As always, I apologize if this has already been discussed.
So it's my understanding that according to Xenoverse, Time Patrol Trunks is the same Future Trunks we all know and love. There's a bit of dialogue where the Supreme Kai of Time says she's employed the Time Patrol to fix all distortions in time, and thus return the number of timelines back to just one.
So if I understand correctly, Trunks is now fighting for Supreme Kai of Time to destroy all that he fought so hard to protect. I haven't finished the game yet, but is this ever addressed?

Question about Future Trunks and his timeline
"Hey girlfriend, why don't you throw a few more punches? Afraid you might break a nail or somethin?"

Re: Question about Future Trunks and his timeline
Do you remember where the bit about returning the timelines down to one thing was said, as I don't remember the end of that particular statement.
That said, it seems contradictory to the rest of the game. They're goal is to prevent more unnecessary timelines from being created. Even when the baddies are jumping from the "main" timeline to Trunks' timeline and then back to the main one again, there is never dialogue suggesting they need to eradicate one of them.

I think it was when Trunks introduces you to Supreme Kai of Time. She says the goal is to reduce the number of timelines back to just one.

Re: Question about Future Trunks and his timeline
I just watched that cutscene and there was nothing about it. Was it one of the supplemental things you get out of talking to them afterward?
Regardless of if it was intended to be in or some kind of mistake on the Japanese side or a botched English translation (of which there are many), it doesn't jive with the rest of the game. From what I remember scrounging through, there is zero other dialogue about potentially destroying timelines besides the villains possibly destroying the universe by filling up the Time Storage Vault or the Time Patrol needing to to keep the Time Fragments (Parallel Quests) in check.
