12 Universes Discussion Thread
Thought I would make this because a lot of people seem to want to talk about it.
I'm just curious though, what do people actually want out of the 12 Universes anyway because I honestly find the idea of jumping from universe to universe uninteresting, but I guess anything is possible and I'm up for anything involving DBZ.

Re: 12 Universes Discussion Thread
There's nothing truly interesting about visiting another universe when the one they have is still entirely unexplored.
That said, I'd like to see the other Gods of Destruction and Creation, as well as the "Other World" of those universes. I like to imagine they all operate under a different structure and hierarchy than the one we know--maybe they don't even have kais.
I think the sort of movie I'd like to see is a tournament orientated one featuring all the Gods of Destruction, Whis, Goku, Vegeta, Z-cast, and other warriors from the different universes.
Alternatively, I'd like an end-all villain. Someone who just takes over all the other universes and heads to #7 as his last and final one with an army of billions. Someone relevant, intelligent, immensely powerful on a realm greater than Whis. No more baby god BS with Whis as a babysitter. I want characters dead, the dragon balls destroyed, Whis taken out. Shit needs to get real.

Re: 12 Universes Discussion Thread
I initially posted this in the Revival of F thread, but I thought I'd re-post it here:
EDIT: On the 12 universes thing, I feel like I'm the only one that doesn't think it's necessary for them to actually be explored in future films. To me, it seemed to serve its purpose for putting Goku and co. into perspective and providing a sense of scale to an already massive universe. I think thinking about the potential that this concept holds is what creates that sense of awe, and I feel that literally exploring it would take some of that away. I know if they don't utilize the universes it'll potentially just look like random bullshit, but the way it's presented in the film makes it seem like a throwaway line anyway. I think leaving it as simply a random tidbit maintains that element of mystery surrounding the world that these characters live in and that no matter how far they've explored and no matter how strong they get, there's always something more. And if we actually got to see see all of this, I think it would suddenly confine everything and create a limit that I feel wouldn't fit with the ideas that Dragon Ball is based around and the view Toriyama has for the series. But hey, maybe I'm wrong. If they were to visit the other universes, I feel like they'd have to keep expanding it to retain that sense of how limitless this world and these characters are.

I still want to see a Aztec or Greek theme god if we get a god from another universe.

Re: 12 Universes Discussion Thread
I don't think we will see them travelling in the 12 Universes, I think the 12 Universes are a plot device to bring new enemies on Earth that are stronger than anything we've seen so far. Goku will eventually surpass Whis, it's inevitable, and where do we go after that? They can't just bring a new alien that is stronger than everyone out of nowhere, but they can bring him out of somewhere.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Re: 12 Universes Discussion Thread
The 12 universe thing is kind of a double edged sword. There is still so much in the Dragon Ball universe itself that remained untouched and unexplored. But at the same time the whole theory that there is potentially a multiverse is such a refreshing concept that it would seem so pointless to mention that there are 11 other universes and we never see what they are. The 12 universes scenario is kinda like Pandora's Box; once it's opened it will never close.

Shouldn´t this go in the In-Universe thread ?
Dragon Ball was always a kid series and fans should stop being in denial.
Re: 12 Universes Discussion Thread
I think the idea is that we're discussing the 12 universes from a storytelling perspective and what we want out of the concept, not theorizing what the 12 universes actually contain in-universe (or rather, in-multiverse).Neo-Makaiōshin wrote:Shouldn´t this go in the In-Universe thread ?

