Well I'd say they should still abandon the lightheartedness when it comes to that. Heck, even Beerus was detailed and looked intimidating when he's pissed. Okay, how about if I simplified it.MCDaveG wrote:That's too much dark and heavy to be Dragon Ball manEXBadguy wrote:I want the remaining eleven gods to be inspired to something
2nd God: Kratos inspired tragic antihero with a reason to become strong. He uses wind and water to fight and is a very intellectual strategist.
3rd God: A humanoid god that is a Shao Kahn lookalike. He has a psychotic mentality, but has morals. He doesn't use ki at all. Only hand to hand combat and hammer.
4th: A female god that is a fusion of Medussa and Orochimaru that looks old and uses her tongue and snakes to fight. She can also transform to a giant King Cobra.
5th: Another humanoid god. A fusion of regular Devil May Cry Dante and the reboot Dante. He can be laid back, but can cuss you out if you piss him off. He smokes a cigarrette, wields a katana to fight, and use telekinesis and psychokinesis as his main ki.
6th: A god inspired by God of War's Zeus. Uses lightning and can transform to a giant. He can be a villain.
7th: Kotal Kahn aztec lookalike that has a neutral alignment. He gets along with most gods(excluding the 3rd God), has a chainsaw-like sword, and uses earth as his special technique.
8th: A humanoid god that's a Sol Badguy lookalike with a lazy-like attitude and a very young look and physique. But he can be fast as lightning and his punches and kicks are made out of dynamite, sorta like (the H-word)'s dynamite kick in the Budokai games. He is known as the fastest god of the galaxy.
9th: A god that can look like a combination of Jason Vorhees and Nelo Angelo from Devil May Cry 1. He has a neutral alignment like the 7th god and wields a Zweilhander that can have dark energy imbued and can transform to a halberd-like axe.
10th: A black frail humanoid lady that can control the weather to fight. She has a sweet personality. She also has a demon transformation and can use a fusion of lightning, fire, and ki to fight.
11th: The strongest god that has looks and physique similar to Nappa, but has long curly hair. He can be buff, but can have regal clothes. He can use all of the Japanese classical elements, has a unique fighting style that is a combination between Goku's and Brolys, and has a final transformation, which has bigger muscles, LSSJ Broly's hair, but sharp and black, darker skin, sharp fang teeth, and a satan-like physique with cool wings. He'll be one of the strongest fighters Goku has ever faced.![]()
But I would like something like this Saint Seiya like. The series heads towards the Olympian Gods longer than I am alive and I wonder, if I'll ever see the climax.
1st God: Pale skin alien
2nd God: Shao Kahn humanoid
3rd God: A snake skinned female serpentine
4th God: Humanoid samurai swordsman
5th God: Dark skinned alien Zeus
6th God: Kotal Kahn lookalike
7th God: A sphinx(which is Beerus)
8th God: A fast humanoid one
9th God: A demon with smooth looking face and a zweilhander swordsman
10th God:A lighthearted Kai(Whis)
11th God: A black frail woman humanoid
12th and Strongest: A muscular Neptune inspired humanoid that has an ultimate demon transformation
You can't sit here and say that some of the concepts won't work, cuz there were some mythology inspired designs in Dragon Ball, even Beerus is based as one. Sure, you can disagree, but still, DB did have some of those inspirations.
EDIT: Had to switch some spots, cuz I forgot that Beerus is the seventh strongest god.

Too bad Beerus doesn't fit the Chinese Zodiac bill like the others. He should be a horse. lol.

I agree with Doctor on this one. I give credit for creativity but at the end of the day, those sort of styles just doesn't feel like Dragon Ball. It seems more like the sort of character design you would see in Inuyasha, YuYu Hakusho or Fairy Tail.Doctor. wrote:Except Beerus and the Monkey King one, they don't really look like Dragon Ball designs to me.fadeddreams5 wrote:That fanart is awesome.FortuneSSJ wrote:This is a fanart example, but pretty much shows what I want.I just want to see more interesting Gods Duo like Beerus and Whis. There are a few of the god desgins in the fanart that I don't like either, but if that god fanart's not "Dragon Ball" like, then what is? Is it just some simple dudes claiming themselves as gods or a designs similar to those stupid hell angels with no details? Again, I say, Beerus's design wasn't even that simple.

I think if they do a Atlantean theme god then I would like to see a Shark character. Beerus is pretty much a cat, so a water them god could be a marine animal like a Shark or Whale.

