Dan Dan Kokoro, I must say, is awesome. Gotta give GT that.

Re: And It's Gangsta Time!
I plan on doing the entire 508 episode run in Japanese (alongside Movies and Specials) afterwards. Though, not immediately. I plan on seeing Kai first.fdsfgs71 wrote:As soon as you finish GT, you really should rewatch it with the Japanese soundtrack, as it's really almost like an entirely different (and IMO, better) experience.Valerius Dover wrote:The music isn't as memorable as in Z, but it's ok, I guess.
Seriously, if there was one thing that made me stop watching GT when it was first airing on Toonami, it was Mark Menza's OST.

Everything in English, then all of Kai, then everything in Japanese...? You have some serious willpower there to commit to that kind of thing.

Re: And It's Gangsta Time!
I'm watching the series right now with the original Japanese score, and the difference is seriously like night and day. IMO, the Japanese soundtrack is just so much better.fadeddreams5 wrote:I need to do this. I feel I may be a bit biased towards the series because his OST is atrocious. That, or just very, very redundant. Same theme plays in like every scene, and it's a very boring theme to boot. Makes the whole experience a drag. Even the narrator sounds bored.
Including The Final Chapters? For the original series, with the Yamamoto score or the replacement Kikuchi score?Valerius Dover wrote:I plan on seeing Kai first.

Re: And It's Gangsta Time!
Getting Season Sets. So, for consistency I'll go Kikuchi all the way, since that's the official release we should be supporting. As for The Final Chapters, which may be announced tomorrow....it depends on how long it takes for the Seasons to come out.fdsfgs71 wrote:Including The Final Chapters? Re: And It's Gangsta Time!
And after a break, I am now coming back to GT! Started the Baby Saga, only two episodes this time, covering the entire battle with the Mega Cannon Sigma Force.
-Episode 17's recap has the narrator summarize the series so far, even though the images only show stuff from last episode.
-Actually, Chandler's Narration sounds a little different now. He's more monotone than before. He now sounds less like Hebert.
-Eyecatchers have the GT beat going three rounds like the Title Card rather than two like before. This leaves no moment of silence in the eyecatchers.
-Speaking of silence, the music allows for more of it now in the actual episodes. Usually not for long periods at a time, but it's surprisingly frequent.
-Well, the Sigma Force were entertaining enough to have around. Natt, Bizu, Ribet, and Commander Nezi remind me of a certain other group from before.
-Commander Nezi has a female VA, Cindy Beal.

I may have to revisit GT and try and get a bit further than before.
Because "Mega Cannon Sigma Force".

Re: And It's Gangsta Time!
This is because episode 17 of GT was actually the second episode of the GT dub rather than the seventeenth, the first 16 episodes were skipped over and compiled into a dub-only recap episode called "A Grand Problem". Once episodes 17-64 were done being released, Funi then went back and released the first 16 episodes as "Dragon Ball GT: The Lost Episodes".Valerius Dover wrote:-Episode 17's recap has the narrator summarize the series so far, even though the images only show stuff from last episode.

Re: And It's Gangsta Time!
Another 4 Episodes this time. I'm at the point where Dr. Myuu has met his end at the hands of his creator, Baby.
-And Trunks is carbonite!
-General Rilldo goes through a few more forms and then actually wins the battle against Goku. Being stronger than Majin Buu probably helps.
-Oh, didn't expect to see the scientist from Robot Hell again. Pan was being a little harsh on him, methinks.
-So Giru was good all along! I figured that was the case. Trunks pulled a rather well-thought out plan.
-MY BABY. It's seriously pretty funny listening to Myuu whine about his Baby for an entire episode.
-Episode 21 actually recycles some music from The Return of Cooler, namely the Super Saiyan theme when Trunks shows up, and one battle track is briefly played later as well. It's really noticeable, since they're a bit different in style and approach, despite having the same composer.
-Also, the eyecatcher music is, as of Episode 19, back to normal. I prefer two rounds over three, so no complaints here.

Hate to be that guy, but Trunks wasn't in either of the Cooler movies, IIRC.

^Oh, I know that. Should've been more clear with what I meant. I meant that the Super Saiyan theme from The Return of Cooler plays when Trunks reveals himself as alive in Episode 21 of DBGT.

Re: And It's Gangsta Time!
Oh, forgot to mention a funny line from before. Trunks saying he doesn't want to stare Baby down.
So, another 4 episodes. I'm at the point where Gohan has just been possessed by Baby.
-General Rilldo is seemingly beaten with metal still being left on the planet. Presumably, it is Baby, and not the Grand Tour crew, who killed him.
-Goku's fear of shots is brought back!
-Oh, all the people on Earth. We haven't seen any of them for over 20 episodes now.
-Bulla getting Vegeta to shave his mustache! His reaction to her comment is priceless.
-I kind of expected Valese to be like Krillin's ex Maron, but she seems to be sheltered, not dumb. Also, she's super positive about everything.
-Once Baby possesses Gohan, he utilizes his Super Saiyan form. Presumably, he doesn't know that it's unnecessary.

Re: And It's Gangsta Time!
If I recall correctly, Gohan uses SSJ even when not possessed by Baby in GT. If so, possibilities:
1. They're implying mystic was temporary.
2. They're implying he somehow surpassed mystic and can go SSJ even on top of it, despite that kind of contradicting the whole idea of mystic.
3. They somehow forgot he doesn't do that anymore.
4. They just really liked Super Saiyans and are conveniently ignoring the fact that he doesn't do that anymore.

Re: And It's Gangsta Time!
GT itself seems to not know it's unnecessary -- Gohan will go on to use Super Saiyan in later arcs with no mention of his ultimate power up.

Uh, guys.
So, him using it in GT isn't contradictory anymore.

Hardly a spoiler if it's in the trailer. Anyway, we haven't seen the movie so maybe they'll explain it.

I don't see how Gohan suddenly using SSJ in a movie makes it not contradictory, while Gohan using it in GT makes.Zenkai wrote:Uh, guys.

I think they meant it doesn't contradict canon anymore, if we count the new movies as canon (which I do, but I know there's debate about that).

Re: And It's Gangsta Time!
What I meant was that movies themselves contradict original manga, canon or not. Frankly, me, personally, don't have any problems with it at all.Captain Space wrote:I think they meant it doesn't contradict canon anymore, if we count the new movies as canon (which I do, but I know there's debate about that).