Re: 12 Universes Discussion Thread
I want the remaining eleven gods to be inspired to something
2nd God: Kratos inspired tragic antihero with a reason to become strong. He uses wind and water to fight and is a very intellectual strategist.
3rd God: A humanoid god that is a Shao Kahn lookalike. He has a psychotic mentality, but has morals. He doesn't use ki at all. Only hand to hand combat and hammer.
4th: A female god that is a fusion of Medussa and Orochimaru that looks old and uses her tongue and snakes to fight. She can also transform to a giant King Cobra.
5th: Another humanoid god. A fusion of regular Devil May Cry Dante and the reboot Dante. He can be laid back, but can cuss you out if you piss him off. He smokes a cigarrette, wields a katana to fight, and use telekinesis and psychokinesis as his main ki.
6th: A god inspired by God of War's Zeus. Uses lightning and can transform to a giant. He can be a villain.
7th: Kotal Kahn aztec lookalike that has a neutral alignment. He gets along with most gods(excluding the 3rd God), has a chainsaw-like sword, and uses earth as his special technique.
8th: A humanoid god that's a Sol Badguy lookalike with a lazy-like attitude and a very young look and physique. But he can be fast as lightning and his punches and kicks are made out of dynamite, sorta like Hercule's dynamite kick in the Budokai games. He is known as the fastest god of the galaxy.
9th: A god that can look like a combination of Jason Vorhees and Nelo Angelo from Devil May Cry 1. He has a neutral alignment like the 7th god and wields a Zweilhander that can have dark energy imbued and can transform to a halberd-like axe.
10th: A black frail humanoid lady that can control the weather to fight. She has a sweet personality. She also has a demon transformation and can use a fusion of lightning, fire, and ki to fight.
11th: The strongest god that has looks and physique similar to Nappa, but has long curly hair. He can be buff, but can have regal clothes. He can use all of the Japanese classical elements, has a unique fighting style that is a combination between Goku's and Brolys, and has a final transformation, which has bigger muscles, LSSJ Broly's hair, but sharp and black, darker skin, sharp fang teeth, and a satan-like physique with cool wings. He'll be one of the strongest fighters Goku has ever faced.

But I would like something like this Saint Seiya like. The series heads towards the Olympian Gods longer than I am alive and I wonder, if I'll ever see the climax.

The 12 universe thing won't happen unless another series is in the works.
Hi
Re: 12 Universes Discussion Thread
Crazy thought; what if the multiple universe thing refers to alternate universes discovered via time-travel? Is Mirai Trunks from one of these universes? Is Cell from another universe?

This is a fanart example, but pretty much shows what I want.
I just want to see more interesting Gods Duo like Beerus and Whis. The 12 universes is just a excuse to see more of these guys.
If Toriyama can introduce more Gods, without multiverse then is fine to me.
I got disappointed when the new characters for FNF turnt out to be mere Freeza soldiers. Tagoma dies right away and Sorbet doesn't seem to be the most interesting Freeza soldier.
I like the idea.

I already had thought about the others universe being other Toriyama's works: Dr Sump, Kintoki, Jaco, Sandland.. Everything would connect to Dragon Ball.KameRule wrote:Crazy thought; what if the multiple universe thing refers to alternate universes discovered via time-travel? That would be cool. Also, it kind of works if you include Toriyama's other manga.KameRule wrote:Crazy thought; what if the multiple universe thing refers to alternate universes discovered via time-travel? Is Mirai Trunks from one of these universes? Is Cell from another universe?
1) Pola and Roid: They go back in time and its implied this may possibly be where human life evolved from (they leave two gorillas in the past, one called Adam and the other Eve).
2) Tokimecha (spelling may be off there): In the future, a girl invents a time machine and accidentally gets trapped in the dinosaur era.
3) Doctor Slump: A machine called the Time Slipper is invented by Sembei. It gets used as the basis for time travel 6 times (5 to the past, 1 to the future).
4) Dragonball: Three timelines are created from DB Time Travel (the manga's, Trunks' and an unseen additional timeline created by the Trunks from Cell's timeline).
That's 11 timelines right there. Including the original, you get 12, each with its own universe. BoG says there are 12 universes.
Riiiiiight, because Marvel was being so original when it invented Thor and its Norse gods. I'm sure the fact that they're all carbon copies of Thor and the Norse gods from mythology is pure coincidence.dougo13 wrote:So where did he get the idea from? The concept of a multiverse is nothing new, especially when it involves 7 or 12 universes (which is most likely why the DB Universe is Universe 7 out of 12). Where do you think Marvel and DC got the idea from?
