctly. Everyone kinda sorta lost in the end, as all "victories" aren't exactly clean. In the end, yeah, the only winner is Goku, but I doubt he feels like that was a win. This feels like real fighting, like wars do. But also, in the realm of DBZ really seems like it was a "training" movie, as some have pointed out.

On a side note, I love how unbelievably fickle Beerus is. He's the best thing to come out of recent Dragon Ball history.
