This movie didn't expand on anything that BoG set up. No other universes, no other Gods of Destruction, no backstory on Freeza, Freeza just dies at the end, no cliffhanger for the 3rd film.(let's face it we're getting one) Plus it went back to the status quo with Goku getting to be the hero and everyone else but Vegeta shoved aside and even then Vegeta didn't get to finish off Freeza even though he should have.
It was nothing but fanservice and not the good kind.

Pretty sure the ending theme was Vow of Z by Momoiro Clover Z (spelling?). Don't see why it wouldn't be considering it was used in the main trailer for the film.dbzfan7 wrote:That's a good question. Kei, can you give any input on this?soulnova wrote:Goku: *nervous laugh* *flies away*
You forgot to add that the credits theme was Cha La Head Cha La....well I think it is.....is it? What is the credits theme?

Never have Head Cha La be merely B-Side...especially to....that thing...DragonBoxZTheMovies wrote:Pretty sure the ending theme was Vow of Z by Momoiro Clover Z (spelling?). Vegeta doesn't deserve anything. This movie is about them learning how to harness this new power and evolve as fighters, not expanding the universe. One thing I will agree with you is how Freeza didn't get any backstory or how there is no cliffhanger hinting at something. The third movie (if there is one) will probably do the expanding now that Goku and Vegeta are powered up and ready to go.SSJGFrieza wrote:This movie didn't expand on anything that BoG set up. It expended on Goku' and Vegeta's relationship apparently. Frankly, I'd love a short special just to see the two interact, we haven't had too much of this new post Majin Vegeta who actually likes Goku.SSJGFrieza wrote:This movie didn't expand on anything that BoG set up. I would like a slice of life OVA series of them just goofing off and Goku trolling Vegeta.Doctor. wrote:It expended on Goku' and Vegeta's relationship apparently. 2008 OVA was the closest to that.SSJGFrieza wrote:I would like a slice of life OVA series of them just goofing off and Goku trolling Vegeta.Doctor. wrote:It expended on Goku' and Vegeta's relationship apparently. Everyone bitching about no cliffhanger or major foreshadowing:
Do you really think it'd be a good idea for a series with a 60 year-old writer / artist and 80 year-old main voice actor to leave major loose ends untied? If this is the last AT-helmed movie or Masako's last movie, it'd be best not to shoehorn anyone else taking over the series into a certain plot.

Vegeta and Goku don't really interact that much in a non-serious situation in the series. The 2008 OVA and Fusion Reborn was really the best we got in terms of seeing the chemistry between Goku and Vegeta. And it was awesome.FortuneSSJ wrote:Why?! I wonder if we'll have to wait as long for the blu ray/uncut DVD, maybe because Funi got the rights so soon maybe we won't have to.

If any writer thought like that, he wouldn't go anywhere.RealtreeByGod wrote:Everyone bitching about no cliffhanger or major foreshadowing:

There were good endings for this like:
- Freeza not going to Hell (like we were assuming)
- Trigger something in Univese 7 and runaway for other universe
- Another God being behind all this
etc.
Toriyama chose the easy way. At least, Vegeta should have been the one to finish Freeza.
It's normal people being disappointed with this ending.
But have a meh ending doesn't mean the movie is the worst thing ever. That's just typical exaggeration from some people.
From what I read, i have no doubt i will have a good time. The movie stills seems great to me, despite these details.

The series is over and the ending was published/aired almost 20 years ago so it's not exactly possible to leave major loose ends untied.RealtreeByGod wrote:Everyone bitching about no cliffhanger or major foreshadowing:

Doing worthless stories like this just makes the movie seem like pure filler on the level of Toei's original ones. They're already playing it safe by setting this stuff during the "gap" so the least they could have done was come up with some more interesting plot points to expand the DB universe.

Its not unbelievable when you think about what happened in Freeza arc.MasterVampire wrote:I'm just glad freeza is dead despite having the most unbelievable power up in the history of DBZ
He didn't even reach Goku/Vegeta level. If he became stornger that everyone, Beerus and Whis included, yeah that could be "unbelievable".

I can't even describe how happy I am that all those fan-assumptions (ever since BoG was released) turned out to be false.
"Beerus is gonna train Goku!" NOPE.
"Another Hakaishin from another universe will be the main villa- nope, it's Freeza... But he will become a god!" NOPE.
"No way Vegeta became a Super Saiyan God off-screen, we will see it in the new movie, and it will be blue!" NOPE.
"Vegeta will kill Freeza!" NOPE.
"Freeza will survive in the end of the movie!" NOPE.
So far, the movie sounds awesome, and I can't wait for the summary, not to mention the movie itself! But I have a long way until there...

James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.
