Quality of Discussion on Kanzenshuu Going Downhill?
Re: Quality of Discussion on Kanzenshuu Going Downhill?
There have been some pretty annoying moments, but overall it's still maintaining much better than any other outside discussion arena for this subject. And yes, it mostly has just been in the one thread. More than anything else, I'm amazed by the general level of rage going on over the movie synopsis. I do not recall this level of negativity being levelled toward Battle of Gods.

For myself, I felt that discussion was getting better since the announcement of the release of BoG. However, I have made sure not to go to the movie threads once the synopsis was going to be talked about on the thread the day before it happens. So, outside the movie threads for both films I haven't really seen this problem of poor discussion going on until after I see the film, and by then, the discussion has quieted down a lot. So, I have not been on the FnF thread as of late and I have not seen the current situation in that thread.
However, I do feel that after I have written a very lengthy post, it gets ignored by the whole thread, especially if an off topic argument is going on at the same time. The people not involved in the argument will ignore my on topic post and instead, throw themselves into the off topic fight. It happens every single time. Are my posts unwanted? I honestly feel that my posts are not valued in the least.
Excuse my grammar since I'm writing this on my phone and it is difficult to correct until I get on my computer, where I'll go back to my posts and correct them! I miss the mods correcting even the slightest grammar mistakes like they use to do in 2010.
I have read many unintelligible posts where the grammar is all over the place and is very difficult to understand what the poster is talking about.
Again, pardon this post if there are mistakes, it is written on my phone. I'll correct it as best I can at the moment.

This post was on the verge of meeting a bit of an ironic fate, wasn't it?Attitudefan wrote: However, I do feel that after I have written a very lengthy post, it gets ignored by the whole thread, especially if an off topic argument is going on at the same time. Yeah, that's happened to me a few times as well and it can feel like people aren't reading your posts; particularly in large threads, such as the movie ones. Very often it'll happen as a result of ending up at the bottom of the page, but I've also drawn the conclusion that people simply don't have a response to what's been written. They don't disagree with what's been said, they don't have anything to say on any points of discussion, so it's not really worth replying. I think it's probably for the better, otherwise we'd be seeing more forced, one-line responses that don't really contribute anything.

That's true. And yes, it was on the verge but I didn't mean it to be that way, just as an anecdote on my feelings of what's been happening. It was not a question to be answered but to sympathize with.DragonBoxZTheMovies wrote:This post was on the verge of meeting a bit of an ironic fate, wasn't it?Attitudefan wrote: However, I do feel that after I have written a very lengthy post, it gets ignored by the whole thread, especially if an off topic argument is going on at the same time. But you have a fair point, and maybe I give people too much credit seeing that I am expecting people to write a lot on everything, when that's just not realistic.
But at the same time I think the post remains clear. More and more do I notice less Kanzenshuu like threads and more casual ones cropping up that don't entice discussion at all.

I think this rings true as a general rule in any open discussion forum. I've adjusted, over the few years I've been here, to just not putting all of my thoughts out there until I know there's some kind of audience for that. Consequently, most of my talks about Dragon Ball happened with 1 or 2 friends in private. I suppose that's why I disappear for about 8 months at a time around here.Attitudefan wrote:However, I do feel that after I have written a very lengthy post, it gets ignored by the whole thread, especially if an off topic argument is going on at the same time. Worst thing is when something like that happens after an on-topic post is written before an argument between two others even begins! I don't even know how that can even happen.Duo wrote:I think this rings true as a general rule in any open discussion forum. Another thing is things could become like what you see on Youtube or lead you into arguments that exhaust you. They don't disagree with what's been said, they don't have anything to say on any points of discussion, so it's not really worth replying. I think it's probably for the better, otherwise we'd be seeing more forced, one-line responses that don't really contribute anything.

Goken's posts have never really bothered me, though I have been away for awhile; but I'd suggest maybe joining Twitter since that's where a good deal of us chat in a more casual manner. And things like spam posts are slightly more tolerated. And of course there's no threads, so you can be as random as you want. In fact I believe that we should make Twitter the default suggestion for people who want an off topic section.
