Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection 'F'"
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection '
The only thing in movie I want to see now is how Vegeta gets his moment or how he humiliates Frieza. That's it.

His moment plus other parts of the movie are written here :SSJGBGoku wrote:The only thing in movie I want to see now is how Vegeta gets his moment or how he humiliates Freeza. That's it.

If you don't know what it is then it'll be better to see it before reading about it.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Went and looked at the differences between the short and long summaries for BOG; I definitely feel the detailed summary for F will be encouraging, at least, imo. There's a lot that's not in the short BOG summary that's in the long one.

Also, SaiyaJedi did say the character interactions did not come across well in the summary and he did say they were one of the best things about the movie. Me, personally I will probably savour them for the movie and not read the detailed summary.Chuquita wrote:Went and looked at the differences between the short and long summaries for BOG; I definitely feel the detailed summary for F will be encouraging, at least, imo. Character interactions (especially between Gokû and Vegeta) are favorite parts of this series. They could save this movie for me (because I'm still kinda disappointed in the lack of threat/consequences).Baggie_Saiyan wrote:Also, SaiyaJedi did say the character interactions did not come across well in the summary and he did say they were one of the best things about the movie. Go go "Movie 12: Part 2" in regards to Gokû and Vegeta!

In a world where a magic dragon can undo the deaths of billions and the destruction of a planet, consequences do take quite the beating, but that came long before this movie.
Hell, I'm glad they resolved the Earth's destruction in a unique way compared to the norm, because relying on the Dragon Balls to resolve every single problem was getting to be a bit much (and at least Whis' ability has that three minute limit, so if he's not there, it can't really be abused, whereas a Dragon on the other side of the galaxy can just say "Sure, I got this").

I have to agree. I feel Whis' ability being the the twist to help obtain victory is a welcome addition to the film; a breath of fresh air. I'm not saying it isn't cliche or anything, but it's just REALLY nice to have something other than the old traditional deus ex machina of "let shit happen, the Dragon Balls will fix it later".
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2015 Movie Thread: "Resurrection '
Getting the DBs at least takes some very small bit of effort and has some potential risks to it like its maker dying, rendering them useless or a bad guy killing the dragon which would accomplish the same thing. Good f*cking luck doing that to Whis, hell since in this universe 5 minutes last about 20 episodes worth of time, his limit might as well not exist. It's a really, really awful story choice but then again, this was Toriyama's prime directive while writing this.Mewzard wrote:In a world where a magic dragon can undo the deaths of billions and the destruction of a planet, consequences do take quite the beating, but that came long before this movie.

Now, how much time does it need to create a new timeline? Because, well... "Logic" teaches us that whatever you do differently, a new timeline is born right away, but nor even that logic applies anymore. So by how much Wiss need to turn back in time to create a new timeline?

I wish the dragon balls would just shatter, New Namek would explode, and Whis turned out to be a bad guy just so there'd actually be a sense of tragedy and threat.
...
...Wait, no, if it takes place before EoZ, we know everything turns out fine at the end...-.-
In the Cell saga, an entire reality was ruined and stayed that way. Sure, several plot holes there, but still. Also, Bardock and Planet Vegeta. I miss that.

Xenoverse says poorly designed, primitive time machines are the cause for split timelines. So Whis will never create one with his his time rewind ability, the same way Towa and Demigra don't with their own time travel abilities.Dyno wrote:Now, how much time does it need to create a new timeline? Sweet. Then can it be the same way Bardock's time travel?TheDevilsCorpse wrote:Xenoverse says poorly designed, primitive time machines are the cause for split timelines. In XV a rift in time snatches him away and brings him & Broly to Namek then to Earth. We don't see what happens after that (its implied Trunks puts them all back in their real places) but no, it doesn't explain his dumb time travel in the Episode of Bardock OVA at all.Dyno wrote:Sweet. SingleFringe&Sparks wrote:Granted, that the Earth blowing up or the same people dying over and over again is just cliched to the point of desensitization - but thats why I liked the Black Star balls idea in GT. They had that consequence, Goku tried to justify it but realized he was in the wrong for once. That over relying on the balls destroys them and at least that would have to force the heroes to be more careful with things, instead of just giving the balls out like candy at a bingo party.Piririn wrote:This movie has made it so that there's no chance for real danger/drama in any future movie either. If the Earth being destroyed and everybody dying is no big deal anymore, that what could possibly be at stake in the next movie?
You know, for all the shit I give to GT, even I have to accept that the concept of the DBs having some sort of consequence was a very good idea. I just hated the way they handled it.
I mean... Whis' 3 minute limit is actually pretty good and doesn't seem too outlandish for a being at a "god level". I would like for Beerus and/or Whis to point out, just like Elder Kai did before, that they shouldn't use the power of the dragon balls just like that.
This is my idea:
The way I would do it is to say that it is not their Universe's natural balance the one that gets fucked, but some of the other 11 universes. As if it pulls from the fabric of their reality to grant those wishes. That might attract people/gods from those places to actually come to put a stop to them because it has caused one or several great catastrophes.

Still possible. It is not that he is some good guy, he is a master of a guy who destroys countless planets, being it for balance or not.fadeddreams5 wrote:And Whis turned out to be a bad guy just so there'd actually be a sense of tragedy and threat.

That's because *default response*: he is prodigy. And nothing is dumber than Movie 15 (except the antagonist of the movies 8, 10 and 11).ekrolo2 wrote:no, it doesn't explain his dumb time travel in the Episode of Bardock OVA at all.

Goku is dumber. He still didn't learn that the threat should be handled fast, and that it is just overly stupid to lower your guard during the fight.Dyno wrote:That's because *default response*: he is prodigy. I don't really see anything dumb about Resurrection F that hasn't been done before and done even dumber. I mean Dragon Ball as a whole relies on somewhat dumb logic, but that is part of its charm.Dyno wrote:That's because *default response*: he is prodigy. Don't get me wrong, that "dumb" aspect is indeed part of its charm and it is a positive thing/point, I agree.Lord Beerus wrote:I don't really see anything dumb about Resurrection F that hasn't been done before and done even dumber. I mean Dragon Ball as a whole relies on somewhat dumb logic, but that is part of its charm.
But there is the negative point of the same word and they are:
- Leave out Son Goten, Trunks, Majin Buu, Mark and Yamcha for the sake of nothing, under the most idiotic reason.
- Alternate Freeza's fourth form to a mere gold and nothing more.
- More character development for those who don't need any more of it, while Tights was poorly forgotten. And I think I could add Bardock and Gine as well, since King Vegeta appeared surprisingly in the last movie, both characters could somehow make their appearance here as well.
- For now, I'm totally neutral. But I really hope this "blue" Super Saiyan indeed works/had worked and I hope this is the last time we get a new transformation, because going even further would lead to a team of Power Rangers/rainbow, and that would make even Super Saiyan God dumb (Not regular Super Saiyan because it exists over two decades and it remained as the unique color since then).
None of these aspect I mentioned occured before.
But then, we got Freeza once again, yet again... That happened before indeed, and that's why it helps for it to be dumb.

Golden Frieza isn't just a palette swap. I agree Toriyama and Toei's versions of him are ugly though. Xenoverse's Golden Frieza looks awesome.Dyno wrote: - Alternate Freeza's fourth form to a mere gold and nothing more.
Spoiler:
Both of those characters are dead, should remain dead, and are completely irrelevant to everything. King Vegeta's appearance in BoG was pointless and unnecessary enough as it was.And I think I could add Bardock and Gine as well, since King Vegeta appeared surprisingly in the last movie, both characters could somehow make their appearance here as well.
