When should we expect to see an image of the Blue SSJG?

Does the base God state of Goku & Vegeta (aka using Super Saiyan God's power in base) work like a transformation, like it happened with Gohan's Ultimate state in M13 & BoG? Do we at least see them powering-up at all before their fights? I'm asking because it works as a transformation in Dragon Ball Heroes for Goku, and if it really does, it would easily fix the inconsistency that Super Saiyan God causes with Oob in the manga....
No it wouldn't. Goku said he wanted to fight Uub at 100% in the manga, and still considered that a worthy fight. He also stated that fights aren't fun unless the true powers of the fighters are at least somewhat close.
Goku didn't go blue ssj so he wasn't 100%. If Goku however went from under Frieza in BOG to his SSJ3 power in base because the god power and the rest of the god power is the blue ssj form then that could work.

Stop trying to make this about sexism. It's quite pathetic as other male characters got sidelined for stupid reasons as well.

Summary presents the movie way better than the little snippets we've had before. However, I can see where some negative reactions came from - mainly the concern about non-existant plot. Indeed the movie seems to essentially be an extended training session for Goku & Vegeta without anything resembling an actual story. While interesting in itself (an elaborate training lecture), the ONLY way it will be worth anything is if it amounts to something in Movie #3. On itself, it just seems rather pointless. "Training" just can't be all there is to this entire new Beerus/Whis/Goku/Vegeta chapter, it's not good enough goal, no matter how much Toriyama is in love with this "training for the sake of training" concept. There has to be something more. Especially since Freeza's return most definitely seems pointless, he could've been replaced by virtually anyone else for the purpouse of teaching Goku/Vegeta an important training lesson. He's weaker than both and essentially a pushover, there are no stakes here and he wins solely by 'cheating' and he achieves nothing. Swallowing his pride to traing for the first time is not much of a villain arc, it doesn't really go anywhere.

As for Goku/Vegeta, it appears that they're presented as completly equal in power in this movie which is very nice yet at the same time quickly 'ruined' with Goku stealing the kill/win at the end. It's not even up to debate that it's a kill steal as even the movie itself makes it a point that it is lol. Once again, I hope this builds up to something because otherwise it just looks like pointless favouritism of Goku. Thematically it should've been Whis or Beerus killing Freeza (after time-reversal). Handing the win to Goku makes no sense as he, just like a Vegeta, made a huge mistake because of over-confidence. There is no reason for Whis/Beerus to give him 2nd chance.

Blue hair introduction is a joke, makes no sense in the context of BOG and essentially screams "we're just selling new toys". Not to mention that the design sucks. Fail on every level and something they really need to fix and make up for in Movie #3.

If ROF (along with BOG) leads to something big and worthy, I think the movie will defend itself a lot better and will make much more sense but as standalone, it doesn't seem to be very good. So I'm praying for a big payoff in Movie #3, they can't just left all they added lore-wise and power-level-wise in BOG and ROF and leave it at that just as "training". They've gone too far and since none of this builts up to EOZ, there's no way to go but big at this point.

But when he loses, that's when he undergoes development. His craftiness on Namek. His contemplation of and achievement of a new Super Saiyan form after losing to 18. Him finally showing that he cares about Trunks after Cell kills him. Him realizing what it will take to stop(?) Buu. His admission about Goku at the end of the Buu Arc. These are Vegeta's best showings, and they don't occur during his "badass" moments, they occur when he's hit rock bottom and has to actually move forward as a character to pull himself back out.
I completely agree with you, that's why most of my favorite moments with Vegeta which I listed was him losing (for most of time), yet it led to him having a beautiful character development and showing his geniune care for his loved ones, as well as his close friend and rival, Son Goku. His speech about Goku in the end of Buu arc was delightful as well, it showed the ending of his character development, as he admitted that Goku was better.

