WOW! Geez this is.... amazing!

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   8) 8) 8)   :) :D :) ONE YEAR! WHOO HOOO!!!!!! 8) 8) 8)

Bravo Mike, Meri & Julian!!! 8) You three rock! I'm looking forward to another year of this podcast. I really enjoy this and my only regret is that I missed most of the first year :x :x :x . I'm such a newbie still... "Thank you sir, may I have another." I won't be able to live that down until the end of the next year but it will be worth it.

It was also great to find out that Steve Simmon's is alive, well and not the alias for a supercomputer in Funimation HQ's basement. He was such a great guest.... by the way congrats DaemonCorps on calling it! You should win a prize.... . Anywho it was great to get an insight into just how Steve does the translating work for the dubs. That takes talent cause I have enough trouble with french let alone such a complex language like Japanese.

As for the conversation concerning the DVD release in February... nothing we haven't heard already but Steve mentioned that. News travels fast on the interweb. I have to agree with the bulk of American Dragonball fandom that the biggest concern is the release being widescreen. Why they decided this I have no idea.... I hope that Funimation DOES care and is not ruled by the cliche executive scrouge with a cigar that Mike mentioned. Hopefully this is adressed by the guys at Funimation soon enough. Sometimes I wonder if they live in a bubble.... :( However I remain optimistic. I also hope that the animation is "Dragon Box" caliber. I don't care much for "high definition" as long as it looks correct and refurbished. I also don't remember anything about "new footage" being mentioned. Can anyone point me in the right direction where this was said? It probably isin't "new" just completely uncut.

That being said I want to once again wish the podcast a "Happy Anniversary" and that I will be a listener for a long time to come. Oh and a.... P.S. I want to clear up with the community that when I say I am a "fan of FUNI" I mean I am a fan of the current voice cast and some of Falconers music. That does not mean I agree with everything Funimation does or that I am naive about the original cast/music. Thankyou !

:D

Li'l Lemmy wrote:THE CONTEST: Well, I didn't win. But oh well. Congrats to Miguel A. Arianno(sp?) for his score of some fantastic swag. But on another note, just so this can be clarified for the future-- was I supposed to put my real name on the entry? Or did the drawing just happen to favor someone who put his?
Thank you very much. Good try, but the correct spelling is Arellano. 8) Yeah, :D I put both my complete name and my username, just in case. I really don't think it mattered though, because if they would have pulled a slip with someone else's username it would have been the same deal, I would think. But yeah, AWESOME! :D

It was funny because I was explaining to my friend, who had just come over to play Guitar Hero II, that I was listening to the podcast to see if there was any news to the new remastered box sets from Funimation. So yeah, he screws around in Vice City while I finish listening so we can play. I told him that I had entered the contest and as soon as I said that Meri said "I can't say it." I said, "well thats it, I didn't win." So I continued listening while watching him glitch from the airport to the stadium and then all of a sudden I hear my name. We both look at each other and we had the WTF expression on our faces. So I scroll back and listen to it again and yup. It was me. :D

It was good to hear from Daimao and how he went from fan to translator. But yeah, good show. :D

Regarding the contest, no worries. No matter what there was (a real name, an alias, or just an e-mail address), if you sent an entry, you went into the bag.

WOW! Such a great podcast, it was great to hear the man himself STEVE SIMMONS! lucky dog Miguel A, you put that daizenshuu to use. That interview was good, but I was hoping to hear Steve S. do emails though. Hmmm, I might get those Daizenshuu for Christmas.

Oh that thing at the end was kind of like a New Years pledge! Coolness!

What more can I say guys, thanks for the site and the podcast.

Being a lurker I rarely comment on these things, but I would like to quickly say congrats to the team on 52 interesting episodes. This one got me through some really boring Programming at work (Don't tell anyone!) so it came out just in time.

I too fall into the category of someone who has waited for a DVD release with a bit of continuity to it, as all I have is a selection of videos either taped off the TV (with a whole range of dubs from here in the UK) or some bad sub-titled tapes I ordered in 2000 (including the infamous Anime Lab Movie 13!) so I'm looking forward to the ultimate sets. Here's hoping the international shipping won't be too much!

