It was during the RR arc, I believe.

It was from the fight of Major Metallitron and Goku in Muscle Tower.

This one:

This happened in episode 36 of the Dragon Ball anime when Major Metallitron uses his 3D Scan Mode on Goku.

Well, If RF does as well as or better than BoG I think that will more or less confirms a third film will happen. I have a feeling RF will do really well.

Resurrection F will make a crap load of money internationally, I know that much. Freeza is most popular DB villain in the west and whole idea of seeing him return, and on the big screen no less, is more than enough of a reason for many hardcore fans to shell out to see the movie.

Well, not to get it off-topic, but I watched a random episode these past days, and it was when Kakarot was fighting against Piccolo Daimaoh (King Piccolo for one's pleasure...), I forgot Kakarot himself wonders if he is indeed a human... I can't remember if he says something like that in the manga as well.

Only time it's biological was Oozaru that's it. No one going watch this movie and say "Wow such a biology lesson we learn about Freeza! He can transform! Science".

Who the hell used DB wiki terms? PTO? The mutant term? I got that from a Toriyama interview on this very website.
No just no. Not everyone can transform. Freeza just surpassed his limits with training and found a new transformation in him. This makes it that not only Freeza can make forms to suppress himself but he can also make forms to power himself up even more. Of course no one is going to say "Wow such a biology lesson we learn about Freeza! He can transform! Science". That's just ridiculous. But it's still expanding on what we know about Freeza.
What we know about Freeza is that he transforms. In this movie he transforms again. Wow such an expansion. It's like SSJ2 and SSJ3 being considered expansion on the Saiyan race. It's not. It's a transformation because when you get strong you transform. And yes if Toriyama one day decides that humans can go Ultra Human then it'll happen. Anyone can transform. Cell transform by dying. It's like not a new concept bro.
I'm fairly certain "Planet Trade Organization" is a fan term.

We know that Freeza is able to transform his body. However, he transforms to weaken himself. His "final form" is actually his true form. We have never seen Freeza transform to actually increase his strength. We see Coola do this, and Coola was indeed designed (drawn) by Toriyama, but this ability has never been shown in an original Toriyama work. I completely disagree with you saying Super Saiyan 2 and 3 are not an expansion of the Saiyan race. Obviously transformations aren't unique in Dragon Ball, but this type of transformation is new to Freeza.
rereboy wrote: But my point wasn't that, my point was just to stress how Rocketman's post had a very valid point regarding Movie 12 and this new movie.

And there's various reasons for why they wouldn't try to revive him, actually. Freeza was a tyrant who killed his own men many times, and they obviously don't want that. They just needed someone very strong at the helm of the empire so that the empire was strong and unchallenged again and getting back Freeza was what they come up with... So, why not focus on making some of their soldiers very strong instead of getting Freeza back? Apparently they managed to have a soldier who could rival Piccolo, so, as long as they left Earth alone they could rule the universe just like in Freeza's day. They even suggested to Freeza to leave the Earthlings be, so they obviously weren't interested in getting revenge on Earth.
I still don't see how the comparison is valid. The circumstances, developments, and outcomes of the two instances are completely different.

Yes, Freeza is a horrible guy, and while many are forced to work for him, there are many that benefit from his reign. Sorbet wanted the empire to return to its former glory, so the only way that was possible was through the revival of Freeza. Apparently Shisame wasn't sufficient in suppressing rebellion, otherwise they wouldn't have needed Freeza. You would have liked them to power up someone else...how? Shen Long cannot grant that ability, and regular training methods are clearly not enough.

Why would there be? The film hasn't even been properly released anywhere yet.

The earliest indications that there would be a sequel to Battle of Gods came, if I recall correctly, in that interview Toriyama did last Summer where he mooted the idea of giving Vegeta a bigger role if there was another Dragonball Z film, which was later given a little bit of momentum by stuff that Nozawa hinted at (saying something along the lines of 'if there's another Dragonball Z movie...') during some American convention appearances.

It's faaaaaaaaar too early to even be having these conversations in any case.

I think they're talking about content in the film. Battle of Gods set up the 12 universes, Beerus saying he'd come back in a few years, and Goku learning he could tap into Godly ki. This film didn't seem leave any new questions lingering.

Actually, he would. To rival Piccolo he has to be WAY stronger than Freeza was on Namek, so that's pretty much a plothole.

