I don't even know how to answer this. Based on stuff like blue SSJs, Gohan losing his powers and being a bitch, Piccolo getting mopped by a scrub, OP Goku still getting nearly killed by a wimp after dropping his guard, Vegeta being a p****, rituals involving the power of friendship, mostly irrelevant cast, and a consistent lack of actual urgency/threat (now strengthened by the broken ability of some...random guy), I want to say no.

But I'm also optimistic future releases will be better, so I also want to say yes. Plus, I'm sure I'll still get enjoyment out of F, despite its apparent flaws.
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

He has it when Uub arrives. And it was outright stated that Mystic changed Gohan's personality, turning him colder and willing to fight, so making Gohan a chump again contradicts the manga.
All we see are that his eyes are drawn the same. That could mean that he simply kept the same mature mentality, not that his power was still there.

So it proves nothing.

Don't try to authorize your personal standpoint. You always throw in agressive comments that solely stand on your own opnion as if it's the absolute fact, which contribute nothing to our discussions.
Supporting something you think is bad in hopes of them making something good in the future is horribly flawed. If a bad movie gets tons of support, they'll just keep making bad movies since that's what sells.

Well, Toriyama can piss off then, since Dragonball is a completed work no matter what horseshit he tries to slap on it twenty years after the fact.

By reading the synopsis, I think the movie will be a big hit in latin america, the vast majority love each and every one of the dbz movies. This seems to go with that formula. I myself will enjoy it, we get dbz movies on tv now and then so most people will definitely enjoy this.

Thanks for letting me know that, I wasn't aware that was the case. A.T. has been doing a lot of retcon lately to the point where EOZ is in serious danger of remaining the same.

Toriyama can piss off? He created Dragonball and frankly is allowed to do anything he want with HIS creation. He has every right to change the story if he wishes to. Maybe he didn't like the way Z ended. It'll always be there, but this is what the man wants to do with his creation.

Well, if the author decides to go back and apply an eraser to what he did, he is entitled to that. The work is only considered complete once the pencil is put away for good, and he obviously still has the itch.

I'm very excited and hope this movie is a hit. Anything new that is Dragonball I am all for.

I'm really not getting why so many of you seem so angry at this movie. It seems that you expected a lot of things to happen when you had no real reason to. I have a feeling that many of you would not have been happy with most of Dragon Ball if you had been reading it/watching it as it came out.

They haven't seen the movie yet they still hate it. I'm excited for this movie and I'll probably see it in theaters with my cousins and have a good time while everyone else bitches about poor old Vegeta not getting the kill.

I'm excited to watch this movie. Getting fun Gokû and Vegeta banter is a treat. I want to see Vegeta's reaction-faces to the hand-holding. I want to see Gokû's reaction when Freeza destroys the planet. The movie summary feels short, but I know there's stuff that just wouldn't show up in this medium.

Freeza dryly notes that Earth’s fighters are intentionally avoiding killing their foes.
I think this is the dumbest part of the film. Why the hell would they not kill the Freeza soldiers, they are a threat to the planet. They were prepared to kill Saibamen and the saiyans during their invasion, they were willing to sacrafice their lives to stop Piccolo Daimo. But not here?
Piccolo is taken on directly by Shisami, who proves a more formidable challenge than the others.
Piccolo getting pressured by a Zarbon level fighter, lol.
Freeza eyes Gohan and knocks him down with a single blast. Kuririn panics when he realize that Gohan has no pulse.
Gohan actually dies
Freeza acknowledges the cheap name, but refers to it as “Golden Freeza” anyway.
This part sounds pretty funny.
Just then, a bolt of energy comes from behind Freeza and pierces Goku straight through the heart: it was Sorbet with his ring.
If Goku was still in his Ascended Saiyan God form (that's what I call it lol) then this part is also BS.
Freeza sends a ball of energy straight into the ground below him. The Earth’s crust cracks and distorts, revealing magma underneath that rushes to the surface. Earth is engulfed in fire, and explodes in a giant shockwave.
Sooo... Freeza dies too?

Has anyone mentioned what this new SSJ form means for GT? It seems to me like this is the final "nail in the coffin" for GT being a part of the official continuity.

I'll say! I've been waiting for them to feature him. :3

Re: GT

Hadn't thought about it, and not really a continuity-connector, but it looks that way. (Also now Pilaf Gang have a million in cash so they don't have much need to get their adult bodies back anytime fast anymore). Unless Toriyama goes back and undoes what he did with the ssjg powers.

Even if we have split it, I can't imagine them officially acknowledging it; Dragon Ball Heroes is too dependent on GT to have it officially invalidated.

Well I think about the only thing you can get everyone to agree on is that the original manga is the "official continuity" and everything else is just whatever you decide. Want this movie to be "official," well go right ahead because otherwise people will point out that Toriyama said it was made AS IF the manga was continued. Want the TOEI movies to count? Good luck! But you can if you like. Want GT to count? Ignore these new movies and try to accept GT as the logical next step after DBZ ends.

Personally, I consider the manga Toriyama wrote and the anime from DB to DBZ + Yo! Son Goku + BOG + ROF as the official continuity making GT now retconned. And the previous 13 movies are all "what if" scenario side stories.

That's what I got from it. Hopefully that's the case...though it makes me wonder what kind of villain would require that...

I don't think Heroes would be affected, it has alternate time-lines and alternate realities with "what if" scenarios that never happened in the series.

That's true. Heroes does just do whatever it wants. Oozaru Brolli's character design is proof of that.

Hoping for that reality-warper villain I thought Beerus was going to be back during BOG speculation. :3

Just watching them awkwardly being forced to work as a team just makes me grin both because of how Gokû and Vegeta interact with each other and because of how not-in-sync they are. It's mentioned in the manga adaption; doesn't seem like it gets resolved in the movie.

If Vegeta gets flustered just holding hands, actual teamwork will be a huge (and entertaining) challenge to accomplish.

Excessive negativity at its max. I'm sure that this movie is 100 times better than that bio crap.
What would you put as your top 3 DBZ films?
I ranked all the movies. Of course, this is just my personal opinion, though. Maybe this would be helpful for someone with the same tastes as mine.

OK Goku says he doesn't need to go Super Saiyan but goes even in a more overpowered god Super Saiyan mode later on?
