Why didn't they just call the Red SSJG form Saiyan God then call the Blue SSJG Super Saiyan God becuase this makes a lot more sense

Calling it Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan is a mouthful and it's redundant

Instead of making things simple it's all convuluted

From what I understand, that's not a given title from the movie, but it's simply "Super Saiyan with the power of Super Saiyan God". It's Super Saiyan, just blue.

Hmmm... this might be one of the few times where I'd be okay with FUNimation "re-adapting" a name.

Something like "Ascended God Super Saiyan" or "God-power Super Saiyan" would pretty much mean the same thing and is less wordy/awkward than the literal term being used in current publications.

It almost feels like Toriyama is just trolling the entire fanbase to make them as upset as possible after whatever complaints he received about his decisions for BOG lol.

I wouldn't be surprised, he has admitted to trolling by doing the exact opposite of what his fans ask him to do, which I find really funny, it's one of the reasons I like Toriyama as much as I do.

After first reading Julian's summary, I kinda interpreted this whole thing as another transformation within a transformation-type situation, like Super Saiyan Grades 2 & 3. So I've already ended up mentally labelling this form as Super Saiyan God Grade 2 in my head. Who knows, it could be a bit like the 'grade' forms where the characters never actually referred to their transformations as such, but rather as 'Super Vegeta', etc.

It really would have been better if the previous red form had just been 'Saiyan God' or 'God Saiyan', allowing this form to be 'Super Saiyan God' or 'Super God Saiyan' or something. Lack of foresight on their part, but who could have known at the time that Battle of Gods would be the success it was and we'd be getting another new film so quickly.

Honestly, I disagree. I quite like the fact that Super Saiyan God is essentially the pinnacle of SSJ transformations, and that the only way to surpass that temporary level of power is to absorb it and then train with the usage of God ki. I think this aspect of the plot was represented pretty well with the palette swap representation of the first Super Saiyan form, and I do think it was all intended on Toriyama's part given his interviews on the subject (particularly when he said that he would only be incorporating SSJ1 from here on out). I'm certainly not of the opinion that it was a lack of foresight.

That's exactly what that "uses super-deep voice in blueper saiyan" thing Vegeta is doing feels like. He's trying to make himself seem cool and it ends up funny instead.

Honestly, calling it "Saiyan God" would not have worked in the last film. It had to have "Super Saiyan" in the name. Everyone's reaction to Beerus was "I know what a Super Saiyan is, but I've never heard of Super Saiyan God" so finding out what a SSG was or if it's even real became like 50% of the plot. The name made sense and Whis even commented on it being over-the-top.

The real problem is that they've taken things too far now and this blue form has no reason for existing. Anyway, I doubt this "Super Saiyan God SS" name will ever be spoken by a character in the anime so it really doesn't matter to me what it's called.

I understand that the name is a mouthful, but it makes sense. This form is simply a Super Saiyan God who's become a Super Saiyan. So in the end it's not really "Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan," it's more like "Super Saiyan Super Saiyan God" or more effectively, "Super Saiyan God (Super Saiyan)."

I immediately picture one of those "Gokû moves around awkwardly in clothes he's not used to wearing." scenes that popped up in the manga a couple times. X3

While a transformation that includes a magical outfit is on my wishlist, I don't think I'd want something that overpoweringly shiny. @_@

As for Vegeta, in the event that there’s talk of another animated film, then next time, I’d like him to play the main role. (Of course, this is nothing more than intentions, and I haven’t decided anything at all.)

That was hardly a definitive answer, and for what it's worth, Vegeta comes across as the hero of the battle despite Goku getting more screen time and ultimately stealing the kill. But that's a staple of the series and it's absolutely hilarious. I mean, c'mon, Goku gets shot through the chest. He's down and out! Vegeta comes in to save the day and beat the ever loving crap out of Freeza.

By all accounts, Vegeta's power-up and fight scene feature some of the nicest animation and will be the most memorable part of the film. If that's not giving Vegeta his time to shine, then I don't really know what you're expecting? Goku cheesing a victory is hardly a true victory, is it? It's a funny little moment that continues the two characters' dynamic. The audience knows who really took the victory. Heck, the group makes a joke of it.

The fact they're totally keeping Vegeta's role in the film under wraps should probably tell you something about what to expect. It's a big part of the film. I wouldn't really call this 'another Kakarot movie' as flippantly as that.