So I am perfectly fine with Vegeta fighting against Freeza, being it weakened, or not, in attempt to save the Earth. What I really have problems with is him not fighting against fresh Freeza when he actually had a chance to and was even given an offer from Goku, which he rejected... Because of being nervous. This just doesn't sound right. After all these years, he should have finally come to terms with what he really wanted and appreciated, and starting trying to defend it, despite how strong and fearful villain is, the same way as Goku always does it. So I didn't like him refusing to fight with Freeza, when he actually had a chance. I also appreciate him appearing and saving Goku, while deflecting Freeza's beam and giving Goku a senzu bean, after which beginning his fight with Freeza. But because of his overconfidence or should I better say... indiscretion, Freeza had a chance to act, and ended up destroying the Earth, with everything which Vegeta was trying to protect. And I won't pretend, that it never happened. It happened, so, while I appreciate Vegeta fighting for Earth, after Goku was not able to do so, I won't give him any props of being a victor, because in his overall aim, he failed. He didn't save the Earth, he didn't protect his loved ones, and he failed to destroy Freeza.
I only see it as a failure because he didn't get the opportunity to redeem himself. The point of Goku getting blasted by Sorbet and Vegeta getting the earth destroyed was to highlight their weaknesses. Goku was complimenting and talking with Frieza while he was fighting him, the failure is on both Goku and Vegeta. The only reason Goku kills Frieza is because of Whis' rewind. There is nothing wrong with Vegeta fans being happy about him thrashing Frieza and embarrassing him to the point where he has to resort to destroying the earth, it was a bitch move. I think the Vegeta fans who were arguing in favor of him felt like people were especially harsh on him considering that every fighter in the show has pretty much made the same mistake of not destroying an opponent when they should. Bottom line is that Vegeta did have a good moment in the movie, and Frieza just pretty much showed the coward that he is. I can't really comment on the whole 'nervous' thing until I see the movie for myself and see the context.

This could very well be the case.
I'd like to have had a cliffhanger ending, but if this is leading up to something genuinely more complex in a 3rd movie, the perspective on it looks better.

Maybe this movie was more of a set up. Seems like Goku and Vegeta are training in the whole movie. I wouldn't be shock if Whis was training them to kill Whis.

It would be interesting if the third movie was something really dark like Beerus and Whis dying, Goku would have his hand chopped and etc.

Mhmm. Not very Toriyama like but I can see Toriyama doing a swerve. Especially hints like "I'm a life form". I can't explain shit well but I have a theory that Whis is going to die by Vegeta and Goku hands.

From the looks of it, I think the movie will likely be on the same tier as Fusion Reborn and Broli Movie 1 where it's good but not great. I still look forward to watch the movie nevertheless.

It's not exactly new, an arm chopped off and two people dying already happened back in the Saiyan arc.

Regardless, it's a route I very much doubt any new DB material would take, since they're even censoring a beam through the chest.

Oh, yeah. You're right about that. :)

Dragon Ball movies can still be dark without having to be gory or excessively violent.

I agree. Excessive violence, though I don't mind if DB includes some, isn't needed to make a story good. I really dislike when manga or anime use gore as a really cheap form of transmitting despair.

Okay, up until now I had not read the entire synopsis because I was TRYING to hold out for spoilers but eh tonight I said what the hay and read it. Despite trying to avoid it I did read everyone's complaints and got the general gist of what happened. But after I read it I really don't see what everyone is so upset about. Touching on a few things I've seen brought up, to give my opinion... ...

1.) Vegeta fighting Freeza after Goku had already beat on him a bunch and thus making his "victory" lame:

This isn't really a big deal because honestly, Vegeta and Goku don't seem to be all that concerned with Freeza actually beating them. They seem to be concerned with who gets to be the one to kill Freeza. Freeza mentions something like, "this is the best part of the fight and it will be mine." Which means Vegeta just wants to be the one to kill Freeza. It's kind of like Yo! Son Goku, in that they are "fighting" over who gets to kill him. Which is kind of funny.

2.) Goku getting caught off-guard

I don't think this is a big deal either. It's not much different then when Majin Vegeta knocks Goku out. If Goku lets his guard down then it's quite possible for him to be taken out. I know this has been debated for several pages, but I don't see why. It's pretty simple and it's not really all that hard to accept. Goku has gotten so cocky, he assumed Freeza "Wouldn't want to fight" anymore once he saw the blue ssj god form.

3.) Goku stealing Vegeta's victory (or Whis allowing him to)

Goku laments he should have killed Freeza. But Whis is not "stealing" the victory from Vegeta. Whis is their teacher and is TEACHING Goku a lesson. It doesn't matter to him who gets the kill. Beerus and him are commenting on how they're both too proud. It doesn't matter who "gets to win" and that's part of their problem (the being too proud). But the one who needed a bigger lesson this time around was Goku. Vegeta didn't mess around really, it seems he was going to quickly end it but Freeza wanted to be lame and just blow everything up because he was gonna lose. You could say that Vegeta toyed with him too long maybe, but I think the main reason Whis gave Goku the chance is because Goku was the only one alive at the time and it would take too long to explain it to Vegeta. If they let events unfold the same way Freeza would have destroyed the Earth again since it seems Goku came back with just enough time to interrupt Vegeta about to kill him/Freeza about to destroy Earth. So really, it just works out that he got the victory...