I'd argue the dragon works with DB as well: it's clearly a hybrid of Piccolo, Akuman and Cooler's final form. The rooster also looks like it was inspired by a hybrid of Upa (adult) and Captain Chicken. I agree about the rest, though.Lord Beerus wrote:I agree with Doctor on this one. Re: 12 Universes Discussion Thread
I feel like that they all fit in the DB universe pretty well. The demon god looks like a character would fit well with Dabra in the Demon realm. The Wolf fighter looks like someone from the After Life Tenkachi Budokai from the DBZ anime. It's not like the gods look like something from H.R Giger's imagination. Having a different character design style from everyone else is not always a bad thing. It's good have different varieties of character art designs in the franchise.Lord Beerus wrote: I agree with Doctor on this one. I don't get how the Purple Demon does not fit? Put him next to Janemba and Dabra, he fits next to them just fine. I do think Dragon Ball needs more demonic villains.

Re: 12 Universes Discussion Thread
I think alternate universes still count as part of the greater Universe 7. I'm pretty sure that Beerus said there were 12 universes each with its own God of Destruction. When Trunks or Cell went back in time they only affected the Earth so Beerus should still the God of Destruction in the Trunks's timeline and the timeline that Cell stole his time machine. I think each of the 12 universes is a completely different fictional universes with its own unique God of Destruction.KameRule wrote:Crazy thought; what if the multiple universe thing refers to alternate universes discovered via time-travel? Is Mirai Trunks from one of these universes? Is Cell from another universe?

I saw this somewhere on Deviantart forgot where. It would be interesting if the 12 God of Destruction were based on the 12 Zodiac animals. There's a tiger but I guess Beerus being a cat is close enough.

The big Blue Ox God seems to be inspire by Super 13's design since they have a similar color design. He does look like a original Toei creation then one from Toriyama but I can still see him fit into the DB universe.

Re: 12 Universes Discussion Thread
"The concept of a multiverse is nothing new, especially when it involves 7 or 12 universes (which is most likely why the DB Universe is Universe 7 out of 12). Where do you think Marvel and DC got the idea from?"
Originally for DC it was Earth 1 and Earth 2. One contained the Justice Society and the other, The Justice League. That's it.
Having read Thor/Journey Into Mystery , Kirby and Stan Lee never mention other universes. They are all part of the same universe. There are realms like the Realm of the Trolls and The Frost Giants but the multiverse does not appear in the early comics. I'm not even sure the Vikings thought of realms as universes since the concept probably didn't exist at the time. It wasn't until much later that actual whole other universes appear in Marvel. It might be construed that with all the time travel and time alteration stories that that is where this all started as well as the corporate decision to not permanently kill off characters that we get the multiverse mess. The concept might have appeared in Science Fiction or Fantasy stories but I'm not sure where (this would be in stories that predate Star Trek for example, so prior to the mid 1960s)..,

Re: 12 Universes Discussion Thread
Fantasies and mythologies have been using the multiversal concepts for thousands of years. While it's true that the root word for "universe" was invented by Titus Lucretius Carus (who war born in 99 BC), these stories pre-date his birth by a heck of a long time. Alternate realities and realms ARE universes. What you're trying to argue as an invention of Marvel's is just their interpretation of the idea of a maxiverse (miniature multiverses existing within a larger multiverse).dougo13 wrote:"The concept of a multiverse is nothing new, especially when it involves 7 or 12 universes (which is most likely why the DB Universe is Universe 7 out of 12). Also, you're info on DC is wrong. Originally, it was just one continuity (later retconned into being identified as Earth 2). There were mirror universes explored several times (mostly by Wonder Woman), it's just that they came up with the idea of their personal multiverse as of the classic "Flash of Two Worlds" story.

Re: 12 Universes Discussion Thread
It would be nice to have different gods in the series. the problem is how are you going to create all of them? they need to have a plot, they need to have their own background, and they need to have their own unique character. The only way it would work is if Toriyama decided to spend his time creating 11 gods completely from scratch thru his own image which i highly doubt would happen. If Beerus was inspired by the Egyptian cat god which is from ancient Egypt mythology then it would much better to use borrowed gods from real world, like lucifer the morning star, jehovah, ares, kronos, zeus etc

They dont look very multiversal either. They look more like a typical budokai tournament competitors from original dragon ball than an actual gods.
