Fans who pretend that the manga was an amazingly consistent masterpiece of art and all of the "inconsistencies" in the new movies means they don't belong in the continuity.

And those that don't acknowledge the inconsistencies in the modern movies that retcon established plot points in the manga/anime series piss me off.

It's probably there to maintain consistency and not confuse people.rereboy wrote:Also, I really hate the name filters of this forum. People should be allowed to write whatever name they want. It's pretty much censorship.

This always seemed weird to me because if anything it has been a pretty big source of confusion for newer posters. And it only filters out well known versions of the names, not weird shit like Cachalot for Goku's Saiyan name.UpFromTheSkies wrote:It's probably there to maintain consistency and not confuse people.rereboy wrote:Also, I really hate the name filters of this forum. When people insult the Kai dub and say the old funimation dub was better, especially when they say they prefer Young to Ayres.
Re: What phrases/opinions/things bring out your irate fanboy
Phrases like "Planet/Solar System/Galaxy Busting". Any kind of "Busting" in relation to power talks. They don't really make me irate...but, I just don't see the point.

But it doesn't matter if something fits or not. Creators decide what is canon, and what is not, regardless from it fitting or not.Dyno wrote:That surely applies for the opposite people, like: "Episode of Bardock is totally non-canon. Toriyama was not involved and its story does not fit at all".SingleFringe&Sparks wrote:-People who speak for Toriyma just to try and justify their own preferences. Oh, on topic (and honestly not taking a dig at anyone here): using the 300x gravity filler scene to try and make Yamcha look good. It doesn't make me irate, but I do find it really sad. It's just... not a good scene for him no matter how you look at it. It's not impressive at all, that he didn't die instantly.
The most important thing shown in the scene is that Yamcha has no fucking idea of his own limits, and is seriously overconfident. It's pretty much completely impossible to make him look good from that, saying "oh well it's impressive he didn't die from it" just shows how foolish he was to attempt that.
That's not that it's a bad scene for him - it could have been some great set up for some character development where he learns some humility, if not for the fact that Toei just ignore it from that point - but it certainly doesn't show anything good about him.

All they do is make posts confusing since many posts are precisely talking about the differences in the names, irritate the posters and seem like there's enforced censorship on the forum.UpFromTheSkies wrote:It's probably there to maintain consistency and not confuse people.rereboy wrote:Also, I really hate the name filters of this forum. Goku was on a verge of dying while training as well, hence why he got a lot of Zenkais. Don't see any problems at all. Toei didn't ignore anything, it is Toriyama who didn't even bother trying to come up with some development for Yamcha.Saiga wrote:Oh, on topic (and honestly not taking a dig at anyone here): using the 300x gravity filler scene to try and make Yamcha look good. And yes, Toei ignored something - the filler they themselves created. They never followed up on it after that, even though it could have made for some decent filler further on.
Yamcha didn't really need more development in the manga, but it could have made for some decent filler.

Goku was on a verge of dying while training in gravity chamber, but he didn't look bad. And so didn't Vegeta. Why Yamcha should look bad?
Toei can't develope everything the way they want to. They highly depend on manga, if mangaka chooses to kill a character/make him useless, then Toei does the same. There was no time/no place to follow it up as well.
It would have been totally out of place later in the story. The story was about saiyans, and frankly much of them didn't matter either.

The name filters, as far as I understand, was put into place over 10 years ago in order to maintain consistency of terminology between fans from all over the world. Kanzenshuu maintains an international audience.rereboy wrote:Censorship
Beyond that, it's their message board. They can put name filters in place if they want and there is nothing wrong with that. It's not censorship insofar that they aren't suppressing certain idea's or thoughts. Just a handful of terms that aren't accurate the majority of versions of Dragon Ball.
Re: What phrases/opinions/things bring out your irate fanboy
They are trying to suppress the use of certain names. And whatever advantages might come out of it are far outweighed by the irritation it inflicts upon the posters, the confusion it creates when people are talking about the different names in a topic (since the posters can't freely demonstrate what the name they are talking about is and how it reads) and the appearance of enforced censoring on the forum, since this is literally the only forum I've participated that has serious and long lasting use of name filters and that fact doesn't impress me positively.Duo wrote:

The justification for them (aka consistency) is also flimsy at best, since how does replacing H-e-r-c-u-l-e with "the H-word" promote consistency regarding the character's name? If that's the point, it should replace it with Mr. Satan. And why should there be consistency enforced on that level? H-e-r-c-u-l-e is an official name for the character even of it's not the original, why should it be censored in all situations?
And yes, its their forum and they do what they like with it, but that doesn't make them immune to criticism, nor it should.

How many planets could a planet buster bust if a planet buster could bust planets?Gaffer Tape wrote:Yeah, anything "-busting" and mentions of "zenkai" both make me want to tear my hair out.Big Momma wrote:Phrases like "Planet/Solar System/Galaxy Busting". I'm just curious about when the "busting" terminology comes into play. You see it for the high end stuff, like galaxy and solar system busting, which makes no sense anyway since those aren't solid masses, and for smaller stuff like planets and cities and islands. Where do you draw the line?
Obviously, Hannibal Lecter is a people buster. I suppose Jack Black's character from Anchorman could be a Puppy Buster, but Baxter lives, so it's not confirmed. Power scaling would imply that Hulk Hogan could definitely be a puppy buster, but that leads to speculation, which I don't like for my busting feats.

Those terms are just used to differentiate between very different classes of power and only serve as an indicator.Kamiccolo9 wrote: How many planets could a planet buster bust if a planet buster could bust planets?

For example, if a character has destructive capabilities that could destroy a continent, but not something larger than that, like a planet, that character would be consider a continent buster, while a character capable of destroying a planet would be a planet buster. Obviously there are planets and continents of different sizes but the term is only used to quickly establish and differentiate classes of power for quick comparisons.
It's very easy to get and very easy to use and that is its purpose.
The website vsbattles.wikia.com uses similar terms in a effective manner in their character tiering, which exemplifies their use. Their scale for character tiering is this and I believe that it actually is very satisfactory in clarifying doubts:
Spoiler:
According to that wiki, Goku is considered, nowadays, to be at Tier: 4-B (Solar System level).

I can understand: I grew up with Faulconer too and I like his flashback theme and a lot of his Buu themes, but it's just when people insult Kikuchi that it gets to me.Dbzfan94 wrote:
Dub voices and line changes aside, even though I'm a dub fan I love Kikuchi. Perfect for DB and from what I've seen of Z Kikuchi (1-67) that's amazing too. I just like Faulconer too much to not switch over at ep 68. It does get wall to wall and it can get annoying, but I still love the tracks.
For those dub themes you listed, I know the 4kids OP rap is shitty, but I have so much nostalgia for it, I cant really hate it lol. The DP rap though? The XY remix of the original song isn't great, but it's not bad either. it can never live up to the original 4kids Pokémon opening though. (Say what you want about 4kids, they got Pokémon right...besides that whole riceball/doughnut thing.) And...the GT rap...

I can't stand 4Kids' OP in general (easily the worst dub the company ever did), but I can understand. (I much preferred 4Kids' Pokemon over TPCi's Pokemon, no question about that, I agree with you: their Johto Remix was much better than the XY Remix, too, IMO.) IKR.