So to sum up again, keep up the good work, you get me through many a boring Monday... :o
Er.... No.

I really enjoyed this podcast! Great work guys, I did this picture whilst listening to you, Goku's looking a bit upset for some reason perhaps he's upset about the widescreen thing, I mean it messes up his field of vision 8) Here's to another year!

Poor steven... Didn't know he had to time it all, and edit (proofreading) 0.o
That must...suck. (I've done timing, and know it takes a couple of hours per episode).

Hey guys!

This was a truly excellent anniversary episode of this incredible podcast! I want to congratulate and thank you guys for this wonderful year! You guys have really led to me keeping an interest in Dragonball, when there was pretty much nothing but video games being released by discussing the many aspects of the series. So again, Thank you Mike, Julian, and Meri!

I totally predicted Mr. Simmons as the guest of honor! XD He was probably the best guest anyone could have asked for! Listening to your plans for the coming year, I can't help to be excited! Keep up the outstanding work, and please stay with us for as long as you can... We'll be here listening! :D

I don't normally reply to these threads, but this is a special occasion. Thanks Mike, Meri and Julian for giving me something to look forward to every week. Best episode ever, and I look forward to many more.

Congrats Miguel and enjoy the book!

Before I forget, thanks for being kind enough to give a daizenshuu away. (I'm not the winner, I'm think its cool someone would give one away).

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

This one was pretty long... I actually had to split this apart because I didn't have enough time to play it all in one sitting. So while that is kinda cool, it's problematic as well. So... don't make a habit out of it? I don't really expect you to.

Hell yeah, Marathon. I think this is the second time on the podcast that Julian has mentioned my favorite-est game ever. I believe it was just recently on some video gaming plot top-ten list, as well.

I've also heard "Grand Sponsor" and "Christmas" ever since I can remember. Normally I would not admit to such a thing. But I guess it's funny.

Actually, I remember Trunks and Gohan saying "chew attack" in the dub. (:?)...
Li'l Lemmy wrote:It's been so long since I listened to the first episode that I can't remember how it went back then, but it was interesting to hear the opening bit concerning the history each of you had to provide; it's nice to see your credentials, so to speak. It's stuff that you can't normally advertise without sounding self-absorbed, but as someone who was curious anyway it's nice that you found an excuse.
Aw man, I remember way back when you guys were starting out. You guys sounded pretty uncomfortable at first, but you guys eventually got used to the radio show-esque podcasting. The eventual adding of the music intros as well as a segment for each of you really shaped the podcast into what it is today, unlike other podcasts I've listened to (that aren't yours) that are pure rants (which can still be interesting at times, but still...). And as for each of you guys doing a little background info on yourselves, I thought that was so incredibly apporpriate for the podcast-versary :D.

(bows) Thanks! Though I'm pretty sure a good number of forumers guessed it as well.

Congratulations on one year of podcast recording!

I want everyone to know about the translator of Dragon Ball, Clyde "Tomato" Mandelin. Here's a list of his translations he has done for companies. http://clydemandelin.com/

Tomato has also unofficially translated some Nipponese (Japanese) video games. Those games are: Star Ocean, Bahamut Lagoon, Famicom Detective Club part II: The Girl In Back, Live a Live, FEDA: The Emblem of Justice, Laplace no Ma, Lagrange Point, Super Puyo Puyo 2, Aoi Blink, Manga Braban, Akuma-kun, The Quest for Ki, Super Robot Wars, and Time Zone.

Tomato is currently translating MOTHER3 (Mother 3), a Nipponese RPG that is "strange, funny, and heartrending".

Here's another one of Tomato's sites. http://tomato.fobby.net/
Here's an older version of the site. http://web.archive.org/web/200604271437 ... fobby.net/
Here's the website that Itoi Shigesato, the creator of the MOTHER series, made for MOTHER3. http://starmen.net/mother3/mother3world/ (The dates below the present boxes are when people were able to click on the boxes.)
And in case you want to know what the MOTHER series is, go to. http://starmen.net/index2.php