But ultimately! Vegeta was awesome here! It's just funny that Goku stole the victory from him, like in Yo! Son Goku. Honestly I kind of enjoyed that haha.

4) Vegeta turning down the Golden Freeza fight

Some took this as Vegeta being afraid to fight. But since you can't really say until you see HOW Vegeta acts, it's just guessing. The summary says he does it nervously. But I think it's meant more like Vegeta thinks this golden form looks so ridiculously stupid... he doesn't even want to do it. It's kind of like how he doesn't want to hold Goku's hand to teleport. I mean, why would he be scared and 5 minutes later not scared at all?

On the flip-side. Let's say he WAS legitimately scared. Remember how scared Vegeta was of Freeza's different forms during the Freeza arc? He was terrified. He used to see this guy kill everyone with power that was enormous compared to anyone else. It would make sense that a NEW form would bring back those memories and trigger something in Vegeta that would make him think twice. Then again, Goku also seems to think that blue SSJ God is more then a match for him and if Vegeta can do it too why would he have been scared? Which makes me go back to thinking Vegeta just thought his new form was stupid and embarrassing. Like he was embarrassed FOR Freeza.

All in all I actually liked the summary a lot. People keep saying this is like a TOEI movie... but all those interactions during the fight are NOT at ALL what TOEI would do. Those are absolutely Toriyama flavor. I'm actually more excited now to see it. I know before I really wanted it to be a more serious-tone with Freeza being an actual threat. But now that I know more of what's going on, I think it's okay. Freeza WAS a threat and they didn't appreciate how much of one he was. That's why he managed to beat both of them "Technically" even though he ultimately loses.

OHHHH! And one more thing! I am actually kind of happy at how this movie sort of ties into Toriyama new manga ending. Remember how in the new manga ending it has that little panel of Vegeta saying one day he WILL defeat Kakarot? And everyone was all upset because it didn't make sense considering he had just admitted that "Goku was No. 1!" Well, Vegeta spells it out here. He still finds him annoying, respects him though and knows he is the best. But he still wants to be able to say he defeated him. It's still a goal. Vegeta can admit he is better, but it doesn't mean he has to give up the goal to be the best and best Goku. This makes it more clear and makes that ending more okay with me.

Now I kind of hope the third movie BEGINS with the NEW ending of the manga where Goku gives Uub Nimbus and Vegeta swears he is going to defeat him. It'd be cool because then we'd get to see what happens AFTER the end instead of between chapters and it would tie all this together. I'd love to see a new threat appear and Beerus/Whis get involved and Goku have to sort of deal with Uub helping even though he hasn't had time to train him much yet. It'd be nice if they threw in blue ssj god and all that just to make it clear that even though the manga ending played out like it did before, they were still capable of the form... it just wasn't shown. The more I think about it the more I really want them to do something like that.

Ew, that would just make Goku look even more weak than he already is. I would rather have him go around sneezing galaxies than getting his hand cut off. The main reason why i hated android saga was because it was too realistic, Goku shouldnt have died from a Heart virus that was a pathetic BS plot hole which makes no sense when even a senzu bean or dragon balls couldnt cure it. reminds of poor writing how this movie will share the same fate.

If I had to say one thing I didn't like... it's that apparently we don't get to see Freeza's training. Which I really think should have been part of it. You know, they could have gotten REALLY creative with this movie and shown it more from the villains point of view. Sort of giving him the main character status and exploring his character. In other words, show the hard work Freeza is going to in his effort to get his revenge... sort of like how we get to see Goku putting forth effort in training before we ultimately see how impressive he has become afterward during a real fight.

In that way, they could have done the same story but given some depth to Freeza. It would have also given time to explain more about how he was able to get so strong in 4 months... they could have brought up things about his race and gave more legitimacy to the quick gains he received in his training. Could have told the exact same story that way but made it better. Maybe an extended cut will have something like that in there somewhere..... maybe... :?: :?:

I think I may be looking forward more to the extended cut of this (if we get one) than the extended cut for BOG; since it feels like there's a lot more they could touch on for F that wasn't in here (I too would like to see Freeza's training montage--maybe wearing a Rocky-type grey sweatsuit too, and some more Gokû and Vegeta friendship antics).