As for them powering up, so many options... Their scientists were able to create cybernetics that were a suitable replacement for Freeza's body. And the tech available to them was demonstrated to be far more advanced than Earth's tech in the Saiyan saga, and they can't come up with armament and ways to improve their soldiers? Not even tech to train their soldiers? They don't even need something that can make them beat SSJs, like Dr. Gero did, just a way to put one soldier at 500.000 in power level, and some guys at Ginyu force levels, and they would be at the same exact top strength that they had when Freeza was in power during Namek since Freeza never used his second form.

Not to mention that they had DECADES to do this.

Actually, what they needed was someone very strong to do Freeza's job, not Freeza himself. Someone as strong as Freeza but that was nicer to them would actually be much better for them than Freeza. They just chose to revive Freeza because they couldn't figure out another way to keep their empire (even thought they have soldiers as strong as Piccolo  ).
batistabus wrote: I still don't see how the comparison is valid. The circumstances, developments, and outcomes of the two instances are completely different.
It's valid because all the points you said that this movie did regarding Freeza, that movie had already pretty much done it, only without an excuse for Freeza to be way stronger so that he could last longer. That was Rocketman's point.

To reference another series, we learned about Gourmet World in Toriko fairly early on, yet outside of one or two quick tastes, we didn't get to see much of it until in the early to mid 20s volume-wise. Or like in Saint Seiya, where the Holy War that occurred every 243 years (Athena being reborn to fight in it) was built up, but it we didn't get to it until volume 19.

It's probably more noticeable in this movie because of the gap of time with no material. If this were a weekly manga, we'd at least be getting some material out.

But that's not the same at all. We knew he could create transformations to suppress his power. That was a known quantity. But what we didn't know was that he could obtain a new form to surpass his natural form. It's in another ballpark compared to SSJ2-3, which are basically just powered up SSJ1.

Having a alien soldier that's stronger than the others is a plothole?! So I guess, Goku and Vegeta being way stronger than they were on namek is a plothole too?!
That logic is stupid. There are 1000 alien soldiers from god knows where vs 5 z fighters + jaco out there. And none of them can successfully attack our heroes, because it will be a plothole...

What you wanted is Gohan one-shot one soldier with one punch and all the other 999 run away (à la Fusion Reborn). Sorry not gonna happen.
And this time, seems like gohan is the one that gets one shoted.

I'd say the questions of who/what Whis is and why he's training Goku and Vegeta are left still hanging, at least from what I can tell. He might be the link to some other universe in a future film.

While I'm not sure, my impression on reading Sorbet's explanation in the first manga chapter was that they needed Freeza for his political acumen, not strength (although that's good, too). I don't know what the term is in the original, or whether the translation is even accurate in the first place, but Tagoma speaks of "ability", not power.

I don't think you understood what I said, frankly.

They want Freeza back because without his power they are having trouble holding on to their empire. That seems logical since without Freeza and top fighters like the Ginyu force, they have a much harder time having a clear advantage in power and striking fear over the planets of the empire, so those planets start to rebel.

Except they have a soldier that is WAYY stronger than 100% Freeza... Freeza ruled his empire unchallenged without even using his second form... His 500.000 level was enough... And someone as strong as Buu arc Piccolo can't? And they need someone weaker than him back to keep the empire?

Yeah, no... Plothole.

I haven't seen the film, so I'm still not really clear how this pans out. This is what Julian wrote:
Julian wrote:As the crowd of soldiers thins, Piccolo is taken on directly by Shisami, who proves a more formidable challenge than the others. Gohan steps in, however, and makes quick work of him after becoming a Super Saiyan. Sorbet is horrified, and Freeza says he didn’t know how truly fearsome a Super Saiyan was."
That means he is stronger than the other enemies, which were completely useless. That doesn't mean he was beating Piccolo. Piccolo may have been holding back, or perhaps he did not expect him to be so strong and was caught off guard. It doesn't mean he is stronger than Freeza was, and it still doesn't change the fact that he wasn't sufficient in crushing rebellion.

The rest of your complaints sound like "I could write Dragon Ball better than Toriyama", which I'm not interested in discussing.

We see Freeza's body try to pull itself back together, after he gets revived by the dragon.

I wonder if this means that during the Android arc, if Freeza's body would have pulled itself back together after Trunks cut him in half, if he just stopped there. Maybe that's why he went ahead and cut him into even smaller pieces and then disintegrated those.
